Wow didn't see that one coming, nice and early too so they should have time to sort any problems, although most people seem quite happy with it.  I can't access the www.sigames.com website let alone download it, plus I'm quite happy with my game with Chesterfield at the moment.  Anyone on here managed to get it?  What do you reckon?  What's the Swindon squad like?  Are the positions accurate (i.e.: Roberts a forward, not a naffing striker?).

Can't get to the SI site either, probably taking a spanking from everyone trying to download....will try again later though, never knew the demo was available so cheers!

i'm playing FM2005 at work (in my lunchtime :wink: ) and i got saked by Swindon for being shit basically.

Now i'm with Doncaster and i checked on Swindon the other day as it's been 3 season since they sacked me and they haven't got any staff.

Willie Carson is still there and also Digby + a Scout.
all there players are leaving and they aren't employing a new manager or anything. It seems when players reach the end of there contracts they just leave and don't sign anyone.

Proves that FM2005 is the most realistic game around :-))(

Installed it at work, and had a look at the squad - looks OK, Roberts looks very good.

Deleted it already though, didn't want to get found out.

Having downloaded the FM2006 Beta Demo I am very disappointed with the Swindon Town data, and am dubious that the person responsible has ever seen the side.

Loan Players I am almost certain the players loaned from Manchester United - Colin Heath and Tom Heaton - were loaned for free, i.e.: we did not pay any of their wages, contrary to what is on FM2006.

Team James Walker should never be listed under the first team, whereas Rory Fallon most definitely should, as should Michael Pook and Andy Nicholas. Bulman, Wells and Caton should be in the reserves at least, if not the first team.

Goalkeepers Tom Heaton should have a higher attribute at kicking than Rhys Evans, currently 7 and 9 respectively. Evans has had numerous problems with kicking, which has generally been extremely wayward - should be lowered.

Jack Smith Should have central midfield as a convincing position - has played there several times in friendlies and league games and has looked decent, although primarily he is a full back.

Steve Jenkins Seems harsh that he is instantly on the transfer list, when in real life he is a member of the squad and likely to be in the first team once loan players return.

Strikeforce Andy King has tinkered with the personnel this season, but mostly it has been Rory Fallon and Jamie Cureton starting for Swindon. Neither Cureton or Thorpe should be seen as indispensible, and at the time of writing Thorpe is considered a back-up - not that he is particularly happy about it. Rory Fallon has been our best player, despite him being the least of the three.

Christian Roberts Should have winds up opposition fans/players as PPM - has a history of doing so.

Walrus - SI have people (fans I think) who feed them information on player stats and so on. I don't know who the individual is for us, but I'll try and find out for you so you can send this info on to him in the hope they 'fix it' for the real release in November.

I've posted that in the Data Issues Forum, but apparently much of what I said is due to the computer deciding these issues - so PA/CA's need to be tweaked, and someone needs to sort out the loans as 1.8k p/w for Heath is wayyy to high!

I dropped IFIL and promptly beat Cardiff 2-1, Millwall 2-1 and then only lost 1-2 to Juventus in a televised friendly! Got to get on with some work now though, shall continue this testing this evening I think.

Looks good.  I like the half-time teamtalk thing, and also at the end.  I reportedly locked my team in the changing room at the end of the game and was furious with them after drawing 2-2 with Bristol Rovers after being 2-0 up.
The quick tactics thing is also good, as well as being able to see the match in the split screen view now.

This game is legendary. Being only a demo hopefully the full version will be simply class. Sigames haven't let us down.

Playing 4 3 1 2. Heaton, Smith, Comyn-Platt, O'Hanlon, Collins, Pook, Migs Whalley, Heath, Cureton, Thorpe.

Currently 10th, played 12. Scored 9 in the last two games. Curetons got 5 in 9, and thorpe's got 9 in 9.

Highlights are beat Juventus 4-3 at home  :D  First game of the season beat Bristol City away 6-1  :D   :D  Thorpe getting 4. There was pandimodium (sp?) in the stands!!

Beat Juve 1-0. :)

Just delete the 401.exe file you downloaded and then empty the recycle bin (right click on it and choose empty)

I think bulldog broadband does 8mb for £30 unlimited downloads. Probably rubbish customer service though

yeah bulldog are pants...and with residential broadband it is 50:1 contention, meaning up to 50 people at any one time are sharing your "8MB" - with business broadband the contention is 2:1 which is why its so much moe expensive....

Yes it does, I looked into that Si. But it's all tied in with changing your phone supplier - ie: swapping BT for Bulldog.

I always found a simple 4-4-2 to work best, normal style.

Yeah me 2.... normal 4-4-2, with the 2 wingers running half way up to the strikers, just work on your player selection, that normally sorts it.... make sure you sub players when there condition gets below 60 and try not to select players who's condition is under about 87-88 before the game starts if you can help it

If my player gets to 90% and its not a big game i usually rest them to be honest.

how are you meant to sign anybody when they give you a budget of 9k?! it doesn't let you play more than about 20games either, it saves your game and shuts down the game :cry:  i was 3rd bottom by that time anyway so probably just as well!

Its a demo, of course you've only got a limited number of games. Has anybody found any bugs in the game yet as thats what the beta demo is for. :wink:

yeah i found a bug, but i havent reported it yet...... I was playin a game, i brought Jenks on as a sub, and then i went to change the team around later on, and he wasnt on the pitch, it was as if he had been sent off, but he hadent, and he ended up playing a rating of 5.... so i think i was down to 10 men, im not sure

Things havnt gone well for me at all. Beat city 2-1 in the first game then lost the next 4 without scoring a goal.

Tried playing 3 up front as we dont have any wingers, that dosnt work so gone back to 4-4-2. I'm struggling to be honest and I'm usually very good at FM!

Some cool things I've noticed:

1. Dick Makey asking me if I wanted to give Jack Smith a painkilling injection to enable him to play in a game. (would have been out for longer if I had.

2. The position report thing

3. Training is miles better, I like the option of resting someone for a week straight from their profile screen

I did okay up until the beta cut me off at Christmas.  Didn't sell anyone, didn't buy anyone.

Ended up 8th by Christmas ... Christian Roberts got in a few good games, also kept Caton in under 18s until November then bought him up - scored a hat-trick in his first game.

Was losing some really odd games like Franchise at home, but then going away and beating Forest. Bizarre!

Also, smashing Bristol City for 4 and Tinman got sacked. Hahaha!

Seems like there's some good improvements.
