Title: Was Thinking Today
Post by: Ralphy on Monday, September 12, 2005, 16:49:26
If Swindon folded, who would you support?

Obviously going on geography, these clubs are closest to me..

1) Oxford - No way on earth would i ever follow the scum, never.

2) Reading - For me further away than some midlands team and i don't like them!

3) Wycombe - Non league rubbish

4) Birmingham City - Close to me and a possible option should the unthinkable happen

5) Aston Villa - As Birmingham City

6) Coventry City - Agian only 45 min drive for me

7) Franchise - No way, a joke club

Yeah why do you have to support a new club? Make a new Swindon and get behind it!

And endure dire non league football?

there is no way in hell i could conjure up some sort of unreal 'passion' for any old club
there is only one club for me so i'd have to say no-one, which would suck.

I couldn't bear a saturday without league football though.

Your right no club will ever be more in my heart than Swindon but i would 'follow' someone else should a disaster happen.

If Swindon ceased to exist I wouldn't support anyone. I'd probably go and watch Supermarine.

I'd go to see the Cobbs, Franchise are closer but I'd never support them.  Most of my mates are Cobbs fans, so I'd probably go and watch them.

Q.P.R. as all my family are from and live round the Sheperds Bush area so i could stay with them instead of rushing back after matchday.

my options would be...

Bristol city-No chance even though I have loads of friends and relatives that support them and its closer to me than swindon!

Bristol Rovers-I think I'd support them because they hate city too :)

Southampton-Not really.

Also possibly Cardiff or reading.

Swindon won't fold though will they :?

Maybe Basingstoke  Town & Cirencester Town, local and home town teams.

Closest league club is Reading. I wonder if they would sell me an away end season ticket. It would be like having a guest club to support every week.

In all honesty I don't know whether I'd go to matches any more :(

couldn't dream of supporting another club.
ok i could watch loads of clubs round here but i would never follow them the way i have swindon.

would rather not go than support someone else.

not even worth thinking about

Oh yeah, I'd never even consider going to Carlisle to watch the Cobbs, but given that it's league football only 15 miles away I think I'd go to their home games.

Come off it, it's not that bad.

Castle Key is a nice shopping centre and they've built some nice houses.

Haven't you been for a while?

Carterton, Witney and Bicester are worse.

Banbury is nowhere near as bad as Manchester, London, Liverpool or Birmingham.

Just an average English town with a few beer boys and slappers, nothing unusual.

I have  afew options, arsenal as been to a fiar few of their games, villa same reason, watford as lived and watched them for 6 years but if that really did happen is get down supermarine.

In my opinion it is already set up as a new swindon town, ex chairman owns them, loves town through and through has big backing owns teh land and have big plans.  If that wa sthe new swindon id still go however if town went down I would be totally lost in life, sad but very very true.

They have been in my blood since I was 6 never will change!

In all seriousness, i would probably pop to the Madejski if i wanted to see a reasonably priced game of footy locally, as i don't really see them as rivals.
