Title: Massimo Luongo and the Ballon d'Dor
Post by: Panda Paws on Friday, October 2, 2015, 07:24:29
Never ever thought I'd see our humble club on the Ballon d'Or list. Say what you want about Mass, but that's some achievement (if reports are true).

He's got to be in there because he was voted best player of a senior FIFA competition.

Not during the time for which the award is....

So he received a nomination on a technicality, and is never going to win!

So essentially a nothing story.....

Hardly. He had to be talented enough to impress at the Asia Cup to win the MVP. Technicality or not it's an amazing list of players to be associated with for him. And we should be proud that his breakout seasons were with us, could be a tip of the hat to how we play and develop young players.

Well its a story that he can run which is not entirely sourced from the BBC so must be quite exciting for him!

The only reason for taking an interest in the Ballon d'Dor is to see what god awful suit Messi turns up in each year.

Ah, that makes more sense. :)

Edit: It's surprising how few of those players amounted to much. I only see one world class player in Zlatan, the rest, bar a few decent players, are nowhere.

Andries Iniesta  :hmmm:

I take your point though.

I'll give you that. Kaká as well maybe. Cherno Samba, sadly not. It is a who's who of mildly promising, and now forgotten, youngsters.

Robben? You have got a point though, most of these players are bang on average at best.
