I would be amazed if this is just VW Group - if one is at it I suspect they all are.

I don't doubt that at all.

I have my suspicions that the Japanese manufacturers will be clean - having experienced how meticulous they are in their work.

Unless anyone from Honda is on here and can say otherwise ?

Maybe as some got caught for it 10 years ago..., but my guess is they will have chanced it again. This vw thing has huge ramifications on company cars, as tax is all based on emissions, gonna be a huge mess just on that alone, as governments will be chucking in their claims. Jeez this world we've made is so corrupt it's unbelievable really.

Copied from the other thread where this was discussed....

I suspect in the long run that this will not just be VW. I had an interesting conversation with a mechanic yesterday; when testing the products of a major non-German manufacturer, he has noticed that the engine cannot be revved above about 2,600 rpm. He has spoken to the manufacturer about it, they told him that it is to prevent over-speeding of the engine under "no-load" conditions, which might cause damage. Sounds reasonable, but I suspect that there's more to it!
