Title: Calling all Timelords!
Post by: Combe Down on Thursday, September 17, 2015, 18:20:39
The Town Hall Clock has been stopped for days now. All four faces of it. The clock above the Octopus restaurant has been stopped for years. That is at the transport hub of the Swindon bus and train stations. Surely it is important to show the correct time there. Who is in charge of such things. Doesn't anyone care anymore?!

Just look at your watch, or phone.

I don't wear a watch; trinkets are for Gillingham fans.  I don't want everybody to look at my phone to find out the time.  They may have their own phone I guess.  But if the prominent clocks in town are not accurate, then take them down.  Someone may miss a transfer deadline by glancing up at the clock which is showing the incorrect time.

I use my phone, but I'm not sure what protocol it uses.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_Time_Protocol

Windows XP wouldn't update the time unless you set the correct date e.g after a CMOS reset/mobo battery change.

Professor Brian Cocks is on BBC 4 now with Horizon: what time is it? Maybe the Council or whoever is in charge of the clocks in town should watch.

You need a De lorean and some metal cable. Oh, and a flux capacitor.

That's why it stopped in the first place
