Title: How can I remove a jack pin?
Post by: Flashheart on Friday, April 17, 2015, 20:28:53
The jack pin for my mic has somehow snapped off inside the plug. I can no longer plug any mic into my PC because the last jack is still in there and I can't get it out.

Any tips on how to get the fucker out? Or alternative solutions? Thanks, in advance.

According to Newton's 1st Law of Motion, if you give the computer an enormous smack, then the jack plug should stay where it is, and therefore come out  :)

Fair shout Reg.

But I can see how giving my PC an enormous smack could be a tad risky.

Drill in to it with a really small drill bit. Or solder / super glue something to it.

Or get a new sound card.

Will super glue be 'super' enough to pull it out?

I don't have a separate sound card, it's part of my GPU.

Not sure about the super glue, might work, might not. Drilling with a small drill bit and pulling it out is probably the better option. Check the socket from the inside as well, unlikely but might be a way to push it out.

Doesn't matter if it's an onboard sound card, you can still add another provided you have a free card slot. It will show up as a separate device then you just need to select the relevant input/output's on the new card to use them instead.
