We wanted Kasim to arrive late for international duty to play for his club; whereas Carroll had completed his international duty hadn't he? So what FIFA were "protecting" was the idea that players should be available for a set period before and during a block of internationals, they don't give a monkeys whether they then turn up knackered for club duty.
