Title: Blatter
Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 9, 2014, 18:45:19
I think this cunt is worthy of his own thread.

Quote
At its general assembly in Sao Paolo, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) condemned what it termed "the repeated, deliberately hateful, defamatory and degrading attacks by some media, notably British, on the image and the integrity of the Confederation of African Football, its president, its members, its member associations and the entire African continent."

Now the thing is, Sepp, me old chum, is that I too despise the British press in general. Can't stand them.

However... they are very, very good at revealing dirty secrets that people don't want to be revealed. I don't care if it was Piers Morgan himself, the odious cunt, that revealed your corruption. HE WOULD STILL BE RIGHT for doing so. They are not necessarily in the wrong for revealing your corruption, it is YOU that's in the wrong for being so fucking corrupt in the first place.

Attacks on the image and the integrity of ..... FUCK YOU you senile old cunt. Arguably the biggest threat to the integrity to world football is YOU.

There definitely is a touch of sour grapes on the part of the media here though. Noses well and truly put out of joint by the Russian '18 victory.

That said the sooner Blatter and a whole load of old suits do one the better for the game in general.

There has been two books published over the years about Havelange and Blatter, and neither have been sued despite detailing their corrupt antics and how they've been making 'donations' to FA's around the world for their vote, how they've been taking kickbacks and how they've done their best to fix votes.

Any successful legal action?  Nope.

FIFA are the single most corrupt sporting organisation in the world today.

"There is a sort of storm against Fifa relating to the Qatar World Cup," Blatter said. "Sadly there's a great deal of discrimination and racism."

So he's playing the racism card then.

shit, if FIFA hold out FA accountable somehow we might get fines totalling 27p

You could well be right, Jan.

What Blatter doesn't seem to realise though is that it would not make him any less of a cunt.

Even if it is racially motivated, which I doubt very much, it still doesn't make him and his cronies any less guilty.

Of course I'm assuming the reports are not false, but I'd doubt they'd make something up on this scale.

TBF to Blatter, I don't think it was him saying this but the corrupt Africans, who he courts to remain in power. Blatter just said this comes about because of racism....he likes to present himself as a friend of these countries, getting the WC to Africa etc.

No if the likes of Dyke and the FA were any better, than they'd be looking to withdraw from FIFA and set up a new alternative....they'd certainly have the backing of a lot fans in the UK.

Unfortunately though....many myself included are WC junkies, when push comes to shove the background shenanigans are largely forgotten.

Blatter is made of teflon.  It's astonishing.  And his divide & rule tactics (portraying the British press as the enemy) seem to be highly effective.  What can you do?  Baffling.

For a reason, whilst most of the allegations in the last week is about 2022, 2018 was probably 'bought' as well. In the Sunday Times yesterday, apparently bin Hammam was invited to Moscow to discuss 'bilateral relations in sport' in the weeks before Qatar and Russia won the ballots to stage the 2018 and 2022 WC contests.

Great video that, very good.

And it'd be great if the euro power houses ditched FIFA. Set up on their own, the TV company money and sponsorship would follow. Just need someone with big enough balls to get it going.

Title: Re: Blatter
Post by: Ardiles on Monday, June 9, 2014, 19:07:04
The interesting question to address here is why do the allegations of corruption inflame passions here so much more than anywhere else?  It's not simply down to the smoke, mirrors & lies around the England 2018 bid.  Much more involved.  I don't understand why sports journalists elsewhere are not on Blatter's/FIFA's case to the same extent as the press here.  Why are we the outlier?

I've wondered that myself.

All I can think of is that because it is mainly the British Press making the allegations, other countries assume it's because we're biased and bitter.

That doesn't make much sense to me either but it's the best I can come up with.

Title: Re: Blatter
Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 9, 2014, 19:14:08
Are we just being bitter?

Is our national press pulling the wool over our eyes?

I really don't think so because we do have access to the rest of the world's press.

Of course Russia 18 was bought....which is why Cameron pitched up at the unveiling and Putin didn't bother as he already knew the outcome...

Unfortunately a lot of our politicians have no moral grounds for complaint, as they're corrupt also....see cash for questions, phoney expenses claims etc.

I think Qatar gets the backlash, because the corruption has clearly led to a decision that even Blatter admits is a mistake...Qatar will happen, it will have to be moved to winter; can you imagine the sort of knock on effect this is going to have on our beloved dank Saturday afternoons in November?

I think that there are a few other countires media that have picked up on it but it only seems to be the british press that are investigative.

The Fifa congress meeting is today and tomorrow it will be interesting to see if any of the british reps there including the vice president are happy to sit and take part and keep quiet.

There are so many snouts in the trough that Fifa would have to have a complete overhaul for get rid of the corruption.

From Maradona:

Diego Maradona has once again opened fire on FIFA, accusing Sepp Blatter of doing nothing for the money he earns.

The Argentina and Napoli icon yesterday branded world football’s governing body as corrupt and today focused his criticism more specifically on President Blatter.

“The multinational FIFA are lying,” Maradona said during an interview at a publicity event.

“Bill Gates was rich because he earned the money, Blatter takes $4000m without doing anything!

“How can the winners [of the World Cup] only earn $35m if FIFA earn $4000m?”

Turned over $1.3 billion in 2013 and have cash reserves of $1.4 billion.

Not bad for a non-profit organisation.

I think you can safely say that Jerome Valcke must have some dirt on Blatter after getting a promotion 6 months after being sacked after lying in a New York Court :

The appointment of the new general secretary of FIFA Valcke surprised some experts, as FIFA president Blatter had released Valcke in December 2006 from his job as marketing director after a New York court had found him guilty in the summer of 2004 in his role as marketing director for negotiating sponsor agreements with the rival VISA, despite the existing agreement of FIFA conducted with the long-time partner MasterCard and thus violated the right of first negotiation of MasterCard. Because of this, the FIFA was fined USD$60 million. FIFA president Blatter said: "Strong people bring you back. When he began his work as director of marketing and TV in FIFA four and a half years ago, we were in a financial crisis. Currently we have an equity of CHF 752 million." According to Blatter, Valcke was released in December and had not been fired. Valcke responded to his promotion of 27 June 2007 in Zurich, with the following statement: "It's like a dream for me."

Blatter to announce later today if he is standing for another term - of course he will he has a lot of the other federations on side by suggesting they could get more money so will get the votes, they want to keep their snouts in the trough

Fifa are supposedly being investigated by the FBI as well, not sure what powers they have though as they are based in that swiss tax haven.

You dont get to stand as a fifa president for this long without knowing a thing or two

Bar UEFA he has the other confederations in his pocket. Apparently, he announced that FIFA will be handing 'bonuses' to all associations, likely to be in the region of $200k...I think we know where this money will likely end up.

I suppose the sponsors will have a big say about Blatter and his future. I would say UEFA should tell FIFA to fuck off and take their ball away but that would mean that fucking idiot Platini in charge and watching him shrug his shoulders at anything he doesn't like,
The problem is when it comes to football every other nation thinks we are cunts.

Platini is no angel - he voted for Quatar and has links to corruption himself previously - he is not the answer they need a neutral younger person in there to overhaul fifa, or close it down along with UEFA and create one european federation

Blatter craves power and money. What if UEFA withdrew its teams from the World Cup and ran the Euros every two years in direct competition to FIFA. Would the sponsors and TV companies continue to fund FIFA or support the Euros. Considering 19 of the top 30 teams in the world rankings are from Europe, surely it's a possibility and a chance to stick two fingers up to Blatter.

Would love UEFA to break away, be great for the game. The thing is the big non UEFA nations would soon join them. FIFA needs dismantling and rebuilding, easiest way to do that is start again. Do it UEFA!

I can't see UEFA doing it, especially with Platini in charge. But I reckon the top European leagues withdrawing from UEFA would have exactly the same effect. Say England, Spain and Germany to start then the rest of the European leagues would follow them, which would bring down UEFA which would bring down FIFA. Power in football is with whoever controls the money and a lot of the FIFA money comes from Europe, take that away and Blatter's power is gone.

Wouldn't want to see Europe / UEFA go it alone. But they could start again and the rest of the world would soon join up.
