Used to absolutely despise the stuff, had to pick them out of every McDonalds burger I ever had as a kid. Today I requested them in my Subway and have even been known to eat pickled gherkin from the jar (for pleasure rather than as a sick dare). Has anyone else experienced such a gherkin-related taste turn-around? When the Soviet Union collapsed, for a few years afterwards people who previously worked in State run industries, were paid in gherkins and they could be used to barter for other services. As a kid I didn't much care for broad beans.....now love em. I'm sure you all wanted to know that. Home grown and cooked beetroot is a marvellous thing......bit messy mind you need a big pot to boil them up in and it dyes everything purple.
