Just wondering if anyone else going by train and what time  :hmmm: be nice to arrive mob handed and acquire a boozer.

SAS are doing it for £9 leaving at 12 , though I saw one of the other lg1 clubs tweet the other day that the concourse at shitty has no beer sales so will be a dry day going by them

We went into a pub near the ground back in 91. It was one of those times that the jukebox stopped playing and the whole pub looked at us. If it wasn't already obvious we weren't city fans it was confirmed when I asked someone where the bogs were (much to my mates dismay).We had one pint and stood by the door.  :)

Found myself in a similar situation when we won 2-1 there thanks to a brace from Darius Henderson. Five of us walked into a pub called The Hen & chicken. It was just after 1pm so luckily not too busy but you could hear a pin drop as we walked in. We got served, sat in the corner and tried not to make eye contact with the locals. First 10 minutes was the worst but eventually the locals lost interest and two of them even sat with us and engaged in football chat. The only other moment in the pub was when I had to take a pass and ventured to the bogs alone. Followed in by a local who said something along the lines of 'You got balls coming in here alone' to which I stupidly replied 'why you going to bum me then' he just laughed and said 'you're funny, Swindon'. Not the most comfortable boozers I've been in but I'll maintain that if you keep yourself to yourself and don't go looking for trouble you should be fine even in Bristol.

Went on the train to that game, got penned in by the police and taken on the longest route possible to the game, arrived 30mins into the game, fucking ridiculous.

The 91 game we won 4-0 and weren't let out the ground until 5.45, there were some city hanging about still but seeing as the five of us included 3 over 6ft, one around 21st, a military copper and me obviously looking like a hard as nails 21 year old  :), we walked straight by.  :D

I can only presume, hearing the tales of Shitty fans, that there will be a heavy and heavy-handed police presence in Brizzle that day if half their matches against non-rival opposition are to be compared with.

I'll doubtless go, not a long drive and gives me an excuse to see some mates. Long old day on the piss I reckon  :pint:

I was with Yeovil Red that day. We ran away from the police line and jumped in a taxi. Just missed the start, I think.

I went to the game when Iffy was in charge when we drew 1-1 and got relegated (Cureton missed a sitter from 4 yards, standard behaviour) and I don't remember there being any animosity at all towards us.

I'm going on the train with my dad and would be good to have a beer or two with some friendly faces, although not sure I am keen to go 'mob handed and acquire a boozer', whatever that means!

There's plenty of boozers in Bedminster on the walk from the station to the ground. I particularly like the spit and sawdust type places like The Barley Mow and The Apple Tree.

After the game there was a large number of City fans giving it the big one behind the safety of a huge metal fence. Not sure they'd have been so mouthy had it not been there! The highlight of that day was seeing a City fan making obscene hand gestures out of his car window after the game. He'd have been better off watching the road really, as he drove straight into the car in front!

Get to Temple Meads early and round the back to the Knights Templar, then into town. Failing that, there's a nice little bar just opposite the station.. engineers or something. That's where we drank against them in the cup.

Bit annoyed with this one, in the process of appealing my ban, but even if I get off I'm off out to Germany again and will miss this one.. Fortuna Olé!

Disagree, whilst I'm all for it turning into safe standing its one of the best away stands going.  The acoustics are brilliant and you get a great atmosphere going. Ok the seats have no backs to them but I've never sat down there so don't care about that.

Makes sense to use rugby as a way to bring safe-standing in to football stadia slowly but surely.

Ok I'll concede it has a nice low roof which does help add to the atmosphere but is far far away from one of the best away stands going. The gradient that the steps increase by is piss poor and there's too many posts in the way if you sit further than about 10 rows back.

They care just as much as we do and to say they don't care is laughable. Oxford are our main rival  in case shitty forget.

If we sell that out in the next couple of weeks you'd think they'd give us a few more. Their average attendance is under 12k, so plenty of space.

Away fans are housed at one end of the ground in part of the Wedlock Stand, which is shared with home supporters. Around 2,800 away supporters can be accommodated in this area according to the away ground guide thing.

Wolves have averaged 2619 away fans this season. Very impressive but will obviously be skewed by that Preston figure, and they will have played City in previous years so no novelty factor. This suggests to me they wouldn't have sold loads more than their allocation. But I'm guessing!

Ultimately, if City really want to turn away 500-1000 extra away fans at £17 each then that will explain a lot about their recent financial history.

Last time I went there for a league game was v Newcastle - who had an original allocation of 2,200 but were given an extra 600 or so after Bristol City could not sale these themselves

Been there loads of times to watch the Town...never ever felt really happy there to be honest,...the match where we stopped them reaching the playoffs was very nasty and i once went there to watch us v Rovers where again it was very nasty,course when you are a young un that was part of the exitement.

That match where they missed the play offs, my mate parked the other side of the park. He mentioned it to a copper who said, you go through there and you're on your own  :). Saw a bloke about to hurl a missile and he stepped out in front of a cantering police horse....splat!

Presume it was just a case of tickets being on sale before they were physically received by the club.

It's been the policy of selling away tickets all season. Not really sure why but they go on sale online for a week before they sell them in person.

He's gone into Swindon today to get ours.

Just booked my trains. On the 10:30 out of Paddington, think a couple more London reds are on that train as well.

For a lot of the regular travellers it's what you do on a Saturday afternoon, the result while preferring a win isn't too important, it's the whole ritual that counts.

SAS do a good deal on an away day season ticket.  Getting to say Carlisle on a Tuesday night becomes a challenge, and we all need challenges in our lives.

Even reading took 5000 there once

I doubt the 'extra' tickets are on top of the 2,200 allocation. Otherwise I'm fairly sure the OS would have made mention of selling out and getting more tickets in.

So the maths do stack up.

Chance of the rest selling out? Surely if you were going you'd have bought your ticket by now though, doubt there'll be many paying on the day.

City fans make me laugh. Slagging swindon off as a dump,  but apart from the harbourside,  Clifton and sneyd park I can't think of any other part of Bristol that is ok. At least there are loads of exit roads  :)

The mrs sister lives in Bristol. Apart from it's football clubs, it's a great city with lots more to do than there is here!

I just don't see why some people take offence at this and cannot understand why some people would choose to use it as an attempted insult. It's not as though the town we are born in is decided on some merit system. We come from whichever town we come from because that's where our parents live. That's it.

If I were somehow responsible for the town and how people perceive it then I might be somewhat irked by such remarks. Considering I am not in the slightest bit responsible, however, I really could not give a flying one and I don't see what other people would either.

Quite. Where you are born - either town/city, country or continent is down to an accident of geography. Which make it all the more silly to get all het up about foreigners, local 'rivals', king and country etc. It's all a load of crap. Well, more than that actually, it's just pimped out bigotry.
