Title: FA Cup first round draw
Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, October 26, 2013, 12:23:58
The draw is at 1:45pm tomorrow if you're as clueless as me and just thought we had a random weekend off...

Haven't even seen who the non league teams are that are left in but as Lee says this is what footy is all about to lower league teams, the dream of getting that massive tie in the 3rd round.

Any away game at lower league non league would be good, or away at Exeter for me for a local one.

Poole Town away please. Everyone's favourite second club. Currently 0-0 away at Staines.

Whatever happened to STFCinBournemouth??? Remember him getting in a huff about his nephew getting sent down and him vehemently protesting his innocence. Hope he didn't drop the soap.

Plymouth away would be ok, my step daughters boyfriend is at Uni there so we can pop on down and stay over for the night but Exeter away would be better for me :)

if that is the draw don't turn up in Worcester as you will miss it. Worcester are playing at Kidderminsters ground this season.

Title: Re: FA Cup first round draw
Post by: @mwooly63 on Saturday, October 26, 2013, 19:47:06
The only problem with non league away is the amount of tickets we will get
Cambridge up to 2600
Wrexham and Halifax will give us around 2000
Lincoln 1900
Luton, Kidderminster and Aldershit 1500
Barnet and Alfreton around 1200

( of course those figures will probably be lowered due to us being a lg club so more segregation etc )

The rest well

On the basis that I drive through Brackley every other week to get to home games, Brackley away would do me.

My first 12 years were spent in Brackley, my mum used to run a playgroup in the clubhouse, one of my dad's mates used to be chairman - Brackley away is my no. 1 first choice and a match I have been hoping would happen all my life.  I really want this to happen.

I was 11 then and regularly went to home games but didn't go to that one for some reason.

I bloody love this competition.

From a cup romance point of view I'd like a trip to nice small non league team below the conference. From a progression point of view anything anything apart from an away trip to a league 1 team should be ok, getting through rounds 1&2 are huge.

Come on...it's the first round.  What kind of draw were you expecting?  Regardless of last year's shambles, it's completely winnable.  And if we fail to, we'll have no right to take part in the Second Round anyway.

Cooper has a good record in the Cup, with non league sides, so that should help, but whereas once I was bothered by our once a decade loss to non leagues sides....in the last few years I've just got used to it. Moss Rose is the kind of norvern outpost where we struggle even with a half decent side.

Getting a replay, would be OK.

I remember the League 2 game moved to the Friday night....left at 1245 with the intention of sitting in a beer garden for the afternoon (it was 30 degrees!)....instead, we sat on the M6 for over 5 hours and almost missed Kick Off....

May give this one a miss...

Quote
Away fans are primarily located in the open John Askey Terrace, where up to 1,500 fans can be accommodated. Additionally, 403 seats are made available in the Henshaw's Stand, which sits at one side of the pitch. The seating may well be a better bet, as this stand is covered and the facilities new. Entrance to both areas is by ticket only, cash is not accepted at the turnstiles.

Depends on how many they think we will sell - may only get the seats anyway

You may have dreamt that...could have been 23rd Dec 06, when we lost 2-1...the start of our 100% losing record at Moss Rose.

Ah yea, knew it was around Xmas time, can't remember us scoring though, or was it Craig Easton that scored?

Loads of abandoned buildings between the pub and the ground, presumably a lot of them silk mills, hence their nickname.

Just 1 Sunday BT Sport game to be announced. I doubt it will be us. Maybe if Paolo was still here? Although Mark Cooper does have non-league FA Cup pedigree.

Afc wimbledon v coventry.

What a shit game

They would be better off showing daventry v chesterfield, i think they are the lowest ranked team left in the cup?

Picked because they both won the cup in consecutive years in the 80's...the previous last time there was a surprise winner until Wigan.

Not much of a reason really....

Belated reaction to the draw; shit tie but winnable...different teams from last season's game, and I think we'll beat them. On the rattler for this one, so a few beers will be enjoyed win, lose or draw!

Franchise won it though, they were the original wimbledon.

AFC wimbledon are just a bunch of busy bodies who had nothing better to do

Any details yet re: Tickets for Macclesfield? Game is a week away and nothing announced...presume it will be pay on the day, but it'd be nice to know how much the tickets are going to cost.

Me too Maj. According to the football grounds guide though these decisions are based on how many we're likely to take and whether or not we have terrace at our own ground. Means they can charge us £4 more than they would be able to on the terrace too.

Suppose they are Northern though Paolo...every penny and all that!

They usually charge £16 seats £12 terrace so guess have chucked on a couple of quid to cash in

Very true Maj. Fair comment.

Ahhh hadn't realised they'd put the prices up too. Thought it was a lot for Conference football. Crap draw as we've played there recently. At least the ale's good up there though.

I haven't been there before, so was thinking of heading over for it, but £18 for a non-league team is a joke.

I fully intend on making use of the pubs on route to the ground from the station...arrive in Macc around 1pm, so plenty of time for a few beers (as well as those I've had on the way up!) Whilst I was a bit hesitant at 1st with the fact we only have seating, in hindsight I'll reserve judgement on a) the weather and b) the result as to whether being in the seats is/was worth it! At least you can get a h/t beer according to Footy Ground Guide in the seats!

Or the coach is late after getting caught in traffic. Just like me and hundreds of others did.
