Title: German Football Trip Post by: Crispy on Friday, September 6, 2013, 08:29:11 Heading out to Germany a week today for a 'lads football weekend' with a few of the boys.. Going to watch MSV Duisburg vs. SV Darmstadt 98 On Saturday and Fortuna Dusseldorf vs. Dynamo Dresden on the Sunday.
The question I put to you is, has anybody ever watched Football in Germany? What should we expect? 1 of the group goes over a few times a year and loves it, but is it really that good? Apprently the beer is good mind.. :beers: Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Not that Nice If I'm Honest on Friday, September 6, 2013, 08:46:36 They love it if you all get together and do the nazi salute, whilst putting your finger horizontally under your nose.
The police are particularly amused, they love it Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Dozno9 on Friday, September 6, 2013, 08:52:51 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=k8AgnL-VKug

Beer is great, not so keen on the German sausage personally!! I've heard Crispy prefers Wiltshire sausage... Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Crispy on Friday, September 6, 2013, 09:40:29 ive been four times now Dortmund, Hamburg,Bayern and Frankfurt, beers great night lifes a crack and the sausages are second to none! We tried to get Dormund vs. Hamburg tickets but no such luck so trying our hand with MSV Duisburg instead. We're staying in Dusseldorf Friday, Saturday & Sunday night. Bob's- I went to London for the Champions league final and was in Traf.Sq all day with Dortmund fans and they were all a great laugh. Just wasn't sure if they are hostile towards English at their home games. Dresen are a bit rough from what I've heard. The Germans love their football and are generally pretty friendly. Enjoy it Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Freddies Ferret on Friday, September 6, 2013, 11:45:40 Went to hamburger sv and it was awesome, the fans are the best I have seen
Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, September 6, 2013, 11:53:44 Went to hamburger sv and it was awesome, the fans are the best I have seen I think the sankt Pauli fans from the same city would probably disagree Vehemently with you!! Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Victor Mildew on Friday, September 6, 2013, 12:07:19 Went to The St Pauli's equivalent of the CGH spit and saw dust and loads of grafitti twas interesting but not as interesting as the Reeperbahn
Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: JanTheMan on Friday, September 6, 2013, 12:12:11 Went to a Bremen game a few years ago as couldn’t get St Pauli tickets and Hamburger were away. It was decent, only criticism is their atmospheres are a bit orchestrated. You know, the man on the microphone etc. Beats an average premier ship game mind. Plus you can drink, stand and smoke on the terraces. Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: ghanimah on Friday, September 6, 2013, 12:22:53 In general, or so i've been told.. I think that was a definite whoosh... Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Red Frog on Friday, September 6, 2013, 12:28:49 I think that was a definite whoosh... I was in Hamburg for the weekend with a girlfriend who was working out there. Best 0-0 I think I've ever see. Cracking atmosphere.
The only thing that confuses me now is that I remember the opponents as being VFL Bochum...but I tried just now to find a record of the game online and Bochum were playing in the Bundesliga that season. (This was definitely a 2. Bundesliga game.) Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: Costanza on Friday, September 6, 2013, 22:02:49 I've done Hamburg too. Build-up to the game with all the makeshift bars were great. Game was mediocre but the general experience made up for it.
Going to another Bundesliga game in a couple of weeks... Don't know which one yet as it's a surprise from the missus. My guess is Hannover, either way I can't wait. Title: Re: German Football Trip Post by: mystical_goat on Friday, September 6, 2013, 22:19:54 I watched Cologne vs a team Ruud Van Nistelrooy had just signed for, Hamburg I think. Atmosphere was decent, though not spectacular. We seemed to be sat in a bit where both sets of supporters were mixed and there was no hint of trouble. The police there are not to be fucked with, they were all kitted out in full riot gear with massive Alsatians. German sausage is crap, full of processed shit and low quality arsehole meat. Tastes ok if you don't think about it much. British bangers are much, much better.

British sausages are good, but don't buy anything labelled "banger" By calling them bangers, they are merely ensuring that they are not covered by the regulations on meat content, and will be full of all the shit bits that can't be used in sausages Public service broadcasting at it's best |
