Strangely those who were banging that particular drum seem to have lost their sticks in last few weeks.

I think said sticks have been well and truly shoved up their arse holes.

STFC and betting: 20+ years ago, that combination would have brought most of us out in a rash.

Still sends shivers down my spine.

I quite like the look of a cheeky punt on a win or draw on the Chelsea game.  Something in the back of my mind says they will put out the usual weakened side and we will be up for it. 

Its happened to them before under the Special One, Wycombe sticks in my mind a few years back. 

I agree, I don't think any of their top stars will play with the possible exception of fringe players like Torres, Essien & Schwarzer who need the match fitness.

I was crucified after the Gillingham match for suggesting a promotion push wouldn't be too far fetched...amazing what one win can do.

I suppose those who previously thought finishing midtable would be a successful season have now raised their expectations, and rightly so?

Bit early to be talking of a promotion challenge, as it is to be talking about relegation. Let's see where we are after 15 games.

My money was on as Champions before the season started @ 43-1.

I still think finishing mid-table would be a successful season.

I do think, from what we've seen, this team can do better than that, but they still have to prove themselves:

- on rainy mid-week bleak midwinter games on ploughed northern beaches.
- against top teams in the division
- against opposition who put our passing game under more concerted tactical pressure.

Until we've seen how they react to these scenarios it seems premature to raise expectations too high after one very good win in circumstances that suited us perfectly.

I am not getting carried away with this young side. Yes, things look promising, but I am still happy with mid tables for this season.

I'd still settle for, and am expecting, a midtable finish. I think this squad will be consistently inconsistent and as a result fall well short. We're a little bit light on cover in some positions and a lot of the remaining squad players have yet to figure and we will need them over the course of the season.

I am basing this entirely upon comments I've read on here and elsewhere as well as limited highlights so I reserve the right to be massively incorrect...

Two fairly innocuous comments that I can see, not sure that equates to getting 'crucified'. But well done.
