Title: McCririck the prick
Post by: oxford_fan on Friday, August 12, 2005, 15:05:58

had a dig at blair whilst giving a speach at robin cook's funeral, what a tosser. even if cook/mccririck (i doubt cook did, he was a top bloke and not one to bear grudges) had beef with blair then a funeral isn't a place for this type of thing. it's completely hypocritical to slate blair for not being there as a mark of disrespect, when you're giving a speech in front of his family and other mourners who quite obviously don't think it's the time or place for this type of thing.

if i were his wife/sons i'd have been furious.

Yeah, I caught this on the news.. what a stupid thing to do. Celebrate his life and respect his death, don't use his funeral as a platform for a political / personal dig.

Totally agree.  There is a time and place for these things and the funeral is not really one of them.  Although, i am afraid, it is quite common with people in the public eye!

I feel a bit sorry for Blair to be honest.  When is he supposed to take a holiday?  I am sure there is always some sort of excuse not to have a holiday but this bloke works bloody hard and probably needs one.

I remember Robin Cook mainly for

The Express go with "Lord Major's Pirhouette In Fire Chief Wife Decapitation" - grisly but gripping... The Sun: "Robin COCK!"... and The Daily Star: "Feel My Nose And Put My Specs There Roars Drunken Major"

i don't understand people who answer this way, why won't you say?

if it was lib dem, then you can't use the "blair doesn't deliver what he promises" argument because the whole of their manifesto is based on the fact that they'd never get into power (and they more or less admit that).

and if it was connie then help us god. if that party had got into power this year this country would be such a mess. they're so disorganised at the moment it's unreal, they need a new leader and a reform of structure. there were massive problems with their maths in the last election manifesto which would have resulted in massive deficits.

if you think any party has or will deliver what they promise then you'll never find anyone to vote for. its about damage limitation and labour was the clear party to vote for in the last election, there was no other option.
