Title: John bostock
Post by: Matt71 on Sunday, June 9, 2013, 11:45:59
Lots of rumour going around on twitter that he stayed in the blunsdon house hotel last night? Anybody heard anything? Would be great signing and don't think as expensive as people think.PLayed in the MLS since January for 1k a week just to play football according to an article from the mail online.

Depends on who else comes in for him. He didn't exactly set the world alight with his loan moves elsewhere so interest may be limited.

Seems a bit of a strange one. How strong are the rumours? Is it just someone who looks like him?

Surely as a contracted player at Tottenham he would still have been being paid per-week whatever was stipulated in the contract of his parent club?

‘Money was never my motivation,' Bostock said. ‘I turned down moves that would have earned me more but chose Tottenham because I was impressed about what they had planned for me.
‘It just didn’t work out. Yes, hindsight is a great thing, isn’t it? When I think back, of course it may have been better to have stayed at Palace for another year or two.

Therein lies the problem these days - the lure of the premier league.
Far too many young players jump ship only to warm benches eventually dropping into lower league obscurity

I'd have Bostock here next season! Very talented, created space in midfield with a good touch and a little burst of pace, would work in what i assume is KMacs preferred 3 man midfield.

I think similar to Roberts we only saw flashes under PDC but would now get more out of him.

I hope this isn't complete crap and happens.

Bostock, the eternal enigma. Talented for sure. Attitude, questionable I'd say. I still find it weird that Di Canio begged the board to get Bostock and when they did never picked the boy.

Has being the next big thing since 14 or 15 years of age ruined him like many a young player?

Good article that. This is the problem when a young player moves to a big team and then doesn't get enough regular first team action. Look at Scott Sinclair, he was the nuts when at Swansea, where is he now?

As I said in t'other topic, him staying at the hotel doesn't mean we're signing him, he could just be there visiting friends or something, but if we are signing him I'll be proper chuffed. Us and Kmac could be just what he needs, and he could be just what we need.

Agree with that HonkyTonk, Swindon, Bostock  and K Mac seems a good fit and if he has a decent agent who actually cares about his players development  then we might have a chance.

Did he have beef tans?

If he was on the roast beef and yorkies then I want him signed up.

If the god-bothering twat had the temerity to have pork and apple sauce then we need to pass on him...

Genuine. If I remember correctly it was whilst he was at Plymouth, and conducted a press conference from behind a curtain.

Did he have beef tans?

What's the beef with pork? And if it was a carvery he could have had pork and yorkies, beauty of a combo.

Honky, yeah I was only jesting about the pork thing. Trying to highlight how irrelevant all the speculation is I guess. You're right, Roast Pork is a thing of beauty.

Holloway: personally I love the guy. When he was at Plymouth I thought he was different class - properly nuts (it's the only time I've been interested in the local football scene down here in Devon).

I personally think the Blunsdon hotel is a shithole, I can't imagine a professional footballer choosing to stay there or being too happy about being put up there.

What's the deal with Louis Thompson anyway? To date his biggest impact in a Town shirt was a comical own goal against Macclesfield Town.

To be honest I haven't seen a great deal of him, he looked ok from what I saw but is it fair to build the lad up too much?

Would love to see Bostock back here and playing regularly, he was majestic at times, real rolls-royce footballer...

Been really impressed with Louis Thompson from what I've seen as well and even though he scored and OG against Macclesfield I thought he played pretty well.

That would be the own goal he scored when we were 1-0 down and he was the only fucker who tracked back and got the tackle in - unfortunately an own goal. The others had given up.

Sheff United at home? I know that was his first start and i didn't think he looked out of place at all. Ran himself into the ground in an hour mind but the stamina will come. If Louis has the same attitude to football as his brother then we'll be ok i reckon.

Bostock won't happen because Chang didn't break the story ;)

As for the Thompsons, they are both great lads and will be here for a while as they love the area round here, that is unless Bristol City coem into some money and prise them away, and that is not going to happen any time soon.

They will both be here for a few years yet.

Shame Caddis has decided to leave as Thompson and Caddis on the right would be a great sight.

I think a new left back is a priority but then Byrne may well be played there next season when he signs for us, even though its not his natural position he did fairly well there last season.

Ever since Kennedy/Cibo left our left back position has been flimsy at best. Jaymac didn't come good, and we've got no backup for him now macca's gone, other than our yoof players (I can't even remember who plays at left back).

Wayne Bridge anyone?

I meant could we get him in on loan, and I meant it as a joke.

People taking my posts seriously has been happening a lot recently...

There are lots of hotels a lot closer to Charlton. Unless he went to this particular one because he stayed there before whilst at Swindon, I can't imagine why he'd choose to stay so far away. But as Batch says, it ain't over till the fat lady puts a scarf above her head.

Title: Re: John bostock
Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Monday, June 10, 2013, 19:06:23
I don't think the signing of Bostock is as unrealistic as people may think. For all his early promise he has done nothing since and clubs were hardly queuing up to sign him when he was being touted around for a loan before he joined Toronto where he didn't impress at all.

What with him having been here before, and our new emphasis on youth, he may look at this as a decent option.

I would be very surprised if he joins a club who are any better to low to mid Championship standard.

It pains me to say it but Chang is right.

That Bostock had to go to Canada to get a game speaks volumes and I think even they sent him back early. We may not be paying what we have been but it may still be among the best offer he gets.

MLS is more than competitive.

Sending him to League Two and League One probably speaks more volumes!
