10 games.

I like him and think he's doing a decent job though he does make some very odd decisions.

I'll give him until it's obvious we're gonna really struggle this year.  In fairness with the team he has we should be ok.

my personal opinion is give him another 8 games- and if we're still in this relegation lark then he's had a fair crack of the whip

i mean relegation zone, relegation places, whatever you want to call it

at that stage it will be turning into an uphill battle if we're still down here

Home to Yeovil really should be a home banker, if we are stillat the bottom after that then get him out.

Yeovil are quite a good side.

Give the bloke a chance - he's managed to get this club on amazing runs before.  If we win the next 3 games and shoot up to near playoffs, these threads will disappear into obscurity.  If we're still near the bottom of the table i.e.: >15th by end of November I'd be concerned.

The problem is, what are the board's expectations?  Since the playoff season, the expectation has always been to make the playoffs, but with our financial belt ever tightening, does this mean expectations should be lowered?  Is a relegation dogfight really on our hands?  Personally I think playoffs is within reach and we should at least be challenging.

Fats were you in the Arkells or was it someone else going on about that yesterday?

What did you think if it was you.  I enjoyed it, although I reckon it'll be freezing in there in the winter, not much shelter!!

The Arkell's tends to be warmer than the Nationwide in winter, because it has its back to the wind if its blowing from the north....in the NW its straight in your face.....still can be freezing though and the de rigeur thing is to take a blanket to cover your extremities.

In fact a poncho would be good....not one of those wretched wooolen things that birds took to wearing recently more like this

If there is no marked improvement on Barnsley and what sounded like a shocking display at the start of last night then I'd have to go to the end of the month after Tranmere.

Unless we show some sort of marked improvement or have picked up at least a point and a win in the ldv then it's time to seriously consider the options.

However I think it’s still a bit early too judge the team and gaffer.  Crap pre-season warm up, lot of new players etc etc......

At least the halfwit looks to have finally realised that to play a short, attacking passing game you require an element of width and to generate width you need wingers.

What may be his saving grace is King's teams have always been marvellously consistent at being inconsistent.

For every season he has been here at some stage he has presided over some shocking and embarrassing runs of defeats, an absolute barrage of abuse and burnt his bridges with sections of fans with unnecessary throwaway comments.  While other boards would have long since decided his fate and given him the boot he’s then gone on to produce some inspiring runs of form that has taken us into the PO’s and a couple of near(ish) misses.

Perhaps not a great saving grace but as tempting as it is to scream for his head a little patience may pay dividends.

Pull yourself together Dave.

We've had a whopping 2 games, there's still the matter of another 132 points to play for.

That is all.

I have always thought this about us.Its the only way to make sense of a team that can beat good teams one week and the next throw away 3 goal leads against teams near the bottom.
I'm not too worried at the moment, but the trouble with games like last night is that it gives the king out group plenty to sing about and we are only two games into the season.

I am very, very concerned by the way King said that hoofing the ball to Fallon is an option. NO IT ISNT. Why why why why why why why WHY etc does he not realise when we PLAYED THE BALL ON THE FLOOR we scored twice?! He is a moron sometimes.

The answer is obvious. Until his contract expires, so that we don't have to waste money on compensation.

Totally agree with that, the long ball game doesnt suit us, when we knock it about we can rip teams to pieces.

Is he not on a rolling contract?  Or did I dream that?

i'd give him till christmas, then if things are really that bad, near the bottom of the table we can bring a new manager to sort things out and gets us away and then have enough knowleadge of the players to build for the season after....

in my opinion though, king will probably be better than anyone we bring in.

All I think he means is hoofing the ball to Cureton and Thorpe is not an option but if the players resort to that at least if we have a target man playing then it won't be such a waste.

i still think we shouldn't play it at all, king should be banging that into there heads!!

I think he's had long enough.....I'd prefer him to resign  so that we can get in a new manager, but failing that then the Reeeeeves option will have to be gambled on.

I've got fed up of insipid clueless performances against, lets face it teams that aren't the world's greatest.

Option "R" Reg is not an option worth considering, in my opinion.

he won't resign though, probably cause he wouldn't get a job anywhere else for a while!

One of Mark Devlin's reported departing legacies was to ensure that King could never hold the club over the proverbial barrel when it came to getting rid.

Written into his contract is supposed to be a clause that will mean any pay-off he receives will be no great shakes.

Can anyone confirm out of interest when he is actually contracted to?  I thought it was simply an annual rolling contract, which would leave any pay-off in the scheme of things that horrific.

It would be great to see a young ambitious professional manager in charge of the side with the full backing of the fans.

I think the original plan was to replace King with Mick Harford.  BTW Duke started last night's Darlo game on the bench. :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Err no it wasn't Nozza, Harford came here as a favour to his mate King for little or no money.

He was never considered as a replacement and would not want to replace a close friend of his.

Devlin backed King 100%. How much it would cost us to get rid is irrelevant, the subsequent relegation would be far more costly. As for a manager with the full backing of the fans, dream on - no chance at all that will happen when he have no money.
