Play-off semi-final first leg: Saturday 4th May
Play-off semi-final second leg: Tuesday 7th May
(subject to change due to TV/police)

Play-off final: Sunday 19th May

Don't they have one set of matches Friday and Monday and one Saturday and Tuesday?  That's what happened in 2010.

I think the dates are set for the Sat and Tues but one set of fixtures are then moved by Sky for televizzle.

Not trying to make a point or anything by posting these, I just had to look them up earlier as I need to book flights soonish!

no, the PO final will be on the 19th.

I stated in the post the dates for the semi-finals can change but it'll almost certainly only be a day either side.

When the Champions league was last played at Wembley, wasn't the final played at Old Trafford to look after the pitch?

Didnt UEFA put in some sort of stimulation previously that the pitch could not be played on x days or weeks before the chumps league final

It's a game we haven't had to play too often, but try and figure out who we'll get....my money is on Donny. They've to go Griffin Park on Saturday...win for Brentord takes them up leaves Donny 3rd.

They may well be on a down if they chuck it away....but we'd still have to play on that shit tip again.

Just considering what the demand will be for tickets and whether it will be adequatly satisfied (Bear in mind we filled the 3,000 capacity South Stand at Charlton for the Play-Off 2nd leg:

(taken from: http://www.footballgroundguide.com/ )

Yeovil Town FC

Away fans are situated in the Copse Road open terrace at one end of the ground. This is uncovered, so hope for a dry day. Up to 1,750 supporters can be housed in this area. Additionally 300 seats are allocated to away fans in the Screwfix Community Stand, which is covered. However tickets are only made available in this area to families with young children, senior citizens and ambulant disabled.

Sheffield Utd FC

Away fans are housed in the lower tier of the Jessica Ennis (aka the Bramall Lane) Stand at one end of the ground, where around 3,000 supporters can be accommodated. For cup games if the demand requires it, then the upper tier can be made available too.

Doncaster Rovers FC

Away fans are located in the Case Construction North Stand at one end of the stadium, where around 3,344 fans can be accommodated. If demand requires it then a portion of the East Stand can also be allocated.

Brentford FC

Away fans are housed in the Brook Road Stand at one end of the ground. This covered two tiered stand has 600 seats in its upper tier and room for around 1,000 fans below in the terrace.

Yeovil for the semi final would be best I reckon. We'll do 'em over two legs, easy, and their pitch isn't too terrible.

Whoever we get in the final, let's just hope it's third time lucky. Cunting Wembley.

brentford vs doncaster last game of the season is one hell of a match! i wouldnt mind playing the loser in the hope that they will be drained at missing out of autos. i still feel hard done by after the two brentford games this season. the first game there was nothing in it and in the second had roberts scored an open goal it would have been 2 nil and a possible step to victory. im worried about mcdonalds away tactics for playoffs as he has got it wrong in almost every one so far

Above all else, we need to win at Scunthorpe and thus give ourselves the best chance to have a first leg away from home. Whoever we end up playing it will be tough both physically and mentally. Personally I don't hold out to much hope and I tried last night to be more positive especially after two decent wins at home. Then I thought about who we played and that neither had anything to play for and thus those two wins should have been expected rather than hoped for. Hence a really moral boosting away win at Scunny would at least show the other play off teams some intent from our part,

Town in the Play offs should give plenty of opportunity for placing some win/win bets. Insurance, if Town go up great, if not then least you come out with a profit.

Remember Brighton in 03/04? Their allocation on a normally match day was 750. They had to extend ours to 1,200 odd I think as that was just ridiculous.

The dates are a fucking nightmare. Playoff semi home leg (assuming we are home first) clashes with Lumberjacks and something I booked for the Mrs Xmas on Fri and Sat respectively. Playoff final potentially clashes with sons league cup final match at the CG, hopefully for the love of god the latter is moved should we make it.

That and the fact that nearly half the town lost money betting on Crewe the other week, means the gods of fate obviously prefer it when Town fans start betting against themselves.

I think it would be beneficial if we finished 6th.

Hear me out. Next weekend Brentford V Doncaster to decide the second automatic place, whoever doesn't make it will surely feel deflated, especially if its Doncaster who have been up there all season. We could catch them feeling sorry for themselves and potentially nab a place at Wembley.

I know whoever we play will be difficult, but it could work in our favour.

If Yeovil win and Brentford don't next week then Yeovil will finish 3rd, so likely that we'd end up playing them.

Did you predict that Pompey would stuff em despite already being relegated? If you did I'll get down the bookies. :-)

To be honest I don't give a fuck who we get. If we turn up with the same intensity as the last two games we can beat anyone.

Negotiate. Ask her what she would like to do instead of going to this IOW shindig, making up some excuse as to why you can't go. Then you know what you're up against as a form of compensation. Don't forget that one of the play off semi's will be on the box and the final will be anyway. I am already making CONTINGENCY plans for Wembley just in case we get there. £200 will go a long way towards booze and succulent goodies for the proposed BBQ.

The second leg of the Saturday tie is usually the Tuesday night.  I wonder why they've brought it forward a day, so they're both on the Monday as?   48 hours doesn't seem much time in between.

I'm honestly dreading this.

It'll start off with a general mood of 'we're not going to win this' then something happens and the pessimism starts turning into optimism then you start believing and then it'll ultimately end in failure.

Can we still finish 7th?!  ???

Think it's because this year the season has finished a week early (Champions League), this means they can take advantage of the Monday being a bank holiday and stick two games on during the day. I agree 48 hours apart is far from ideal but no doubt they would argue that it's the same for both sides.

Booked a holiday so will miss the final if we get there... Not massively bothered, I can't fucking stand Wembley and at least if we lose I won't have spent half a months wages on a day that depresses me and I can drown my sorrows in the sunshine. Winning will be even better, although I'd probably be a little gutted I missed it then!

Will be a tough ask to get there, mind. I think we're the weakest team of the 5 who could finish in the playoffs at the moment. I'm sort of banking on all our bad luck being totally reversed in the month of May... Roberts scoring off his arse and the teams we face constantly hitting the post. I sort of hope its Donny or Sheff Utd purely for the bigger away end... Brentford would be mint on a bank holiday weekend though, especially if we win!

Two semi's in 3 days is ridiculous though. Our squad is inury hit enough as it is!

I was lucky enough to be in Vegas when we last got to the play off final.

Gutted after finding out that we had lost, but the cushion of Vegas certainly helped. I can't stand Wembley either, with it's over inflated prices and the fact that they drown out any sort of atmospehere with your run of the mill dance music at a deafening volume!

Awful place!

1st leg (match A) - Friday 3rd May 2013, kick-off 7.45pm
1st leg (match B) - Saturday 4th May 2013, kick-off 5.20pm

2nd leg (match A) - Monday 6th May 2013, kick-off 1.30pm
2nd leg (match B) - Monday 6th May 2013, kick-off 4.30pm

Play-off final: Sunday 19th May

Does anyone know how this equates to Home and Away Ties.

i.e. We finish 5th. We will be match B semi-finalists.

But will we be Home or Away in 1st leg ?

Think i might be able to just about work out what happens in the 2nd leg if I get answer above  :)

I've thoroughly enjoyed the Internet reaction to Swindon making the Play-Offs. It's been a loving mix of doom, gloom, cynicism, pretend lack of care and a form of low key optimism.

People (not within this thread) having been talking about the automatics like they were ours. We've been Top 10 all season and out of the 45 'matchdays' we've been Top 2 for just three of them. Like all seasons there are plenty of 'what ifs' but why over-dwell on it?

We're exactly where we deserve to be and thoroughly deserve credit for maintaining this position. If you don't like Wembley then don't go. If it's too expensive then don't go. This is modern football and very few of us don't know any different to this.

To conclude: Sit back and relax! Go to the games or watch them on Sky. I'm choosing to enjoy the prolonging of the season.

Top post Costanza. I'm going to love or hate the play offs based on the results but then that's what they're all about.

We have as good a chance as anyone and I'll be shouting myself horse hoping it'll be us who makes it.

Amen to that Costanza

A chance to expunge the awful recollections of the previous two Wembley occasions and atone for our "no-shows" (on and off the pitch) may well come around sooner than we anticipated. Let's make the very best of it  :beers:

Delighted that work is closed for the bank holiday and I can go regardless of who we are playing! Really excited for the ride of the playoffs now to be honest, rather than nervous, what ever will be will be.

If Sheff Utd result stays the same, we are unlikely to play them in the semis unless Yeovil lose, and both us and United win.  In any case we would be home second leg.

Ideally we want to win on sat, sheff utd and yeovil to lose.  We then play Yeovil home in second leg.

This is all assuming sheff utd lose tonight

Title: Re: Play-off dates 2013
Post by: RappersDelight on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, 20:09:47
sheff utd cant play at home on the 4th due to sheff wed at home on that day. if sheff utd finish 5th (they will be due to play at home on sat 4th) then I believe the ties will switch round and will play on the Friday instead

in otherwords we are likely to be playing home on Saturday 4th whether we finish 5th or 6th

They've even lost to Crewe. How shit were we at Bramall Lane!

Yeovil are a good team, yet if we get them then a trip to Wembley doesn't seem as far away.

We'll know who we're playing come Saturday. It really doesn't matter who we get, they'll give it a good go.

Well that's a turn up for the books tonight...there's not a lot of point in speculating at this point. Not quite as exciting as the last PO season, when 4 teams could have got the final auto...but nevertheless it will be intriguing.

Friday 3rd May 2013: Swindon V Brentford (7.45pm)
Monday 6th May 2013: Brentford V Swindon (1.30pm)

Not very confident but you never know in the play offs! Hopefully Brentford are still gutted from being so close... But then again we did just give away 3 goals in 7 minutes against a relegated side...

At least we have the late kick off on the Monday.
that doesn't make sense.

match A is 7:45 on Friday and 1:30 on Monday
match B is 5:20 on Saturday and 4:30 on Monday

and we have to swap with Sheff Utd apparently

Probably too early to ask the question...but does anyone know where you find out what channels abroad will be showing these?
I live in the U.S so will probably end up streaming them (unless they happen to be on Fox Soccer) through front row as usual, although witho annoying pop ups and a poor picture.

Another option is through Sky Go, put apparently I'd need to download some VPN software to change my IP address to a UK one? Any technical experts who would know a way of doing that for free?

I now have two choices of trains for the home leg,

I can get a train leaving Plymouth at 19:30 on friday getting into Swindon at 22:30
or I can work Friday night and get a train at 05:30 Saturday morning getting in at 08:30 thus re-earning the cost of my train ticket.

Both are the same price and take the same time! Decisions. Some times working for a nightclub is a ballache!
