Title: Edinburgh derby
Post by: Bob's Orange on Sunday, August 7, 2005, 08:54:57
My first Heart home game today.........against Hibs. Even though it isn't Swindon, the atmosphere at these games is very special!

There will be an enormous police presence today to boot as the Hibs casuals seek to cause bother.

Off shortly for my first cold beer of the weekend! :beers:

Looked a good game.

Partick are my scottish team, only because when I got my first Panini 70's sticker album I liked their kit, like the 75-76 one in the picture below.

Fucking awesome! Hearts weren't great but Hibs were awful!

Saw the first 'live' football hooligan act today. We were drinking outside a hotel as the weather was nice. It was about 5.30, an hour and a half after the game, and about 10 hibs fans came sprinting up the road giving it the big'un. Needless to say, the Hearts fans weren't having any of that and chased the numpties down the road armed with bottles and empty pint glasses. An ambulance was needed for a Hibee who tripped over the road and fell flat on his face!

Don't approve of football hooliganism, but when you get 2 teams in one city, I can kinda see where the passion comes from!

Something I noticed about George Burley at yesterday's game. His interaction with players was top class. He was constantly shouting encouragement at his players and applauding the good moves and this had an obvious positive effect on the players.  At the start of the second half, the players were defending very deep and he was screaming at his defence to push out and after that there was no problem. Hibs brought a rapid right winger (Ivan Sproule) on who immediately skinned 2 players and almost provided a goal. Straight away Burley brought on a pacy left back and after that, he never got a kick. After the game he went on the pitch and patted each one of his players on the head and gave the fans a warm round of applause. I think he is a class manager/coach. Burley looks like he cares about the players.

My point? Andy King could take a leaf out of George Burley's book and show some interaction with his players instead of puffing on his cigars like a fat mafia boss and blaming them for poor performances.  :old:

You wait till Burley's honeymoon period is over, remember after taking Ipswich to into the premiership he took them back to 19th in division one before he was sacked.

Loads of managers sit in the stands.

Sam Allardyce does it as well, he's not a waste of space.

But he is fat.

Aye but he is allowed to sit in the stand, he got Bolton into Europe. I'll be happy with King doing that when we are in Europe!  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:
