Title: Swindon V Orient Official Matchday Thread.

We should win and after the last 2 results we need to win, if only to curb some of the negativity that's started to be spouted all over the place.

1st Home game of the season for me, I hope they don't let us down, Orient have started woefully and we arent bad at home to say the least.

I am hoping we play them off the park.

We haven't let a goal in at home for ages - they haven't scored at all - so

It all points to a hard-earned 3-2 win

Where's SSWS???

No disrespect to SSWS, who had an awesome season last year, but perhaps a more experienced head is required to get out of this division.  Herthab knows what's required to win promotion form this league, SSWS is just too young to have this experience.  A brave move, but I support it.

I would argue not.  He did the job required of him, and did it well.

Lord Herthab has a good sound to it mind...

Think the signs were there during pre-season when SSWS displayed a certain arrogance, towards the rest of the forum in assuming he was safe as No 1, with back up only the untested Herthab. Think it is this, that has led to him being withdrawn rather than the errors at Preston and Oxford, an apology would be helpful....

You never know.  He may have pulled.  Last tweet I saw from him said something about watching the england match with the womens football team (with hashtags fit and potentialesbians).

So the following are possible and frankly what I would expect of him

A.  Got talking to one of them, realised he had so much in common with her, went on to a quieter bar where they further explored their burgeoning friendship and realised that there was something stronger and more beautiful there.  Then went back to digs and had disappointing sex.

B.  Got really really pissed before being dragged back to student digs by the large slightly psychotic centre back of the ladies football team and was forced to have disappointing sex.

C.  Got really pissed, thrown out of the union and the kebab shop, vomited on himself, slept in a gutter for a while before going back to his digs to have disappointing sex with himself.

D.  Just got pissed went home and overslept.

And yes I am jealous.  I loved being a student.

Today will be interesting. I didn't see the passion that Pdc said his players showed on Wednesday. Is there still shit behind the scenes or are we just pretty crap away from home? This game should go some way to answering it. It will be interesting to see the team selection today - who partners Macca at the back?.
I'm going for a nervy 2-1 win to get our confidence back up and no scapegoating from Pdc who has his usual post match love in from the crowd and order is restored before we draw away at Carlisle.

Got a feeling we’ll see him start today. The starting line up is a bit of a lottery, but I’ll go for:

Foderingham

Devera
McCormack
Ward (hard on Flint)
Bessone

Ritchie
Ferry
Miller
Bostock (or RdV)

Williams
Collins

I did issue an apology in DRS's phantom thread yesterday.

Missed it first time round, but seen it now....that's good enough for me.

SWS owes everything to the TEF, and we shouldn't forget he had a fantastic breakthrough season last year, despite according to the lady's football team, his size not being everything they'd look for in a modern day thread starter.

Don't think we need to make any subs, we just need to keep the ball on the deck.

We never really got going. Look a little hesitant on the ball which suggests a lack of confidence. Once or twice we've got it down and looked dangerous, but on the whole it's been uneventful. I have nothing against Devera but he's been poor today - every pass seems to go to a blue shirt and he's out of position as often as not.

Keeping it on the floor and introducing Ferry could make a big difference here. Agree with Samdy though, substitution not vital.

Well that was a bit shit.

If Orient had been any good we could easily be a couple of goals behind.
The one time in 45 mins that we decided to pass the ball to a red shirt on the floor we created a chance. It might be a good idea to keep doing that.

We are being drawn into hoofing the ball long, and when we do their centre halves win everything and they pick up the loose ball.

Not too concerned, a theme of our performances under Paolo are average 1st half performances only to step it up in the 2nd half.  Orient are still there for the taking.

We can count ourselves lucky not to have gone in behind at half time.

We don't seem to have settled into the game at all and playing far too many long balls and wayward passes.

Hopefully the second half will see an improvement.

Interesting comments at Devera being out of position (which he has been), however it doesn't mention that it is often because he is covering for an out of position Centre Half.

Based in the first half you would struggle to pick out someone who has played well

If them closing us down was a problem, I'd rather see us pass it back than hoof it up. At least that way we'd get to keep the ball. If the they want to keep on running us down, make the fuckers keep on running throughout the match.

We were shit. Orient did a job on is and looked the more threatening all day. The better team won.

Defence were poor, midfield non existent and we created very little.

The ref got a lot of absue, but he wasn't that bad, definatley not the reason for our defeat.

Oh well, on the upside I managed to get the 10 past five 5 train for once.  :)

We were absolutely terrible today from front to back. The earlier post about playing with fear is spot on - we know these players are good enough but they were a shadow of what they are capable of today. Mispaced passes, poor control, full backs who can't overlap or cross, a complete lack of movement from the midfield.

7 pretty awful days for the club, cued by Di Canio’s outburst last week. He acted like a fool today as well. Managers up and down the country lost today but I bet he was the only one to come onto the pitch twice to remonstrate with the ref. He was completely unprofessional and any competent ref would have sent him to the stands. I wonder who he is blaming on the radio now?

That was the poorest performance that I've witnessed at the CG since the 2010/11 season.  The only positives I can take from today's game is that it's early days, we know we're better than that and it might be a wake up call that League 1 is going to be alot tougher than some perhaps thought?

I agree with Adje's point about the team having an air of nervousness around them and also the number of players that have been brought in.  At the moment I'm struggling a bit to see what some of them are offering that we didn't have in the team already or dare I say it, got rid of?

It's been a bad week.  I'm starting to think it might have been better if we'd lost at Stoke, as it seems to have been downhill ever since.

You could see why Orient were bottom of the League, they couldn't have finished a small cake. If they could have put away some of the golden chances we gifted them we should have lost that by 3. Crap. (And no I didn't boo, but I didn't join in the equally unmerited clapping at the end either)

We desperately need to replace Caddis with someone who can attack, big part of our game has gone with his departure. Can't keep playing a centre half out of position as Devera has his limits.

Very poor all round, wouldn't worry too much as it's early days and it is now for Di Canio to find our best 11 out of a big squad.

Williams and Collins were dire as was the Devera/Flint partnership on the right. No creativity and it would have been good to see Bostock get a run out as he is the only one of our central midfielders with that extra attacking quality that can get a goal from nowhere. Looking forward to Roberts returning on the left, we will have a real threat on both wings then and that is the main part of our game.

He was pretty restrained on the radio, sounded a bit shell-shocked. Just said some of the players are saying they're training too hard and saying they need a day off, but for him when you play badly the answer is to work harder not take time off. Which I think has been pretty well advertised as being his philosophy so they can't really complain (to anyone apart from their own agents maybe)

Title: Re: Swindon V Orient Official Matchday Thread.

POP! The bubble has burst. We played like a team devoid of any confidence. Pretty much the same team that outplayed Franchise and Stoke played like 11 strangers. Both full backs were fucking crap. Like others have said we're really missing Caddis. The Argie looked quite handy against Oxford but he was absolutely crap today.

How many shots have we had on target in the last 3 games? 3 or 4? We wouldn't have scored today if we played all night.

The ref was fucking useless. He did nothing to stop the time wasting and fell for every fake injury and dive. What a prick.

Dog shit from front to back but good news is a whole week to prepare for two pretty hard games coming up. We have players to come back and players who will improve so it's looking ok for me.

We need a right back without a doubt and as much as I like Devera at centre back he's not a right back whatsoever. The front two need decent service from the wings which isn't happening as we are too deep due to the full backs hanging back.

Miller and Navarro are the same player, they hang back together and go forward together. I think Coke will be a cracking player for us and should replace one of those when fit and Ferry should start with no doubt at the moment.

It's been a shit week for results but it's been a decent month so far, 4 points from the next away games would be great and put us in a good position, YES WE CAN!

That brought back memories of the Hart days - just like last time we played Orient at the CG or Yeovil or Notts Co or a number of others that year - please let's not go back to that place.
No spark whatsoever - as a number of posters have said they looked nervous and di Canio said so too in his post-match interview.
I would have liked Bostock to have come on to try something different as nothing was being created.
I do worry a bit about the strikers - Collins didn't seem to be sharp enough and Williams is quick and gets in the right positions but has a poor first touch and often loses the ball (that's been the same in all 3 home league games).
Devera is no right back - he's a good defender but not much threat going forward and wanders off into the centre too much - the Orient LB and LW had far too much space most of the time.
I thought Bessone looked a good acquisition - he put in a few wild crosses late in the game but overall looked solid & skillful.
And enough said about the woeful gift of a goal - why can a professional defender not take responsibility for ensuring that a weak cross is cleared?

Poor game...well done to Orient today....there tactics were spot on.
Think Williams was poor and needs a goal......how many games is he going to get...Connell was lucky to get a run of two games without scoring before the drop....that said the whole team looked poor and we are deffo missing a ball winner in midfield......that said i was totally appalled and pissed off at some of the mongs today dishing out abuse to Rooney....totally unacceptable and it was very hard not to tell them to shut the fuck up.
Got a week off now and personally reckon the break is needed....to be honest the players looked jaded today for some reason.
First home defeat for a long time and i for one will give the team my support...unlike some of the cretins i had the misfortune to spend 90 mins with today.

Could you ask him to do his little fucking arm dance he kept doing that apparently meant hurry up and then do nothing about it when its ignored.  Also ask him why you allow a trainer on if a player has some mud in his eye?  Call me mad but unless the twat is blinded he can walk off the pitch and be seen to.

We were shit, the loss had nothing to do with him, but he really was a clueless cock juggling thundercunt.

Poor game, poor performance, Orient seemed to want it more than us. It was like going back to 2 seasons ago...there was no spark, no creativity and I don't think we'd have scored all night!

Hope this week 'off' helps ahead of the long trip to Carlisle. I do believe we are missing a RB, no offence to Devera but I don't rate him there.

Onwards to next Saturday...

We were dire today, but let's put some things into perspective. Unbeaten at home for over a year and only 1 goal conceded in 18 matches, however, some twats in the arkells enclosure, behind the dugouts, would have you believe that we are relegation candidates!

Devara was appalling and it will continue to be a problem position until we get somebody on loan. This was not helped by flint. How he got mom is beyond me. Nobody but Ritchie, and as a cameo, Benson came out of the game with any credit.

Bad day at the office. Let's move on. Next!

They were shit, we were shit and the ref was shit. The amount of time it took to make that substituion was laughable. Ferry should've started, I think we miss Caddis or a decent RB, I hate hoofball with a passion.

I think we started the 2nd half well, but we just faded into the background, sat back and invited them onto us, we looked devoid of ideas, no-one really looked like they wanted the ball and we didn't win many 2nd balls.

The ref was the worst I think I have ever seen he looked like a sunday league ref I could go on and on about the ref. As for the boo's I think they (hope) they were directed at the special needs referee.

Basically it was a shit day at the office, no need to press the panic button.

Awful game and it showed where certain players are not up to playing the positions they were playing today.  Devera was awful.  Ok Caddis has gone, but what he gave us was a natural right footer on the right as we play inverted wingers.  De Vita works hard but is never a winger.  Even thou hes improved.  We lack pace out wide and the ability to get behind teams.  I admit i hate inverted wingers, i want to see a winger beat his man and get the ball in with the defence turned.  This for me would give our strikers much more chance.

Today was on a par with when we went down.  Lacking ideas, and with players looking scared on the ball.  A lack of desire to want to do something.  I would have put Williams on the wing in the 2nd half and taken De Vita off.  It may have got Orient turned and us in behind and able to get balls into the box.  As it was we never got in behind them.  And when we get anywhere near our wide player come back out onto thier better foot to try to get the ball in giving the defence more time to organise.

Cunting awful. I haven't seen Swindon play that shit for ages. All our good work over the past year was forgotten. There was perhaps a two minute spell where we played the game that we'd done so well with over the past year.

All our crosses were awry, Ritchie was selfish (although understandably so), Devera has never been Caddis, Miller and Navarro are not working as a midfield pairing. Collins and Williams were absent.

Ref was shite too.

Really properly disappointed from the last week. What a microcosm of being a Town fan this has been. Elation followed up by shattering frustration and anguish.

Nevertheless, we've only lost a few matches early on in the season. We'll recover from this. I just hope Di Canio learns some lessons from the past week and we move on for the better.

COYR.

I wont knock De Vita's effort as a rule and he backs up his full back better than say a luke rooney.  But for me wingers are there to get crosses in.  He is a striker playing wide for me.  He isnt that quick and for him hes playing on the wrong side.  He got one cross over with his left in 2nd half with no real quality and when he cuts back onto his right foot his crosses are as a rule poor.  Hes playing out of position for me.  Last season the league was worse so you can get away with it.  I dont think you can when you move up.

When we had Danny Ward he was naturally left footed and had pace.  So he played the position easier as it was more natural to his assets as a player.  De Vita is a square peg in a round hole and always has been playing wide.  Just like Devera playing right back.  He will win his headers and tackles but going forward hes a centre half and shows it.  No forward quality whatso ever.

Going forward Devera is shit.  No quality on the ball at all.  This has always been the same.  Defence wise hes ok.  Will win headers as hes a centre half and tackles.  We won games before so his lack of forward quality was covered over.

Last season most fans think our main strength was the triangle of Caddis, Ferry and Ritchie.  We had that link up. Caddis giving us a natural right footed crosser down that side, with Ritchie cutting back onto his left and shooting.  It balanced well.  We have now lost that balance.

Midfield bypassed and no build up from the back.  Why?   SciFi changed the pattern a little but the touch remained poor thereafter.

Williams was manhandled by Chorley all afternoon and it was clear that the ref would give nothing so he needed to man up or earn a dangerous free kick.  Devera - an honest centre half but nowhere for their back post goal and and when he finally got Caddis-like onto a great ball into their penalty area he smashed it wastefully into the sidenetting.  On the other flank Bessone generally fluffed passes and crosses all afternoon and failed to give De Vita any options that could have hurt Orient.  I thought Adam Rooney looked like he could be useful and it was a well timed run that earned him his fluffed chance (but I thought he was under subtle unbalancing pressure from two Orient defenders)

Ultimately there was a real absence of clusters of players supporting one another before looking to switch play or cross etc and way too much hit and hope and look for the knockdown.

Ritchie took a rocketing volleyed cross plum in the face but was up and running really quickly.  He does put in a shift both ends and it was good to see his extension to 2013 had been completed.

I suppose we will have to see how PDC manages his large squad and how they gell and combine.  Personally I'm used to a younger player coming in (eg Storey, Thomson etc) if need be and being looked after by the senior pros and a regular starting 11 with 2 or 3 preffered subs who really understand one another's game.

Looking forward to Roberts coming back but no player can do much on his own and today was not a team performance

To be fair to Rooney I think maybe he should have dived under the challenge, he did look like his the ground was made of toffee as he was running, I did think he would score though saying that but it was a very poor miss in the end.

Devera was drawn in to centre back too often leaving the winger out free, at times we did look like we were playing with a left back and 3 centre backs, and his shot at the townend was very poor when a cross would have been better.

But saying that Orient had a game plan to stop us playing and they did that very well if not in an attractive way, add to that some awful timewasting (a well known Slade trick) and a dubious ref and it just wasn't going to be our day.

The weird thing was it wasn't just a case of us hoofing it up because we were lacking ideas, it seemed to be Di Canio's gameplan from the beginning. If they weren't doing what he'd told them he'd have been leaping up and down and giving them a rollicking, but while we were all muttering discontent as another ball sailed over Williams or Collins head he sat placidly accepting in his dugout without complaint. The even weirder thing is that he should think that the correct gameplan to match-up at home to Leyton Orient, bottom of the table with no points, with big centre-backs who could comfortably head those balls away all day, battling with Williams and Collins two strikers who's strengths are pace and balls played into their feet!

That was shit from start to finish. No players come out of that with any credit -nor does Pdc who could do nothing to change the game. Ferry was the obvious sub but he was dogshit too.
Tactically we were totally inept. Physically we were totally inept. As against the Scum I didn't think the players gave too much of a shit. Did we win a second ball all game? Every physical challenge was lost. Hoofing the ball up - unless it was a PdC tactic - is normally the sign of a team lacking confidence or scared. I'm pretty sure if I was Flint, devera or devita, I'd be feeling a bit shit after what was said Wednesday. i just hope Pdc isn't losing the dressing room.
Fair play to Orient thuogh. They'd done their homework and if it was 3-0 it would have been a fairer result.

Poor performance and hope that this was just a blip but too many players looked as if they really did not want to be out there even PdC was noticeably absent from the touchline for most of the game. Also hope that all the shenanigans since the start of the season is not making them too worried about making the smallest mistake, hence the "I will get rid of the ball as quick as possible so I cannot be faulted" crept into the play and is not what I expected or want to see.

Full marks to Orient as they did a job on us and we did not have the players on the pitch to change a game to any extent which is a bit of a worry as is the inability of our strikers to strike. Had this one down as three home points with a zero up at Carlisle so anything up there would be a bonus.

Navarro and Miller need to be replaced by our 2 best players - Ferry and Bostock.

No point subbing two forwards for another 2 forwards when there's no creativity in midfield.

Players look full of fear after Pdc's week long rant of slating them - nobody wanted to be the one who made a mistake and incurring further wrath.

This defeat falls at PdC's feet

Sure. If you're interested, i'd also put Ferry in midfield every game from the beginning (bound to win me a few points with the fans), start wiley Benson alongside one of Collins/ Williams up front, and give Nathan Thompson a go at right back instead of Devera. I'd also recall Caddis in January, get along swimmingly with Wes Foderingham and miraculously heal Gary Roberts and Troy Archibald-Henville's injuries.

I'll give Di Canio a few more games to win me back though. And then: violent and bloody coup.  :suicide:

The ref was pretty useless. I didnlt have too many issues with him in the 1st half but in the 2nd he was woeful. He was not responsible for our defeat and i thought the Town End chants of 1-0 to the referee were pretty embarassing - as was the cunt behind me (V177) in the DRS who was slagging off Bessone all game.

I had a similar experience with a ginge in V56. Only he hated Williams.

Not a chance, no one likes a ref, which is why I never give them too much stick. It's a shit no win job

The town end counting when the opposition keeper has the ball is irritating as fuck and more than a little tinpot

We were really poor. Disappointed Bostock never got on the pitch. Devera's limitation going press being exposed at home.  Wouldn't mind seeing Thompson getting a go but think Pdc will go into the loan market.

Two tricky away games to come and the first real test of Pdc managerial career right here ...

Added to the fact it took them about 5/6 seconds to count to 10

It seems that every week we "get shit refs", this implies we actually get average refs.

No point adding anything to what's already been said here about the match.

I dont think PDC has lost the dressing room - yet, but his treatment of Caddis and Flint must have them all wondering 'who's next?'

I hate to contradict myself, but I think the shoddy treatment of Paul Caddis runs a lot deeper than we thought and was the start of the slippery slope IMO.

He wasn't just captain by name. He was instrumental in welcoming new players and their families to the club, he was a shoulder to cry on / mate / conduit to DiCanio etc etc as well leading by example on the pitch and being one of the first names on the teamsheet every week.

You cant just fucking erase someone like Caddis from an organisation that encourages, promotes and relies upon a positive feeling of cameraderie amongst it's playing staff, and expect everything to OK with those who remain behind.

I think DiCanio will have to earn his salary trying to repair some pretty substantial confidence issues in the next couple of weeks, or he could find himself suddenly under pressure from more than one quarter.

Refs are always a little bit more shit when you are losing. Didn't hear any boos at half time just a few groans but plenty of boos at the end from all three stands which really pisses me off. Agree about the hoofball and can only assume Paolo has adopted a more direct tactic now Collins and Williams have come in. Orient work harder than us but we certainly didn't help ourselves today with a pretty dire team proformance. We won't be picking up as many points as expected playing hoofball and need to realise we're not the big boys of Div one and will need to earn points and not just expect them.

I'm not that worried if I'm honest, yes we have lost 3 games in a row but I would never get on Di Canio's back.
Is this week the first week without a midweek game? If so 2 games a week after a tought pre season is going to be hard work.
We did the same last season, lost 4 games in a row and everyone began to panic. Paolo knows what he is doing, we have a very strong squad and he will get us out this league.

just watched the highlights from the FLS.

difficult to make any confident judgments but we look shocking at the back, totally all over the place. going forward we still look ok but lack any cutting edge and Rooney's attempt was pathetic, as was Devera's strike near the end.

i'm going to bury my head in the sand and think back to our poor spell last august and september where we lost 6 out of the first 11 matches.

Didn't get back til late last night, it's a hell of a long trip home when we lose in that fashion!

I think most things have been said already, and I agree with most.  I was bemused with our long ball tactics & felt Orient could deal with us all day, Richie spent too much time at RB because Devera was sucked in the middle, but still remained the only player imo who was likely to salvage anything for us.

We can blame the performance on loads of things, tactics, subs, ref, player fear, whatever, but for me it's a stark reality check.  We have come down to earth with an almighty bump after the Stoke game, but we'll come back stronger.  L1 is stronger than L2, we got out of L2 by playing football, we'll get out of L1 by playing better football, we have the squad & the manager to do this & we'll learn from what has been a horrible week.

I'm still upbeat, if a little tired and miserable following the journey yesterday, PDC will have to get us playing again, to our strengths. We're a very good team in this league, but we still have to perform week in week out, there will be no easy games.

Finally, I'd like to see McEverley back & give Thompson a go at RB.

Couldn't agree more. That was really not worth the time, effort and money that go into making a 300+ mile round trip to see your team play. They didn't do one single thing right all afternoon and as has been said, could have played until Monday and would not have scored.

I can't remember the last time I was so gutted after a game.

Fair play to Orient though, they deserved the win.

I cannot disagree at all with that, I only had a 220 mile round trip and luckily thanks to Flash I didn't have to buy a ticket but I have not felt so upset after a game since Hart was in control. So much so that I was a little angry to the bloke that wanted to interview me after the game for the Football League show last night, he seemed too happy when he approached me for an interview I just said in an upset voice I am very sorry but I am not in the mood to be interviewed at the moment.

Saw the FL show highlights. Judging from the Hoofball comments it can't have given an accurate impression of the actual game.

Anyway what did we expect, we have a team stuffed full of Britishers. They can't cope with warm sunny weather. We needed more foreign players for that. But wait and see what happens on cold and wet Tuesday Saturday in Carlisle. The wheels will firmly be put on then.

Only caught the last half hour of this game and got the stream up and running literally as the ball crossed the line. The brief replay I saw as I fought to close down some advertisements that plagued the stream, seemed to suggest Flint lost his balance and lifted his foot when he should have cleared. That lads confidence must be shot but I've said this before, I don't think the lad is a natural footballer, he is a headerer.

After all the ranting by Di Canio in the press and the Oxford performance i kind of expected us to get beat on Saturday as when the players were warming up at Oxford they looked rattled and not quite up for it and this Saturday they all looked shit scared of the football as most probably scared to make a mistake and be Di Canio's next victim.

Title: Re: Swindon V Orient Official Matchday Thread.
Post by: LJ9 on Monday, September 10, 2012, 10:52:12
I think PDC has put the fear into these players and for me this is completely wrong.

It doesn't allow them to play the free flowing, attractive football we did at the start of the season. The players are afraid to make mistakes and so will not take the risks as they live in fear of getting a backlash from PDC himself or a public humiliation.

Just think its time to tone to down the lambasting of the players through the media and just allow them to play how they were playing. The media are loving the PDC factor at the moment and never in my life have I seen a team in L1 been given so much attention before, during and after a league game. All this added into the mix is inevitably transferred to the players on the pitch and their performances and the last 3 games is the result of the way PDC is using the media outlets to put down players.

Great post LJ9, the players looked very tentative Saturday...whether it was fear or something else going on I don't think anyone is 100% on. I admire Di Canio and his passion, but there is a line and I personally feel recently he has crossed the line in the lambasting of players in the media. The confidence looks low, but fair play to Flint for getting MOM Saturday!

Sometimes we just have a collectively shit day. Sometimes the opposition play better than us or employ tactics we can't cope with.

I'm sure some players will be pissed off Caddis has gone, some will be pissed off with PDC's public slatings in general.  But some may even respond positively to both situations. Its a bit early to say he's lost them just yet!

To be fair, though, PdC is not tolerant regarding attitude - individual mistakes he can accept (up to a point).

The start is no different to last season and I'm sure come the next 2-3 games the team will evolve into what PdC wants and expects.

He has a lot of players at his disposal and I'm not quite sure he knows which is his best XI.

My only criticism, and this is purely as a fan, is why Bostock and Ferry are not 2 of the first names on the teamsheet.

Bostock not coming on at all on Saturday was a bit of a puzzler

Back from hols and have read most of what has gone on (none of it sounding too great!), but i've not managed to find much on Bessone/Coke/A. Rooney - what are peoples opinions on them all? As exciting as deadline day was, I was of the opinion we'd built a bit of a big squad, and was worried it would unsettle our squad which had gotten off to a fairly decent start. Obviously if they are all much better than what we had then it should be a positive move.

From the right hand side of the Town End I heard no booing directed sirectly at "Roo-urns" but there was a large amount of booing atthe final whistle and a little bit of barracking of Rooney when he missed what looked a good chance and a little bit aimed at Devera for his poor positioning in the first half for leaving the right winger free all the time.

The were a lot more shouting aimed at Di Canio, and a lot of it saying he should "fuck off" or that if someone made a mistake there was a shout of "get him off Di Canio you did it with Wes" sort of shouting going on for most of the game.

This did surprise me to start with but then I thought about it and realise a lot of these fans were probably forum users of "ThisIs".
