Title: Striker at Coventry
Post by: dporter on Thursday, May 24, 2012, 12:24:31
Whilst having a tour of the Ricoh today they guy told me one of our strikers was up here today having talks. They do have an embargo atm but Cov still saw him. He didn't know his name. Any ideas who it might've been?

If Kerrouche signs for Coventry then hes batting way above his average.

I can't see it, and as stated above Coventry are currently and for the foreseeable future in a transfer embargo.

Although a new Chinese investor has been identified at Covvy.

This should answer your question Mr Batch.

Its a strange situation when you've won the league and news like this comes but rather than worrying about losing a striker, it doesnt seem a problem.  The only one of our strikers Id be bothered about losing is Benson really and even that wouldn't be that much of a wrench.

I find it hard to get used to my feeling where I think, you know what, if we lose one, we'll get better replacements.  That's just not the Swindon way.

Our club is a selling club always has been, the difference is now, the current board have a strategy as opposed to taking the first offer that comes in.

In fact, pretty much 88 of the 92 clubs are selling clubs, bar City, United, Chelsea and possibly either Liverpool or Tottenham.

As long as we sell our players for a good price and get suitable replacements, then Im happy.

I see Barnsley put in a bid for Greer.

Bodin?

Bodin?

If any of this is true then you'd expect Bodin to be knee-deep in Play-Off related stuff at the moment.

With a club that he doesn't have a contract with.  Important match coming up yes, but what is more important to him, getting Crewe up or the next 3 years of his life?

If we can get Kerrouche off the wage bill then that's superb.

Can't see it being Connell or Magera, although getting shot of the 'Czech International' would be most welcome.

He said he isn't going to discuss our contract offer until after the play-off so you'd assume the same would apply to going to Coventry to discuss a move.

Of course not.  He knows what we are offering him, so he doesn't need to make a decision until after the play off final.  However he doesn't know what sort of wages Coventry are offering, so less likely to leave it until after the play off finals.

Coventry are offering no wages to any new players because they are under a transfer embargo.

Kerrouche it is then.

I think you can talk to players. I recall Southend and Plymouth having players lined-up pending takeover and the lifting of their respective embargos.

He hasnt even opened his contract offer from us yet and has pretty much been told not to open it till his season is over....

The Adver/Bodin pretty much said as much the other day.

Unless you can see the un opened envelope on his kitchen table then I don't see how you know it's true.  Because Bodin told you?  Because it was in the paper?

Come on DV, you know better than that.

Yes, he told me - and he'd know - wouldnt he?

Now, I know that makes me sound like a complete and utter stalker fan boy - but he did genuinely come up to me and start talking to me like we were old friends. Very odd.

To cut a long story short, himself and the adver article pretty much said he's concentrating on the play off final. Unlike the rest of STFC his season hasnt finished. He was told to finish his season first

Now, if he opens and reads the contract now then thats going to occupy him mentally whilst he supposed to be preparing for a massive game, which despite the fact he isnt a Crewe player as such could be the biggest game of his career.

Now, he might have lied his balls off to me - but the above all makes decent and logical sense to me.

Title: Re: Striker at Coventry
Post by: Berniman on Friday, May 25, 2012, 17:40:44
My point is, he isn't going to say anything else is he.  I knew that you had met him via your FB, but just because he is saying that doesn't make it true, if he says he has opened it then it leads to further questions.

If I had the contract, and it concerned the next 2 years of my career and how much money I was being offered I would have read it, at least then if other offers come along I know what I am judging it against.  Knowing what rise I am going to get wouldn't affect how I play on Saturday, at Wembley, in the biggest game of my career.  Wembley and the prize for my non contracted club would be all the motivation I would need.

My point still stands, if he hasn't read it then his agent would have and would have told him what they were offering.

I might be wrong, but I believe you are naive to believe what a player or paper has told you, especially when it comes contracts, especially as you stated it as if a fact.

Well you don't, and you do but....

I don't actually give a shit whether he has opened the contract or not....   but, if you don't want people to question what you are saying, don't reply with a condescending post trying to make me sound like a twat

All I did was make an observation that it could be Bodin.  I don't know that because it was just an observation.  I couldn't really give a fuck whether he fucks off to Coventry, Crewe or Torquay because I was making an observation.....

I also didn't realise that you are sleeping with him, because you seem to know what mail he has opened.

In short, if you don't want people questioning your statements of fact, try winding your neck in DV, you don't need to act like a prick, you have nothing to prove here, we all know you.  Unless you are trying to get in my pants too?

As for the rest of the posts, I can't work out if they were backing me up or sarcastically slapping me down so I will stay away from those. :D  I think I had my fill of sarcasm from Jesus's posts.

I'm not crying, I learnt a long time ago on the TEF not to get wound up to the point of losing it.  I think my main adversaries in the past have been the likes of Dell Boy, Arriba and the Flash.  Can't remember what about, and I doubt they do either.

I like you in real life DV but you do take on an alter ego on this forum where your confindence exudes to a level of cockiness sometimes.  I agree with much of what you say, but please reign in the condescendence of some of your posts.  I know it's the role that you think you need to play on here but you really don't.  I must admit that sometimes it is funny, but not at the expense of trying to make somebody else look like a dick, unless it is an Oxford fan or somebody that obviously deserves it.

But you are right, again, it is only a forum.  Now you enjoy the rest of your night with Billy and let me know when he tells you if he is starting on Sunday.  :)

Yes.

An alter ego that the TEF pretty much gave me by consistently telling me I was all those things before I was all those things.

Sadly, like most nights I'm at work and dont think my new best mate Billy is going to pop into Royal Mail for a chat.
