Title: Windows media player problem Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, May 12, 2012, 17:05:46 Hello folks. I have a problem with windows media player. Whenever I open it, it uses upwards of 90% cpu which is very annoying.

Then do this: Start > Control Panel > Sound > Playback Tab > Double-click "Speakers/Headphones" > Enhancements Tab > Check "Disable System Effects" and now it starts right up! WTF are the System Effects and why would they slow down the playing of media!?
