Title: Long distance fans
Post by: Sam Morshead on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, 09:15:51
Morning TownEnd-ers,

I'm looking to get in touch with Town fans living and supporting the club from abroad. If anyone can spare a few minutes for a chat at some point please pop me a message or email [email protected].

Apologies for another dose of spam.

Sam

I applied for a job at the local council there once to be the elections manager - at that stage they were translating all the application forms into 17 different languages.

Same as in Bedford, after London we have people living here from the most number of foreign countries.

Going shopping sometimes you don't hear an English voice, and the council spends loads on interpreters every year as they all come in and can't speak a word of English....

I moved to Florida last year and supported town for 4 months from afar.  For reasons beyond my control I came back in February though, so I don't know whether this counts.

Don't get me wrong, Bedford is a fairly nice place to live, has good and bad parts like most towns. And i think the multi-cultural part of the town is good, everybody gets along most of the time.

It would just be nice if some people could make an effort to learn a bit of English, so that when they go anywhere they can at least make an effort to converse with you....mind you when i go to France, after the basics i end up talking loudly and slowly in English to get my point across! If i did move abroad though i would learn the language as best i could...

I'm sort of abroad - well 25 miles off Lands end - regrettably I am very plastic and can only financially justify going to Wemberleee - so I don't see any victories or goals   :suicide:
