Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 20:34:31 Stop moaning. Such broad threads like that are shit after a while Hence why people posted in them daily. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 20:36:23 But you miss out on the discussions that break off in the smaller threads. Obviously not stuff like this, which is just a bit whimsical, but proper discussion just get lost in amongst the claptrap.
You were one of those moaning about the forum getting quieter weren't you? It was because people were just sticking to those two threads Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 20:36:59 Haha the point has completely escaped arriba.
Maybe I should have called the topic 'Irony' instead? Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 20:37:45 I was joking.

Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 21:01:11 I've been working out ways to save money and have worked out we spend around £400 a month on takeaways in my household.
The kids can go without shoes Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Sippo on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 21:02:00 £400 a month?!! How many people in your family?!

Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Sippo on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 21:06:34 That can't be good for you? Three times a week you must have a takeaway?
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: pericarp on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 21:07:49 I've been working out ways to save money and have worked out we spend around £400 a month on takeaways in my household. The kids can go without shoes 100 quid a week on takeaways. That's a healthy diet. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Saturday, April 21, 2012, 21:16:03 The weekly curry is around £50.my kids get a subway and i'll have a kebab during the week. Then something on a sunday if the mrs aint cooking is easy to tot up the ££££.

Blimey for my family of 4 we don't even spend that much on our weekly food shop, and probably spend less than £40 a month on takeaways. The kids can go without shoes Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Barry Scott on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 15:06:13 OSX can't merge folders when copying and pasting. It deletes the destination and it's contents and replaces it with what you're pasting. Genius of Deacon proportions.
Although in the mind of many a fanboy I've no doubt it's actually better and a good thing. It's cunt, that's what it is. Every OS since the dawn of time, including the Unix that OSX was built around, does it for fucks sake. Same here. Usually one a month so probably £20. £400 ?? Thats 2 weeks food and petrol for us. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Sussex on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:24:58 You need to cut down on those Vindaloo breakfast baps!
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:46:24 I don't go pissing it up much anymore so spend my dosh on on few bets and takeaways at the weekend instead. £400 is the most over a month, probably the average over a year is nearer £300 a month.
I had a chinese on friday which was £20 as the kids were out and yesterdays curry was £35 as my son was at his mates. Bet plenty of you will spend more than that in the pub easily Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Samdy Gray on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:49:24 You've obviously got too much money if you can spunk that much on takeaways.
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: leefer on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:50:04 You've obviously got too much money if you can spunk that much on takeaways. That is worded so wrong. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:53:50 I'm ok for money but by no means wealthy. Don't think spending £100-£150 over a weekend on my leisure is excessive.
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: leefer on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:56:33 I have cut down on the takeaways to be honest....it got to the point where i wasn't looking forward to them...maybe two a month though.
Pop into Marks and Sparks now and again to get some POSH grub......£20 will get you some nice nosh and a decent bottle of Red.. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Gnasher on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 16:58:17 That is worded so wrong. Don't think spending £100-£150 over a weekend on my leisure is excessive. I'm not saying it is. It's your money, you can do what you want with it. I suppose I could spend that much on takeaways if I chose to, but the financial planner part of me could think of much better ways to spend that £400 though. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 17:04:05 i love my curries leefer. Trouble is my kids eat adult sized meals so it costs me more nowadays. I still have 5 home cooked meals a week. Don't think my takeaway spending is ott at all to be honest.
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Reg Smeeton on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 17:04:34 Bet plenty of you will spend more than that in the pub easily I've been in pubs this weekend, and spent about £50 on 2 nights, which I'd consider average. If having to fund a bird with a taste for vino, makes the cost shoot right up....most places charge a ridiculous amount for a large glass of red or white. Often cheaper just to buy a bottle, but some don't think it very ladylike. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: LucienSanchez on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 17:05:30 I imagine a lot of people spend £400+ on beers every month... i know i get close most months (when i'm not on a beer boycott)
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 17:10:30 I imagine a lot of people spend £400+ on beers every month... i know i get close most months (when i'm not on a beer boycott) Exactly. My booze spend is around £10-£15 a week. And the takeaway out goings are for 4 of us. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: tans on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 17:16:32 Can i move into youre place? Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Bewster on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 18:30:24 I'm ok for money but by no means wealthy. Don't think spending £100-£150 over a weekend on my leisure is excessive. When people work out what they spend on things that they enjoy they may well be shocked on how it stacks up. Plus as you say the kids eat adult portions so thats bumping the cost up. The last 5 years we've had a single income due to the twins not being at school so we have had to cut right down. Mrs B started work part time last week and the small incremental income will make a huge difference to us. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Reg Smeeton on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 18:56:26 Sorry reg missed this. My mrs drinks wine and i always get it by the bottle for her when we go out. A lot of the ladies of uncertain age, that are in my immediate social circle, fortunately like to pre load, thus reducing the cost of pub wine drinking....it does piss me off, when you get stung for about £20, for something you can get in the Co-Op for 6 Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: tans on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 19:54:00 You get though them yourself don't ya? Couple times a month. I quite fancy curries and chinese every night. Ideal. But the mrs says i need to eat more healthily ;) Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 19:59:02 Couple times a month. I quite fancy curries and chinese every night. Ideal. But the mrs says i need to eat more healthily ;) Curry is very healthy. As long as you avoid the ones with cream in them. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: tans on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 20:13:48 Fuck the ones with cream in them.
Loaded with green chillies is the way forward. Or a vindy or phal Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 20:19:15 Curry is very healthy. As long as you avoid the ones with cream in them. Or one with red meat. And have plain rice, no bhajis and if going for bread make sure it's a chapatti and it isn't brushed with butter. AKA the world's most boring curry. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 20:26:14 I have opted for vindaloo lately and always have chicken. Never liked the creamy ones. Not a proper curry imo
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Flashheart on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 20:28:25 One can't get a proper (British) curry in Thailand.
Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Batch on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 21:22:14 But can you get a Thai green curry?
Or did the British invent it and then pretend it was from Thailand. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Barry Scott on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 21:27:15 Or one with red meat. And have plain rice, no bhajis and if going for bread make sure it's a chapatti and it isn't brushed with butter. AKA the world's most boring curry. Don't forget pretty much all curry is cooked in copious amounts of ghee which is the most fatty substance ever known to anyone ever. Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Flashheart on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 21:36:56 But can you get a Thai green curry? Or did the British invent it and then pretend it was from Thailand. Thai green curry is legit Thai food. Thai food is great. Problem is that the 'authentic' stuff is full of fat, gristle skin and sinew. The Thai's love that shit, they're quite happy to suck the ligaments off a bone. I have to settle for the westernised stuff that is made using actual meat. Either that or dominoes pizza Title: Re: Vague thread title Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, 13:28:20 I'm ok for money but by no means wealthy. Don't think spending £100-£150 over a weekend on my leisure is excessive. Not having a dig at you spending your money at all, you have earnt it and can obviously spend it however you choose, I just wish I was in your position not to worry financially about it really is all.Me and the missus go out once a month now and never spend more than £50 between us when we do go out, and I don't drink at home any more now I just can't afford it. But thats the difference of being out of work on incapacity and living on about £160 a week for a family of 2 adults and 17 and a 19 year old. In your financial position I would probably spend a similar amount as you on take aways etc. |
