Title: Having a clearout
Post by: 4D on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, 15:16:52
and I need to get rid of all my football programmes.

I have quite a few of Swindon going back to the late 80's, I also have some random teams dating back to the early 70's. Total around 150.

Should I try and sell these, bin them or donate them?

Well. List of priorities.

1. Sell.
2. Donate.
3. Keep.

But I'm guessing no. 1 isn't going to be easy. Donate or keep.

Well I took the initiative and replaced 'bin' with 'keep'.
Wouldn't want it to go to waste.  ;)

Not decided on which offer to take. Have to soon though.

Either straight Maths, or Maths with Econ.

Imperial
LSE
UCL
Warwick

Rejected from Oxford, gutted. All of them are for Mathematics apart from LSE which is Maths with Econ.
I'm undecided between Imperial and LSE I think.

I'm not as thick a cunt as you think  :D
Just got a shit common sense.

Its quite common for really intellectually bright people to often lack common sense.  Clearly Trig is the TEF example of this!

I went to LSE to study Economics and got rejected by Oxford, so you are in fine company young man.

Ohhh invaluable information!

What do you think? I definitely think the course suits me better at Imperial, i.e. just maths. I have no idea about Economics. I don't think I'd hate it, but I've never done it as such and don't know anything about it. The maths course at Imperial seems more intense, and mathematical compared to the LSE course which eliminates mechanics altogether (which is a good thing for me) and focuses more on statistics etc.

Only reason I'm leaning towards LSE is because it's so career-focused and gets a lot of people into finance and work.

I did both GSCE and A Level Economics so found the first year pretty much going over old ground.  Have you not done Economics at any level before?  It would have been a benefit just so you would know what you were getting yourself into.

I had a housemate who did Maths and she always said the reason she loved it at LSE was because she was a stats nerd, hence having none of the Mechanics bollocks suited her down to the ground.

You right about the finance related work side of things.  That gets drummed into you early.  I reckon about 70% of our graduates in my year finished up at of the big accountancy firms.

BTW, I only applied to Oxford so I could turn the cunts down!

I'll sell you a calculator.

Then you don't need to waste 4 years of your life! :)

They probably wouldn't sell for much but I have a decent collection already and wouldn't want to see them go to waste. What exactly have you got? If it's pretty decent i'd probably give up a nomimal fee or a few beers.

My missus is just finishing her degree at Warwick.

Drop me a PM if you have any questions about the Uni (or the area).

I did Maths & Stats at Warwick, though that was a long time ago.
The maths at Warwick is very much pure maths based (tho other options are available) but has an absolutely top reputation.
If you're in to all the theoretical nerdy stuff, have the brain the size of a planet but with minimal common sense then I'm sure you'll find others like you at any of those on your list.
