Was thinking the same, last time i did that though was when i was on work experience.
I can pick up the full set of pads and discs for 100quid. Mr clutch quote about 300 for the whole job.

It's a relatively straightforward job. Getting the calliper carrier bolts off will probably be the hardest bit.

I never did mechanics in my life but after reading up on the net i felt confident enough to change my pads and discs and since then fixed many things on my car including replacing a clutch. My tip is google your car and what you want to do. So for example How to change brake pads and discs on a VW Golf and what you will find is there will be a forum somewhere on the net where people have posted step by step guides.

Also invest in some tools and get some Axle stands as they can be picked up cheap in the motor parts shop and euro car parts sometimes have the deal on pads and discs.

Its worth doing and its worth investing in the tools as then you will save money for years to come.
