I've used a payday loan twice and thought it was a pretty decent idea to be fair, loads of lenders though so dont see much need to these comparison lark.

They are a good idea and a bad idea it really depends on your situation.

The site constantly offers the lowest rates but that a side, support local business man!!

The problems start when people take out payday loans to repay existing payday loans.

With the astronomical APRs they're always a bad idea but unfortunately many people don't see that.

It's providing a brokerage service, so yes.

I don't think it's a brokerage samdy. I think he's just selling the leads so is not directly providing any service or advice.

Even introducers need a CCL.

He'll also need to be registered with the Information Commissioner's Office too.

When you work in an industry where regulators have you jumping through endless hoops, it's quite irksome when someone comes along with a flagrant diregard for the rules with the sole intention of making a quick buck.

Spelling Mistakes have already been bought to the attention of the designer. Thanks for pointing them out again.

Payday Swindon is one site managed by the same company who are reasonably big and yes they are legit.

I think if you click the text loans link at the top they accept benefits so yes it does dole day loans.

Don't hate, appreciate!

If I said "I think you should take a loan" then yes.

I would never advise anyone to take a payday loan, like I already said they are bad in most cases. Only financially responsible people in the right situation could and should benefit from this type of service.

I'm just doing my thing. Read the disclaimer. If you decide to take a loan and it's not good for you it's your own decision no one elses so in theory that man is screwing himself.

Note to all haters --> Go hate on Wonga and leave me alone! soapy tit wank

Payday loans can be very helpfull in some circumstances.
Some people on the dole between jobs and maybe have to work a month in hand it could be very handy.
Sadly the banks are not very helpfull to young people regarding overdrafts etc so a small loan to cover costs to payday can certainly be helpfull.

I used a PDL in December when my new car insurance was loads more than I thought - repaid in Jan, couldnt fault it.

I don't have FTP access to amend the spelling mistakes. They have been on the sites for weeks. After the comments here they have been corrected.

Well done to the TEF Spell Check Elite

I've written content for other payday loan companies in the past and they were all heavily regulated by the FSA.

This one seems to have no regulation whatsoever.

Successful plug...  I'd go for a long walk off a short pier before I'd even consider dealing with those crooks.  How they still manage to advertise on the television is beyond me.  It's conning stupid people, which is unethical.

A lot of them are reputable companies that can be very useful to people. The higher interest rates can be worth it to some people, provided they are made absolutely aware of what is entailed.

The one on this thread, however, I would not consider using and if I was bosey I'd having nothing to do with them. It'll all go Pete Tong eventually and I would like to have no association with them when that happens.

I'm sure a lot of time and effort has been put into that website, but it looks sketchy as fuck. Looks like something a GCSE student has designed, riddled with grammatical errors (How Much do you want to borrow. Seriously? First thing you see.) And, as BR says, nowhere does it say it's a comparison site.

Fair on you for trying Bosey, but a lot of work needs to be done to that

Payday loans can be really helpful and I've used them a few times. You can quite easily borrow around £200 for a week for the cost of £15-£20 which is cheaper than going over my overdraft by a tiny amount for which my bank charges me a £25 fee instantly. In that situation a loan is a no brainer.

Appreciate the constructive feedback. The site has already been re designed it just needs implementing. Grammatical errors should all be gone now?

It's actually a £25 charge for going over my overdraft limit, rather than going into my overdraft so slightly different. HSBC by the way.

Yeah I get that but then if you havent got enough to live on then you'd need to take a serious look at your lifestyle and budgeting wouldnt you. Even more so if you are working full time and still dont have enough to live on

I mean I could maybe understand a one off, if say you had to all your usual bills, then it was the month you renew your car insurance all upfront, then it had an MOT and needed work done and then your boiler went tits up and you were due to pay off your holiday or something!

Shit happens to everyone at some point in their life through no fault of their own.

If a service like this can help over the shortest of term, and you accept that you have to pay for the privilege, then I say what the fuck !

If it means putting food on the table, or to pay the gas bill ....................

A Halifax account charges £1 for authorised overdraft use and £2 for non-authorised. If you go £10 in to the authorised then that's £1 per day, 3,650% APR. Pretty hefty compared to QuickQuid at comparable APR 1,734%, and its those chaps that get a bad name.

Title: Re: Payday Loans
Post by: DMR on Friday, February 3, 2012, 14:52:41
The APR should be irrelevant on these loans os you're not meant to be paying back over a year.

I had a £250 loan, and paid back £312.50 so for just over 60 quid I had my car on the road 2 weeks earlier than if I had to wait till payday.

Title: Re: Payday Loans
Post by: Dozno9 on Friday, February 3, 2012, 14:55:33
My point is that a comparable APR has to be displayed in accordance with advertising laws and the headline APR frightens people off but over a short time the APR is irrelevant as you say.

Just as a matter of interest (ahem !) couldn't you have paid the insurance in instalments ?

Title: Re: Payday Loans
Post by: DMR on Friday, February 3, 2012, 16:43:42
Yes but don't like the surplus I would have paid for the pleasure, and having moved it recently, it was just one more monthly outgoing I could avoid by taking it on the chin at the start.

Title: Re: Payday Loans
Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, February 3, 2012, 16:48:41
Surely the interest charged on monthly instalments would've been less than the £60 in interest you paid on the payday loan?

Not when you've got a d/d conviction and they've got you by the bollocks no - but as I say, that wasn't the more pressing concern, I didnt want another direct debit on top of everything else.
