Absolute shit day. The rear of my car is now smashed in after an idiot drove into the back of me. Tans spent 8 hours in Hospital waiting to be checked over for neck pains. I've completely lost interest in the football.

It was on the A46 Coventry by pass.

Pulled up behind a car in a queue, a girl pulled up behind me and some dickhead (obviously not watching the road) smacks into her causing a pile up.

The other 2 cars looked like complete write offs. Mine is smashed in badly at the rear.

Actually yeah it was there now you mention it. The pre-TGI Fridays part of the journey merged into one. One of the shagged cars looked sort of MR2ish or something like that with the rear end well done in. Anyway I'm glad you are  both sort of OK. Cars can be fixed, people less easily.

Just saw the highlights. Ciobocci was closer to his man than I remember for the first goal. Koncheski should have been sent given other recent refereeing decisions, shame about Ritchies chance but he was stretching, can't really complain about the result. Fairly good highlights from ITV for us. Can't believe they put Crawley on about 4th though, even if it is slightly amusing.

The Mazda MX5 is the car that went into the back of me. It's the knob in the Fiat Punto behind her that caused it.

That must have happened seconds before we went past, guy in the BMW at fault? The mazda looked totalled.

I'm sure it will, and very soon as well. Even the most minor of prangs (which this clearly wasn't) is a horrible feeling. The only consolation you can give yourself is that no one was more seriously hurt.

Was the accident a case of a car cutting into a lane quickly then the driver behind hitting the car which cut in?
See this all the time and it happens to me regularly in my truck where cars cut in at the last second then slam on the brakes. I'm yet to hit one up the arse though luckily.
These cases seem to end up with the car hitting the rear getting blamed regardless of the twats who cut infront then brake hard straight away.

Could be the one who pranged was just not looking infront of them mind,which is also common.

Ralphy. Rule no.1 = if you get shunted in the back then it's an automatic whiplash claim. No-one is particularly bothered. Not the A&E department, not your doctor, not your solicitor, not your insurance company. It's pretty much par for the course these days, unfortunately. Whiplash sometimes doesn't manifest itself until up to 3 days after the event so you still have time to go to your local A&E to report it, yet try and be a little street-wise. It's worth between £4-£5k. You maybe pay a high insurance premium so try and claw some of it back. Of course, you and Tans may have to wear a neck brace/surgical collar in public, yet what you do privately is between yourselves.

I'm with sippo on this....if there is a genuine loss of earnings, then of course you should be compensated...but if its a little bit of opportunism, then no...

As for rises in car ins premuim, I suspect that is down to ALL of the following

 - increase in crashes involing uninsured vehicles
 - increase in number of claimiant payouts
 - number of stolen cars...

If anyone is genuinely injured in an accident, and they miss work because of it then there is no issue with them claiming.

The problem is those people who make a claim when it is unwarranted.

A few years ago I was hit by someone who didn't know the difference between Red & Green, and my insurance company put me in contact with a claims recovery agency.

It quickly became obvious that all they were interested in was making a compensation claim against the other drivers insurance company, Despite me confirming on several occasions that we were all ok.
They were fuck all use in trying to help me get the money back that we had paid in car hire & repair costs.

I think people should be allowed to claim for injuries that were not their fault but I dont agree with the size of most of these claims, cover the cost of any loss of earnings is enough IMO for pretty much all of these except the more serious ones.

It should not be a first reaction of people to think "get a fucking claim in ASAP" thats just wrong IMO.

flasheart, dont be a dick....of course everyone has sympathy with Ralhpy and Tans re the accident...ok, so they might be in pain for a week and there is the hasssle of sorting out car repairs etc...but I just think its depressing that the subject has turned to compensation within 48 hrs.

1. Either of you are more than welcome to phone me at work for free advice regarding your claim be it for PI or about the damaged car. Get my number off Ash.
2. Insurance cost keep going up becuase insurance companies are cunts. I sue them daily due to the fact they just never reply to simple claims. I would much rather not sue them as its more work for me but when they don't reply to letters in 3 months and have phone holdings time of 30mins plus what the choice?

My claim took nearly 4 years to settle but things take ages to heal properly (or not). A little crack in a cervical vertebrae can cause all sorts of pain elsewhere and take 18 months to clear.
You should be entitled to loss of earnings, medical expenses, travel expenses, compensation for pain,damage and loss of facilities.
Tans would not be suffering if the stupid cunt had not been negligent in his actions - there is a duty upon us all to behave to a standard and compensation is available to help to overcome any problems physical or mental.
