Basically we have 3 VoIP phones and 4 standard phones. I want to be able to Dial From my PC? Do I need to use the voip phone, usual phone or either? What software do I need? Are you asking how to use the API to write a program tobdial the VoIP phones from your PC? Or are you asking what software is already available to do this? But yea, in essence I have 2 types of phone (VoIP and standard) and I want to wire either of them (easiest one) to my PC so that I can dial and answer Via my PC (The phones have lifters and headsets) Title: Re: TAPI Software / Hardware Post by: Batch on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, 15:22:36 TAPI is an API :) Not sure I'm much use as I've never used anything TAPI compliant.
In general: I guess you have checked the phones are TAPI compliant and to which version, hence the question. Are the voip phones standalone phones or are they USB phones? I'm asking because you may need to install driver onto your PC, or not. Once that's done I guess you need to wait for someone who has used such things to assist. Or google reviews, there does seems some free software out there: http://www.voipfone.co.uk/TAPI.php So is it just voice calls you need to make via a headset then? And where to, within the house, or normal POTS or where? The phones are TAPI enabled.

Its one of those things I'd need to have in front of me to play with. Maybe one for the experts as you say.
If connecting via USB I think you'll need to find your make/model of phone and get the right TAPI drivers for it. Once that is done you maybe able to use standard windows "dialer.exe" to make calls. I'm still not sure what you are trying to do though :) If its hone other peoples normal POTS phone you'll need some kind of breakout (like Sipgate mentioned above). |
