Title: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Gnasher on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 20:42:59 My missus has given me the choice of going to either the Leicester or Southend game (not both). Before today's results it was going to be Leicester, but Southend is surely the most important game of the season so far (I wonder if PDC will rest players for the Leicester game in favour of the Southend game?)
So boys and girls, given the choice would you choose a big FA cup game or the biggest league game of the season? Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 20:45:43 Both are potentially important games, but given the choice of winning one over the other I'd choose Southend, so that's what I'd go to.
Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 20:47:39 Southend will be the biggest league game of the season, until we play Crawley, Cheltenham & possibly the scummers.
That said, I'd rather have 3 points from Southend than an FA Cup win over Leicester Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 20:48:22 I don't think he's resting anyone as hes got the Sponsors Evening, which was due to take place nextn Thursday postponed, as he wants the players concentrated on the Leicester game.
But I would still take the Southend game as the more important. Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: stfcinbmth on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 20:49:28 Neither, I've pencilled in Burton as my next one. Did check the train prices for Lester, £52 return, cheaper than a tank of fuel each way, but can't justify it at the mo, so hope a few more channels pick it up
Lester have got Saints Monday night, will be a good match to keep an eye on Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: suttonred on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 20:52:49 Southend is the main one. Not sure if I'll go to both, one, or neither yet.
Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Gnasher on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 21:00:04 I'm still waiting for Chalkies Shorts to tell me to man up, punch my missus on the nose and go to both!
Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: gingernuggets on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 21:01:47 Southend is going to be good - we got a cracking atmosphere going there for the JPT game so hopefully the league game will be even better.
Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Abrahammer on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 21:06:56 Was planning to go to Leicester but then ditched that plan when the date of the Southend game was announced.
Promotion is the only thing that matters this season, so while a Leicester win would generate a greater reaction, a Southend one would be far more important and it isn't even close. Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: leefer on Saturday, January 21, 2012, 21:08:26 Southend will be the biggest league game of the season, until we play Crawley, Cheltenham & possibly the scummers. Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Batch on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 09:24:35 Would prefer Southend but can't make that so Leicester it is.
Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Ardiles on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 09:34:08 Absolutely. League first, everything else second. Anyone old enough to have been around in 1995 will remember that making the semi-final of the League Cup hardly made up for the bitter disappointment of relegation to the third tier that year. The Cups are fun...but that's it. I'd enjoy them more if we knew that promotion was wrapped up. (And it's not.)

Southend for me :) Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Batch on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 11:58:05 A win at Southend to go top would be awesome. We'd need to beat them by 2 goals wouldn't we? Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: axs on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 12:02:57 We'd need to beat them by 2 goals wouldn't we? Yes, 1 would see us level on difference but they have scored more. We do indeed, even though the goal difference would be the same with a 1-0 win the goals scored is by far in Southends favour. Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Batch on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 12:11:41 I'd settle for a scrappy 1-0 and still being behind on goals scored :)
In fact I'd settle for a draw. Title: Re: Southend or Leicester? Post by: Barry Scott on Sunday, January 22, 2012, 12:11:43 I dreamt we beat Leicester 2-0 last night. I've been to Southend before and don't want to inflict that on my soul again, so I'm now thinking about going to Leicester.

If they play to the best of their ability they will win. However, 4th in Div 4 is about a division lower that where we should be (historically), so we're not punching above our weight. I looked at staggering the journey earlier and it seemed cheaper.
