Warnock is the classic example of a manager who keeps taking teams up but not keeping them up though. Should have sacked him the moment promotion was confirmed if they fancied being completely ruthless.

Also, no Warnock thread is complete without the mention of Colin Wanker, so I'll get that in early.

I think he's a cunt. Remember Notts Co coming down midweek a lot of years ago and stank rthe place out ( but won ) and the CG givinh him loads. He said at the time it was the worst he ever got. I'm sure he's had a lot worse since and bloody well deserved. Him and Barton were made for each other.

Not a massive surprise. QPR have a shed load of money and no doubt want a manager the would be perceived as taking them forward and attracting good players.

Harsh on him as he's done a good job.

Not sure Mark Hughes is the man to fit the bill though.

Mark Hughes would be a pretty uninspiring appointment. I wouldn't be too happy if I was a QPR fan.

I like Warnock, I hope QPR get relegated, ungrateful bastards, don't like them and hate Joey Barton with a passion.

He is a great Championship manager, will get someone promoted again to the Premier League, i'm sure.

I don't think Di canio would go even if they did want him. The man has a job to do here and is a man of honour who wears his heart on his sleeve. He has been given a chance here and he knows that.

The new owner at QPR is a West Ham fan. He tried to buy them twice in recent years.

He might want PdC as manager, but I don't think Paolo will be interested as he'll think it's too early for him. He wants to manage in the lower leagues first to learn his trade. One think I do know that there is a large compensation fee in PdC's contract, which Wray put in, in case there was an approach from another club.

Zero chance that any club will take a risk on PdC currently, well not one vying for their lives in the Premier League anyway.

plus Paolo has got a unique opportunity here to completely rebuild a club from the bottom and make us something great, if he went to QPR now, or anywhere else, he'd be left with all their players who might not buy into his ethos. I think he'll be here for a good few years.

You don't think he'd be interested? In a London based Premier League team? With money to spend?

You sir are an idiot.

Now, I may be naive but I belive that PdC has an affiliation with us over and above his contract size. Looking at the way he talks and treats his players he'd be pretty two faced to turn his back after 6 months in charge and I don't believe he's that kind of man.

He comes across as loyal. If he did leave he would go from hero to zero and it would surprise me. He does appear different to the norm in that he is focussed on doing a job here and seeing it through.
The emotion of the man and the work he puts in tells me alot about the guy. His commitment i think is the biggest of his qualities

If he's still here in 2 years having taking us up then you make a valid point.

How anyone can praise someones loyalty after 20 odd games is frankly astonishing. What's he proved? It's just words that you hear from any new manager.

Paolo, it's Paolo is more than a big fish in a small pond. He is in fact a sperm whale in coate water, except that Coate Water is a fresh water lake, however, mere details you know what I mean.

Why tarnish your fledgling and growing reputation by taking on a job in a club that will as likely as not be relegated and owned by a megalomaniac? He'll keep his powder dry and either take us all the way to at least the Championship building an empire around him where to be fair in that instance he'll be a demi god or he'll leave and get a top premier job when the timing's right and it won't be in the next few years the mans a great strategist and thinker.

He could if he has the patience and the board the balls & money be a premiership manager with us in the fullness of time and in that capacity he would be to us what Sir Alex is to Man utd.

I would never write off any manager ditching us at the first opportunity, especially to the top flight.

Do I think PDC is ready for Premier League management? Of course not.

Do I think PDC would be interested if a team like QPR made an approach? Definitely.

We're a nice starting point for PDC. At Swindon he can make mistakes and won't be in the spotlight all the time (at the the moment the media come and then go quite quickly).

Title: Re: Warnock sacked tonite

Even after this weekends cracking win I think a lot of people in the game still see Paolo as a bit of a novelty appointment and good headline maker, which suits us.

Can't see him being poached just yet but give it a few months and it will be a different kettle of fish.

I'm not praising his loyalty after 20 games though, I am referencing his potential to be loyal.

I think he would be loyal (whatever that means in football terms) if QPR came in for him now (which they won't) because of his attitude and what he says. Although all we can go on is what people say isn't it until they prove otherwise.

Amazing really isn't it. We had the same nonsense with Poyet.

I'm not suprised Warnock got the chop, he was going to lead them valiantly to relegation on the last day. And then spend a few years bleating on about ineligible players or something.

Paolo being linked to vacant managers jobs is something we will have to get used to if we continue to make headlines. The day will come when he moves on but it certainly won't be yet. I like Warnock and think he is a good manager who wont be out of a job for long.

You sir are an idiot.

I personally think your comments are out of order DRS

PDC has done nothing in his career to suggest he throws in the towel or moves on at the first opportunity

Since he has been here he has done nothing to suggest he will move on - in fact quite the opposite he has said Swindon are now family and part of his heart

Yesterday (albeit in the heat of the moment) he clearly said it was the best day in his football career

To suggest as you are that he would easily move on shows you have learned nothing about the character of the man (only my opinion of course....)

For what it is worth I think that PDC is a different breed to a lot of managers.  Yes we can't possibly judge his loyalty after twenty games but as others have said he preaches about loyalty, commitment and hard work and it would be a completely against these princples for him to go. I also think he would want to do his very best at a bigger club and to do that he has to learn.

Personally I believe we'll see a bit of a Macari repeat, a manager who will give it his best shot up to the point that he cannot do anymore - either restricted by size, money or lack of ambition.

At which point he will go to West Ham.

Title: Re: Warnock sacked tonite

I think he definately has more loyalty than the average manager but if West Ham come in for him during the summer, quite possible if they dont go up, he will be off like a shot.

I wouldnt blame him either.
