I met him in 1990ish at the schools proms at the Albert Hall, he had loads of time for the kids, and he actually seemed to enjoy it when 5000 people all shouted "Can I have a P please Bob" at him.

Well known but made up FACT! about Bob Holness....he played saxophone on Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street....no he didn't.
