Title: Help please - easy online vote + save a life
Post by: iffy on Monday, November 28, 2011, 11:32:03
Bit of a begging post this one, but if you lot could help out that would be really good.

I do some stuff with a charity called Anthony Nolan (http://www.anthonynolan.org/) who provide bone marrow transplants for people with leukaemia. They are up for being the Football League Charity of the Year next year.

The main reason that you should vote for them is that the best type of people to be donors for stem cell transplants are men aged 18-30, so football is absolutely the best way to reach them. It would be incredible if they could get it.

So if you click here and vote, that would be brilliant - you don't need to register an email:

Charlie Brooker did a video on Anthony Nolan if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTkoWxWIv4c

Done.

Of course you should register as a donor with Anthony Nolan as well.

Brilliant.

Of course, you should do that too! I felt I could only ask for one thing at a time.

Don't worry people, there's no needles or anything. You just have to spit in a tube.

Done.  Ive got a nephew who is hopefully now recovering from leukaemia so this gets my vote.  Mind you leukaemia and lymphoma trust are on there as well.  All good causes.

Cheers all.

They are all worthwhile cases, but the case for Anthony Nolan is that they will make more of the connection to football, because they need to reach young guys for the register. That's hard to do and football is the best way to do it. The others could make better use of other opportunities with other partners.

So I would perhaps also make the case for St John Ambulance getting the League charity because they are so committed to football, too.

But no-one should ever judge anyone's choices about who or what charities they support.

Bullethead -  I checked and 42 is too old to go on the register. It's basically too old for anything. ;)

Why didn't you just not vote at all?

The end result would've been exactly the same.
