Title: A sign of Respect for Paolo on Tuesday Night
Post by: phelpsieboy on Monday, October 24, 2011, 08:44:46
Just wondered if it would be a good idea to do something on tuedays game to show Paolo that our thoughts are with him and that we do care about him

Any thoughts?
Maybe a chorus of Ignazio Di Canio (which from what Ive read is his dads name) to the same tune of Paolo Di Canio

Not 100% sure, but think they mentioned a minute's silence on the radio after the game.

What a great idea...It must be tough on him being away from his family at this time so some kind of appreciation would be good..

I didn't hear that.

I remember hearing them say about wearing Black Arm bands, hopefully a minutes silence will happen though

Personally, no.

I think that if Paolo didn't want to cause a fanfare about it and had the grace to just get on with his work without (public) mention of his fathers death, then we should show him the same respect.

agreed.  a few paolo chants during the game wouldn't go amiss though.

Agree, it's clear Paolo wanted to keep the news private.

I think he would appreciate vocal support of the team more than anything else.

Spot on. If there's a silence or something then great - if not, just get behind the lads and get behind Paolo for the full 90 minutes.

Something that should happen every week anyway!

Im with Samdy on this.

Im with Samdy on this.

In total agreement I'm sure that PDC would appreciate the crowd getting behind the team for 90 mins (unlike about 20 mins usually)

How lucky we are to have a Manager so passionate in what he does and believes in.

In Paolo we Trust - I believe if given the time and support will turn this Club around.
He has brought that passion and excitement back into watching Swindon again.

Lets show him some respect and support tomorrow night.

2-0 Swindon.

Surely a minute's applause rather than a minute's silence if it's in appreciation??

Speaking of tomorrow night - I know the ticket deal for tomorrow and Saturday only runs til 2pm - but does this include the friend for a tenner as well? Can't see anything specifying.

Not meaning to be insensitive and maybe I'm being thick, but why would they wear black arm bands or hold a minutes silence for the manager's father who has had nothing to do with the club? Have I missed something?

Exactly. We aren't Liverpool

A minutes silence is just a mark of respect. We've had various minutes silences for natural disasters and stuff over the years. While obviously tragic these have less to do with the club than Paolo's old man Johnny.

If they do decide on a minutes silence then i'm sure it will be well observed, at the same time I expect Paolo will be content with wearing a black armband which I believe he did Saturday.

Last I checked the manager was linked to both the club and his father.

I'm with jonny, if the likes of Iris dont warrant a minutes silence then I dont think the managers Dad does either.

Pretty sure Iris got a minutes applause?

Going by personal experience (and the fact that it was kept totally under wraps until Saturday) I'm guessing that a minute's silence or applause is the last thing Di Canio would want. I think he would want everything and everybody to be completely normal and to carry on as usual. He's lost his dad, it's a private matter. End of.

Agreed OST . Why do people want to get involved in such a private occasion ?

I don't. I can just see why the club may feel it appropriate if only to show solidarity and respect.

I doubt they'll go down that route as i suspect Paolo wouldn't want it though.
