Title: Billy Paynter Post by: MaxSpringer23 on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:26:17 Does anyone think we could get him back here on loan? Seeing as Leeds never play him and their fans hate him
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Coca Fola on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:34:57 Not a chance.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: TheMajorSTFC on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:36:36 I heard Bradford were interested in him. Can't see him dropping to L2 level though!
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: MaxSpringer23 on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:38:07 looked around and apparently Brighton were gonna try for him.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: phelpsieboy on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:41:48 He is set to leave Leeds and join a team in league 1 or 2 on loan. Cant see him dropping down to league two, as he thinks he is better than he really is and will be living off of his 09/10 stats. I imagine most of league one will chase him if they are aware of his availablility.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: leefer on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:43:13 Hudds or the Sheffield clubs most probably.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: MaxSpringer23 on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:46:48 Don't think Huddersfield would take him, they're strikeforce is good enough. However with Wilson at United they'll be most likely to snatch him.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:50:03 I wouldnt want him back.
Move on. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Only Me on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 19:59:12 Ha ha, Payner wouldn't be able to cope with PDC's fitness regime. Apart from that, he isn't better that what we have up front at the moment.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 20:30:17 Apart from that, he isn't better that what we have up front at the moment. ???Of course he is. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 20:34:29 ??? AgreedOf course he is. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Sippo on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 21:05:41 Some fucking goon yesterday was moaning/suggesting we should get Cox back...
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Hexagon on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 21:14:18 Some fucking goon yesterday was moaning/suggesting we should get Cox back... Behind the goal at the back? Some proper drivel coming from that area yesterday. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: phelpsieboy on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 21:20:26 Some guy was saying we should try and get Jutkiewicz on loan.... some people just dont have a clue. Middlebrough or Swindon on loan?? You choose
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Coca Fola on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 21:31:13 I wouldnt want him back. Yes you would.Move on. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Boeta on Monday, September 19, 2011, 08:44:10 brighton tried to sign him for 150k on the last day of the window, so what do you reckon
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: juddie on Monday, September 19, 2011, 08:57:32 Apart from that, he isn't better that what we have up front at the moment. good gag. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, September 19, 2011, 18:33:42 Yes you would. Nah, just dont want to watch him anymore. He played a lot of games for us, and there are things that just get on your tits about certain players. We got the best form of his career out of him for 4 months at the end, but what about the rest of it? Even then, it was all about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Just another mercenary who only gives his best when it suits him. Wouldnt get on with Paolo at all. Once again, no thanks. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: DiV on Monday, September 19, 2011, 18:42:15 We got the best form of his career out of him for 4 months at the end, but what about the rest of it? In Simon Cox shadow but the second name on the team sheet every week. Vitally important to us and would walk into our current side. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, September 19, 2011, 18:48:45 I know you love him.
He was always in someone elses shadow because he wasnt good enough to have enough impact on his own. Put him up front with Ben Hutchinson, and guess what, it was utter shite. Not an important player. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Batch on Monday, September 19, 2011, 18:57:20 I know you love him. He was always in someone elses shadow because he wasnt good enough to have enough impact on his own. Put him up front with Ben Hutchinson, and guess what, it was utter shite. Not an important player. He was a key player in his 3/4 of a good season. Not shit but not brilliant for most of the rest of the time. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Only Me on Monday, September 19, 2011, 19:19:57 He was a key player in his 3/4 of a good season. Not shit but not brilliant for most of the rest of the time. He was a player who scored 4 (or 5 goals one game) then within 2 weeks, he came out with "I am not confident".Utter bollocks. We saw the very best of him in 1 season. No thanks, let's look somewhere else. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, September 19, 2011, 19:24:28 His time here was not a happy one which is part of the reason he cleared off at the earliest opportunity

Put him up front with Ben Hutchinson, and guess what, it was utter shite. Not an important player. I know you hate him. No shame in being in the shadow of Simon Cox - many strikers past and present were/are. Cox was the best striker we've had since Fjortoft. Anyone would struggle upfront with Ben Hutchinson. Clearly an important player at the time. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Abrahammer on Monday, September 19, 2011, 19:31:51 Simply incredible that some people wouldn't want to have him back. Each to there own I suppose.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, September 19, 2011, 19:37:08 His time here was not a happy one which is part of the reason he cleared off at the earliest opportunity Too far south?Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Benzel on Monday, September 19, 2011, 19:53:13 Too far south? Everyone treating him like a cunt I would guess. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, September 19, 2011, 20:00:54 His time here was not a happy one which is part of the reason he cleared off at the earliest opportunity So he went to Leeds, where they really really hate him? Anything specific from his time at Swindon? Honestly dont hate him myself. Just theres no way Id want to watch him play for another season. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: leefer on Monday, September 19, 2011, 20:08:53 Simply incredible that some people wouldn't want to have him back. Each to there own I suppose. Good player for us giving 100% every match, only soured for me by the public knowledge of his move to Leeds during the playoffs/final.....it probably cost us promotion because he was dire in the final and the Paynter v Leeds home/away would have probably given us the edge v Millwall. Would like him back...but he is to good for LGE 2. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, September 19, 2011, 20:34:43 So he went to Leeds, where they really really hate him? Anything specific from his time at Swindon? Honestly dont hate him myself. Just theres no way Id want to watch him play for another season. I think he's the sort of player which isn't universally liked anywhere for whatever reason. Championship level is too high for him though. Fans never really took to him, only got a contract offer when he'd had a brilliant season and wasn't valued until then. But the past is the past, he wouldn't be any good second time round I don't think. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: leefer on Monday, September 19, 2011, 20:37:05 Because most managers have used him as the workhorse for the more natural scorers, hence he works his balls off but one season apart dosn't score enough.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: wiggy on Monday, September 19, 2011, 20:43:06 Kerrouche and Connell both have high work rates and start defending high up the pitch, which is what BP used to do for us. Just because neither Kerrouche or Connel scored in the last match it is hardly a goalscoring crisis.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: phelpsieboy on Monday, September 19, 2011, 20:47:51 To be honest, am happy with our current strikeforce. Czech internation target man ? Check, High scoring Conference striker with high work rate and good feet ? Check, Algerian menace with pace, high work rate and a mean shot ? Check. Alot of league two teams would love to have our strike force.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Bathtime on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, 09:48:03 Back in the day Paynter was our man. We have moved on and so has he.....hows Austin getting on perhaps we could get the pair of them back...!!! along with Douglas....moving on I think
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Saxondale on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, 10:03:12 I was surprised to see austin has scored 5 this season. Not doing too badly really.
Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: THE FLASH on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, 14:12:23 Had the opportunity of a big pay day and took it.
Reality then bites and it back to the real world. Good divvy 1/2 striker as a foil. Title: Re: Billy Paynter Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, 17:01:43 I was surprised to see austin has scored 5 this season. Not doing too badly really. He's scored some really good goals. Always had the scorers instinct, just a question of whether other things get in the way.
