With Abdulla competing with Ferry, Smith and McCormack for the central midfield berth I'm struggling to see where and how he will fit in...

The central midfield pairing is still up for grabs. I think the only players guaranteed a start at the moment are Caddis, Flint and Ritchie. Kennedy also but that is down to no cover in that position.

Risser? Hes fit for tommorow.

Didn't mention Risser as I understood he was still ruled out with groin injury.

Centre mid is hardly where we need strengthening through loans though...

We have two gazillion strikers, one gazzilion central midfielders and 5 fit defenders

I suspect he may replace Ferry as he is a ball playing midfielder who likes to pass it about like Ferry and them in the centre together will probably not work

Thought this lad was a bit of an unsung hero today. Good ball winning defensive midfielder, and had some good vision/distribution at times too.

Seemed to fit in right away which is rare. Long may it continue...  :beers:

Yep you'd never think that he's never played a first team game before. Very promising cameo. Wasn't afraid to tell more senior players what to do either.

Yep,came on and straight away we conceded,not brilliant but kept it simple,could be a solid signing.

Totally agree, when it needed a simple ball he did it, didn't try to make a 50 yard pass when a 10 yard one would do!  A bit lightweight, but at 18 looks to have a good future.

Liked the way Ferry came on at the end also who he was relaced by....nice to see him coming on and looking pleased that we grabbed the win,rather than bemoaning the fact that he had been replaced,

Looked like Risser is going for this title.  He came onto the pitch after the game fully suited and booted hugging all the players and picking them up.  I like his attitude, he is now fit again (I think) doesn't even make the bench but yet his reaction to today's result shows a great attitude.  If he could now turn this into performances on the pitch we would have quite a player on our hands.

He is like our new Peacock. Top pro, top guy.

Thought Rissers attitude was spot on today.

To be honest I've not been impressed with him on the pitch.  But as Notts Red says his attitude is spot on.  I've not written him off yet and hope he will adjust to L2 football and prove to be an asset to the team on the pitch as well as off of it.

How anyone can judge a player after four matches for the club is puzzling :hmmm:

I've rated Connell every time I've seen him.  Looks sharp and always puts the effort in.  Of all the strikers we have looks the most likely to score.  I'm not judging Risser at all and I hope he does well as his attitude is spot on.  My concern is than in all the games I have seen him play he has gone missing, given the ball away and not done a lot other than the screamer he scored against Crewe.

He was physically bigger than I was expecting. Good debut. Didnt look out of place at all.

For an attacking midfielder/playmaker he did a lot of dirty work yesterday. I was impressed with his workrate as well.

Same as me,much stronger than i expected.

Though he did very well yesterday and it looks like he's smart enough to make the effort to fit in with his teammates and the fans.

I think the attitude of quite a few players in the squad has been top notch. Connell got subbed after about half an hour against Saints and his attitude was spot on, didn't throw a wobbly or even let his confidence drop, just took his chance the next time it came.

We don't really need him, good luck to the lad. He seems to be fairly articulate for a footballer.

We didn't need him from the start. No doubt once he is back from injury he will go back out on loan and do really well.

Our loan signings that don't really make an impact here always seem to do well at other teams in our league when they go back out on loan.

I wonder what the "other disagreements" were...?

I would imagine we didn't want to pay his wages while he was injured.

Also, I suppose it's good that when he was fit he didn't get much of a run due our permanent players keeping him out.

Nice fella, and had it not been for injuries might have been a fixture in the side.  The squad is too big so no harm in jettisoning a few players, but sad to see him go as his tweets were quite funny, and he's still the only STFC player to reply to any of my tweets... #touched

I always forget about Carrick for some reason, yet am always quick to remember every Shayne Bradley/Kyle Lightbourne/Richard Dryden.

I think Milner is my favourite loanee, and for some reason (stupidity/age) i quite liked David Thompson from Liverpool.

David Thompson was very good for us yet seemed to coincide with our slide down the table from what I remember...

He wasn't as good as the thought he was.  He didn't work hard enough.  Milner, on the other hand, superb for us.

Best loanee we ever had was the late Jimmy Davis. I seem to remember him picking up the ball on the halfway line & going all the way to score a goal once (not sure if it actually happened mind). I'm certain he would have been better for england than wayne rooney ever was or will be

Sorry but I can't agree with that, yes Jimmy was a good player but sometimes we let our emotions rule our memory, he suddenly became a better player after his death than he actually was before it.

Thats not being disrespectful to his memory but he was just a good loanee, Thompson was at least as good in his spell with us, Carrick also pretty good, as was Reddy.

But none of those could compare with Nicky Coleman, James Milner, Tim Flowers or Shay Given and for that matter even Chris Ramsey (initially a loan).

I agree with you. Jimmy was a good player, but I don't think he was as good as the legend. Danny Ward was also of a very high calibre and is up there with Milner in my opinion.

Even though he only played a couple of games will always have a soft spot for Tony Grant as far as loanees go.

Tom Heaton was one of my favourite loanees.

That game against Port Vale when he ran underneath the bounce of the ball sticks firmly in my memory.

We got Tanner on loan from Liverpool, and he was one of the worst defenders I have ever seen.

Yes Nicky Tanner was very very crap!

Did he go onto do anything?  From seeing him play for Town a few times he looked very promising.

A few games for Man City and a few years at Burnley I think.

Coleman was quality and i remember Millwall wouldn't let him be sold to us....he went back and never really went on to better things.
