Results night out last year was shite.
As shite as a normal Swindon night out but too busy rather than too quiet.

Just got my results.
Grade lower than I needed for uni, however they're still deciding on me and can't tell me if i'm in or not till "next week ish"

Bastards.

I was in this situation, albeit in 1992! Anyway, my first choice originally rejected me as I didn't quite make grade. I did get second choice (Reading).

However I knew my first choice let somebody in who had a lower grade average than me. Solely because he impressed the admission tutor at interview. I also noticed there were places available through clearing.

So I rang up and asked why (given the above circumstances) that they'd rather have someone in through clearing (which would be a second choice for them) than someone who wanted to go as a first choice (me).

And it worked. I got a transfer from Reading->Swansea.

I guess times may have changed now competition is much higher for the places. But it ain't over until its over.

Hold hope. My sister needed CCD, got a DDD and still got in. I know a LOT of people in my uni intake who got in despite not quite getting the required grades. generally, as long as you weren't too far away in terms of marks you'll get in

Christ if your sister is that thick is Uni really the way forward?

I think it's a uni in the loosest sense of the word.

Been on the phone all morning trying to get through.

Been told that my place is in clearing. If someone takes it i'm fucked.
IF no one takes it then i'm in.

Long old wait till next thursday to find out...

Opened my results live on the radio 6 years ago and celebrated getting into Sussex.

Four hours later, I received a phonecall, and slowly it dawned on me that in fact I hadn't got into my first choice.  I got the sufficient grades, but a U in my final English module had dragged my grade down, and as that was the subject I wanted to study, Sussex wanted my higher grade in English.

Roll on second choice.  Brunel University, a uni I'd chosen following a phonecall to see if they had student parking.  The year I joined, they decided to remove this priveledge, and then I lost my licence a year later anyway.

Still, enjoyed my time there and things turned out OK in the end!   :D

Partly that, and my total cynicism about the education system in general.

I had a place accepted at Uni, got better than the required A-levels but didn't bother going.

Screw the system!

With tuition fees on the rise, that may become the normal. You are an early adopting conformist.

My a-levels were alright... but i'd got a trainee job so wasn't really that bothered. Got me into uni 8 years later when it is ruddy expensive and pretty much a waste of time going to uni. I make some excellent decisions, me.

This is all a few years ago now, but didn't get my first choice at the first attempt, but got two papers remarked (£60 each) and got the grades I needed then.

They both came back marked up by 20%, so what the fuck happened the first time I don't know- they refunded the money as it was so wildly out.

Not working within my chosen field but still active through an academic association I am a member of.

My son needed ABB and got BBB. Didn't get into first choice but got into insurance choice. Take what you can now Sugg, as next week may be too late.

Well done CF - that's a cracking set of results (and the same I got a full 9 years ago - I'm old).

Incidentally, the girl I was with when we both went to uni went to UCL.  In three months she went from being a lovely woman to being a complete cow.  Not relevant, just thought I would mention it.

Needed CCC but got in with BCD, probably on the basis of two AS levels I also hold. The D was two marks off a C and being sent off for a remark so!

My Sixth Form got its best ever results. 66% of all results were A*-B!

Questions are so much easier these days. Don't get cocky son!

We expect to see some late night student twatage, going on from September.   A TEF tradition that has gone into hibernation of late...woken by the odd token story from Bogus Dave.

I recall provoking your fury for smashing my toilet off the wall as a fresher, which was extremely harsh.

Someone has to provide a discliplined role model around here....you might have gone completely off the rails without my fury  :)

I can vaguely remember being a student - I am so old I went to a Polytechnic!
