I'm posting this (as I have also done on Facebook and Twitter) because we appear to have snails and frogs legs in the work canteen today and I am appalled!  I don't get how anyone can eat either and feel sick  :-X

Anyone else get anything weird and wonderful in the work canteen they want to share?!

Not had frogs legs, but snails are well tasty!

You're lucky you've got a canteen, I have to make do with a shitty pre-packed sandwich.

I would happily swap your sandwich with the above any day of the week!

Garlicky snails are nice....Not sure I'd count them as a meal. Bit odd for a staff canteen though.

All we have is an M&S van that comes round, so no weird and wonderful things here.

Not too adventurous myself. Tried horse, kangaroo, ostrich, and the like. That was enough.

Guess that must be in honour of Bastille day today, although you'd have thought a Baguette or a croissant would have done the job!

No staff canteen here so its a daily struggle between the healthy option of the supermarket or an assortment of fast food places. The latter usually wins out unfortunately, if the increasing size of my waistband is anything to go by.

snails are nice

Worked in France for a while.   Calves(or it might have been sheep, I didn't go into many details) brains were a regular item on the canteen menu.

  Have to confess, to never having eaten snails....similarly, never eaten whelks or winkles, although will quite happily eat cockles and mussels.  So it can't be a mollusc aversion....think it's more a case of just never having any put in front of me to try.

 My Bulgarian lady friend, informs me that snails are also quite a popular food in the Balkans and that they now export them to France and Spain.

Snails are lovely even if it does feel like you're swallowing a load of snot! Whack it with a bit of lemon juice and hey presto!

Big fan of all seafood etc. Strange to have it at work though! Do you think they've picked them up off the street?

I like oysters....used to be poor mans food in Britain, and easily available in France, but now a luxury food here.

Recall going to the end of season bash at the Old Bank about 3 years ago, where they had langoustine available at the buffet....few cunts from the TEF there, who didn't like the look of them  :).   

Snails only taste of what they are cooked in and frogs legs really are like a fishy chicken wing, nothing special at all but not awful.

I work in a school.  The shit the canteen serves up is beyond belief.  Snails would be an improvement.  At least you know whats in snails.

My canteen at work serves up some pretty nice food, and they have a good selection of sarnies and wraps. Although the other day they had a bunch of Turkey and Onion baguettes... wtf is that about???  Turkey and Onion? And it was just that, big lumps of dry turkey and bigger lumps of even drier onion...

Where I work we don't have a canteen.  Or a kitchen.  We have a microwave on a table in the office and we do washing up in the gents.

Our canteen is run by primarily French speaking people. The daily online menu is literally translated word for word into English which doesn't always work.

I can't think of anything off hand but yesterday's vegetarian offer was 'vegetarian brick' - which was actually a spring roll.
