Title: Brighton sell all 18,400 season tickets
Post by: hobodan on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 18:17:32
I see Brighton have sold all of their 18,400 season tickets for next season!

It's amazing what a new stadium & decent team can do for attendances (board take note) . We are a similar size club as Brighton imo & equally have that 'potential' , let's hope we hear some news on the CG soon; considering the lease is up in 2 years you'd think there'd be a sense of urgency to get things moving

Yes, it's looking up for them. That'll be the £90million+ of investment on a stadium and squad for you.

18,400!!! where have they all come from?

Reminds me of Readings move from elm park to their current place!

Got mates who live in brighton who are not fans who are already planning on going, seeing the stadium and getting behind the 'new' club!

Cant help but think that this sort of impetus only comes from a new stadium, not a slow part redevelopment!

wonder how many more clubs i'll look at enviously as they build nice new stadiums and climb the leagues before we are one of them

Nearly twice as much as ours then. Richer area I know, but it shows that on field success gets people to overlook a lot.

£395 isn't twice as much.

No, but £595 is more than twice as much...

Hold on a mo. I though I was paying £369 not £269. God knows why. Yippeeee.

BTW, current price is £ 299 so no it isn't  :D

I kind of expect Brighton to do well next year, which in a way is a shame as I'd be genuinely interested to see what happened to a club who quadrupled their season ticket sales in their new stadium and then got relegated. How long would the new punters keep coming? How many would renew?

Frustratingly, I think we would do something similar in similar circumstances.  Maybe not 18,400 season tickets, but a step change in our support.  It would change the way we all felt about what the club could achieve.  Reading have done a good job of sustaining their 'leg up'; looks as if Brighton could do something similar.

Rather unfortunate timing for Crawley, though, isn't it?

Well get a 'leg up' under this board.

I have nothing to back that up. It's purely a hunch.

Fucking brilliant news for them....and lets hope a few from Crawley make the short trip down the road.

I met a Crawley fan last week while on holiday in Crete, he noticed my Swindon shirt and he took great delight in gloating about last season. He did say while we chatted that Crawley see Brighton as a huge threat to any future success due to the new stadium and their status as a Championship club.

That is a lot of season tickets. Don't think we could ever get that...
