Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: janaage on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 08:30:03 I bet they must be paying him a fair whack, wage wise. Don't rate the bloke personally, it'll be interesting to see how he does next year.

Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: janaage on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 08:39:15 Just another aging footballing journeyman wanting another signing on fee.
Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: le god cuervo on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 08:43:07 still a good signing for them though, will probably get a lot of media attention for the club & a few more fans through the turnstiles (& names on shirts). imagine if we signed someone like that
Quote PLYMOUTH Argyle today made probably the biggest, and certainly the most colourful, signing in the club's history. Nigerian international centre-back Taribo West has joined the Pilgrims on a one-year deal, the recruiting of the world-class defender clearly demonstrating the Coca-Cola Championship side's ambitions for the new season. Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: janaage on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 08:44:29 Has he still got that green thinig going on with his hair? Those pilgrims will be loving that!!

I just spat my tea on my monitor when I read that! If he's world class then John Terry must be the greatest defender in the history of football! Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: Kinky Tom on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 10:07:17 And on a free I seem to remember. I also signed that Nigerian striker (can't remember his name) who played for Everton on a free, and promptly sold him for a million about a month later.
Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: Piemonte on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 10:41:47 he was indeed the nuts on CM01/02. Everytime I started a new game he was the first player i went for.
Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, 12:30:23 John Terry is the greatest defender in the history of football, pretty much.

One of my favourite footy moments ever involve Taribo, from a couple of years back... Quote Partizan beat Swedish side Djurgården on away goals in the second round after a 2-2 draw in Stockholm - but the Partizan team of today aren't of the same high standard as their predecessors. Struggling to hold on to the best young talents in Serbia and Montenegro, they lost midfielder Zvonimir Vukic to Shakhtar Donetsk and striker Danko Lazovic to Feyenoord in the summer. Skilful midfielder Sasa Ilic is still there, however, and boss Lothar Matthäus has also brought back ageing winger Ljubinko Drulovic after 11 years in Portugal. Former Derby defender Taribo West is also there - but isn't the coach's favourite at the moment after coming back late from his summer holiday with a knee injury. 'He took an "African" holiday,' complained Matthäus. 'And now he is eating grass to cure his injured knee. What can I do?' I'd sell my soul to see him in a town shirt, just for one game. :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: Is he actually a cow? We should get hime down here, plenty of lush Wiltshire countryside to munch on! Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: lebowski on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, 17:13:56 i remember reading a story a few years ago saying that a lot of the african players that come over here are actually a lot older than their passports say they are, did anyone else see that?

:? Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: le god cuervo on Thursday, October 6, 2005, 15:37:10 didnt he have trouble getting a work permit after they signed him?
what a waste - 5 games & i bet that cost a shit load in wages. Quote from: "lebowski" i remember reading a story a few years ago saying that a lot of the african players that come over here are actually a lot older than their passports say they are, did anyone else see that? didnt see the story, but its generally true... they dont get birth certificates when they're born, so are given an 'age' based on their reading age/education level. as most of them aren't the cleverest it makes their age lower, if that makes sense. when i used to play schoolboy football we always used to come across african kids that were blatently over aged. they were about 13-14 and 6ft tall, whereas the rest of us were 9-10 and about 5ft tall. was quite intimidating back then. Title: Plymouth sign "Terrible" West Post by: Spud on Thursday, October 6, 2005, 15:40:29 Wasnt there some problem with Martins the Inter player?, he says he's 21 but some African nation came out and said he was 24. :|

Lord knows what he's like at the moment but he was one of the best defenders in the Premiershit when he kept Derby away from relegation that season. He's just a bit of a fruit cake that's all.
