Title: Online games cross-platform (consoles)
Post by: pauld on Monday, April 18, 2011, 08:19:18
Hey gaming nerds! My lad's mate has COD Modern Warfare on PlayStation. If we got COD MW for the Wii, would they be able to play each other online? Or is it only PlayStation-PlayStation,Wii-Wii, that kind of thing?

playstation-playstation, xbox-xbox only I'm afraid.

I'd do a bit of research on the Wii version even for single player use, I'm not sure it is the same as the xbox/PS3 version.

They wouldn't dream of cross-console playing. Well Microsoft wouldn't. Everyone would just buy a PS3 because online gaming is free and you could still play people on xbox.

The only cross-platforming gaming is between PC and 360 and the Xbox owners tend to get 'pwned' rather extensively.

Happy to Help.

I adored that game! Mainly on splitscreen - and I didn't know any ST owners.

Did used to play Stunt Car Racer, Powerdrome and Falcon on system link.

Better stop this talk or I'll go off on one as to why Kick Off 2 was better than Sensible Soccer and both p*ss all over Fifa and Pro Evo in terms of two player showdowns.

Maybe we will see cross platform online gaming when MS decide they want to loosen their purse strings and let people have XBL for free. The chances of this are pretty much zero though sadly.

Simplicity at its best. There has never been a better feeling than after-touching the winner two seconds from time.

Does sensible have anything like this, with a World Cup still going. Well does it punk

Also the last proper 2d versions of SWOS (96/97 for PC and amiga I think, the previous one had it too) has a loads of stuff people take for granted now a days like a full on career mode and completely customisable tactics.

I still play it quite regularly.

The fully birdseye view? When you kicked it or ran it went "Dukkerdukkerdukkerdukker" noise??

If so, you are 100% right

Anyone remember Microprose Soccer or Emlyn Hughes International Soccer on the Commodore 64? These were the best football games ever.

Hush you two, adults are talking ....:)

I had International Soccer on C64. It was great because it was on cartridge = no loading time. Wore out in the end. Don't know if this was re-branded Emlyn Hughes International Soccer though.

Good fun, but no KO2 or SS.

Now, at last we have the winner.  I wasted many hours in my youth on these two...as I imagine so did you :)

Ah man I remember ISS on the SNES.

If you ran to the line and shot just before running out for a goal kick you could bend the ball into the top corner every time :D
