Yeah I'm going, sneaky feeling about tomorrow only because nothing suggests we can win. Kinda think they must be worried, everything from form book to previous meetings at the Galpharm suggests they will have it comfortably.

Let's hope that tomorrow is one of them funny days in football.

Strange place is Huddersfield. Looks like your stereotypical southern town as you drive in, but it's full of northerners.

They just showed a clip on Sky Sports News of a rugby game being played at the Galpharm, tonight.

Is this normal, 2 games on the same pitch in 2 days?

Strange days.....earlier this evening, the shiny fine STFC bus was parked up in Witney Market Square.  Odd for one given the players would surely be up north, resting up?  Who was using their coach?

So I asked drives.  Oh no, he said, they're all here, having a meal over the road.  I asked a little quizically why they'd be here, miles off the beaten track, rather than about 170 miles away?  New management, he says, and helpfully points me in their direction, so the boys might get some piccies.

Some pretend Pox give it a bit (to the coach, not to real people or even kids of course) and once inside ASK, Nick Watkins directs us to the squad.  Youngest takes off his jumper to reveal his Austin 32 shirt ...."he couldn't make it" laughs one of the players.

Top, top marks to Andy Frampton and David Prutton for the friendliest of welcomes - and the rest of the fellas for obliging with photo requests in a bizarre situation, so surreal that Phil Smith was sat next to Matt Ritchie.

So from the completely unexpected to the completely unexpected: that's how the Town prepared for their 1-0 win at Huddersfield, surely courtesy of Jonny D......

Dear Batch,

Unfortunately I had to melt them down into one super plastic person and sell him. Times were hard.
He turned out to be a fantastic keyboard player and was sold to 90's group D:Ream for a big bag of MDMA.

Today he is better known as Professor Brian Cox.

True (ish) story.

Ludicrous statement, we will never go 1-0 up :D

A point would be a minor miracle, so we will probably lose by the odd (deflected fucking spawny lucky bastard) goal :(

It's going to be ok ... just breathe deeply ... the thread was started at 00.07 on my behalf by Flash so the natural order is restored. This thread is hereby ratified as official. This IS the turning point and we will win the next 6 and draw the 7th. Or was it draw this and win the following 6? The voices in my head started to fade at that point, but they did say Douglas will score today.

So, 1-0 to Town or 1-1.

Feeling completely unjustifiably good about today, probably because we have nothing much to lose and my brain is convinced N'Diaye is a lower league Vieira.

3-1 Town. CMON.

I nearly went today but got into an argument with the missus. Not feeling confident. Head says a 5-0 thumping, heart says a narrow 2-1 defeat. Either way, nil points today.

They did alright for the first month or so, but then went on a downward run.  If they lose, this will be their 7th straight defeat.

I was just thinking something similar, very negative I know, but what we've come to expect.

I've so far avoided putting the radio on, I've become convinced that it's been a source of bad luck this season.  I've got SSN on and am filled with dread everytime a goal flash comes up in case it's for Huddersfield!

Seems like Hart is trying to shut up shot and hold on for a 0-0.  Would be a good point, but if all around us are picking up points, completely useless.  Surely he must have an idea of the scores around us?

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could get the last gasp goal for once and break this run of not winning.  I know, I'm living in dreamland ................

Very True.

Don't think anyone thought we would get much out of the three away trips to Huddersfield, Exeter & Brighton.

That's why we had to get points against Walsall, Plymouth and D&R and unfortunately 2 points out of 9 wasn't enough.

I'm not arguing Samdy and I'm not saying that a 0-0 draw at Huddersfield isn't a good result.  It's just unfortunate it might not benefit us greatly because of the way the other results seem to be going, which is just our luck really.  I'm guessing if they stay as is we'll be bottom at end of play?

Like this.
Fact is when you have no attacking force at all you will struggle.

The situation regarding our strike force is scandalous when you see the money we have pulled in for the ones who have left.
Two loan players and Benjon on the bench..............not good enough and it will send us down.
Fair play to the players today,0-0 at Huddersfield is a good result.

Good on you Town.

I don't think anyone is not giving credit for what is obviously a hard earned point at a team flying high, which prior to the game very few people thought we'd get.  The moan is more around negative tactics, taking off anyone who's likely to score, leaving a striker on the bench and the out of our hands fact that all around us picked up 2 more points than us (bar Plymouth).

I'll be interested in the views of those that attended the game, because I (like all of us) have been reliant on secondhand information.

Real shame the way results have gone around us but that's a great point.

In the context of THIS game and given the quality and form of the two sides, 0-0 is an outstanding effort.

Had we 'gone for it' today we'd have lost 6-2.

It sounded like a part of the reason we survived the injury-time onslaught from Udders was because we had so many men behind the ball/in the box.

Because we're shit and couldn't keep a clean sheet all season. We don't have the strikers to put away the limited chances we create at the moment, so going for broke WOULD have lost us the game. I'm sure the players are delighted with a 0-0.

Taking your only two attacking players off with twenty to go and replacing them with two defenders is not very attractive to the fans who made the journey.....maybe to you looking on TV or internet it looks slightly more of a good move..........maybe being one up it would have looked a tad better?

Taken in isolation, it's a really good away point and hopefully a performance we can build on. Taken in the context of where we are, draws are fuck all use to us, I'm afraid. If you factor in Daggers' games in hand, we're actually 7 points off safety with 9 games left and we've picked up 6 out of the last 15 games.

Just got back. I've not seen us much this season, only the televised games and the away game at rochdale before this and I've read reports from games on here so I wasn't expecting much.

I wouldn't say we deserved a point, we got a bit of luck when they hit the bar 3 times and had another 3 cleared of the line. We hit the post straight after half time, but other than for those 10-15 minutes we didn't offer too much up front. Andrew worked his socks off, chasing hopeful punts and putting himself a bit. He reminded me of Heskey - whether thats what we need I don't know. Grella and Ritchie looked good- before they we replaced by full backs.

The substitutions were defensive, a point at second in the league is a point gained. So I understand why they took place - there were murmurs from people, and I agree we could've gone for it - but from what I saw if we did that we would've lost. Ifs and buts.

I don't think I could fault the players for their efforts today, but having not seen us play for a while, I haven't come away thinking we'll stay up either.

Watched today high up on the half way line. Superb effort and great defensive shape. A great point all things considered. Andrew worked his socks off and the midfield 3 snapped away. Back 4 did very well too.

That said, i'd have liked us to put some pace on instead of Rose. Andrew was left completely isolated. And I'll be watching the highlights closely, because I'm pretty sure that was in at the end.

I almost hope we don't turn this around.

I really think we've left it too late to save ourselves, and if we do manage to find a way to defend effectively for the rest of the season, scrap for points and get the odd win, I'm just going to end up even more furious that the club dicked about so indecisively whilst Wilson allowed the players to piss the season away.

Just got back. Lots of positives to take, can't fault the effort and discipline of the players, defesnsively we did very well. Frampton was immense, Caddis and Sheehan excellent too.

However, my only gripe is negative substitutions...yes it worked from a defensive side of view and we got a point but Andrew was clearly knackered and ran into the ground after about 75 minutes..which meant we were devoid of any sort of goal it seemed.

Andrew is a willing worker but Benyon should have been thrown on, we really needed fresh legs. Timlin worked his socks off too, but he showed today that he doesn't have any quality in the final third....we had a great chance at the end, but he mis-controlled it completely.

All in alll, if we show that kind of fight we can still pull this off, but fundamentally we do need goals and I can't see where that's coming from, even with our new defensive minded 4-3-3 (4-5-1)

Just talked to my mate at Hudds........fans are livid up there with Grella and Ritchie being dragged off.
Game is for the taking............dicked them second half.

His words...not mine.

Did text him this morning to wish him well, and not to get too pissed

Just reading back and I agree with what a lot that has been said. No doubt the damage was done in the previous 2 home games (and perhaps the previous 22 games before that).

But talk of us not having any chance of winning today is a bit far-fetched. Huddersfield played some nice football in the first-half at times, but in the 2nd half they were there for the taking. They actually remind me a lot of us last season, played nice football but struggled against teams at home that played narrow and negatively.

Amankwaah and Rose substitutions were spot-on in my opinion as Caddis could go further forward and he was our biggest threat I felt. Rose also slotted in nicely, but we wasted a substitution by bringing Lesc on. Sheehan was miffed which meant he wasn't really tired and the spare pair of legs was much needed up front.

Not read back through the thread yet but good point in the context of the season, not enough in the context of the survival battle.

Not saying I expected even a point. Can't fault the players getting a fantastic clean sheet. Its just that we need to nick improbable, impossible wins when the opportunity is there. And by definition of a 0-0 result the opportunity WAS there.

I guess that is why I am none too happy with the  negative subs. Should have gone for it as a point is not enough (in my opinion). If we stay up by a point I'll be happy to be wrong! This opinion is from an uniformed point of view of course. i was not at the game.

leefer.
if you think hart is sending the team out to draw games, then you are even more nuts that i originally thought.
;)

Think you missed the point on that one arriba.....one shot on target suggests he was happy with a draw...fair enough a draw was a good result.
Fact is though he brought two attacking players off and replacing them with two defenders leaving a striker...Benjon on the bench.
So i would suggest that means Hart was happy with the draw....not going for the win.....so as i said he wasn't looking to the win the match.
How is me saying we were happy for the draw and not going for the win make me nuts?....it is blatantly obvious we were not set up to go for a win....the starting line up and his subs show this?

If it was mid December and we had 20+ games left it would be a good point and a perform with alot of positives to take from it.

Its mid March and singular points arent enough. If we'd lost 6-0 today but beaten Daggers we'd be better off.

Just got back. Much improved today.

Defensivley, very solid, Scotty and Frampton were immense, sheenhan and Caddis also had good games. For the first time in a while looked very solid defensivley, which was a pleasant surprise. We came under sustained pressure at times and withstood it well, although how the fuck they didnt score at the end I have no idea (one looked like it crossed the line.

Midfield weren't involved in the game enough for me howevever still did a good job to conatin some of their better players.

Andrews was brilliant up top, held the ball up brilliantly and kept running for lost causes, really impressed with him, the sort of commitment we have been missing all year. Ritchie and Grella both had their moments and showed nice touches but we need to get them on the ball more.

Was really impressed with Huddersfield's stadium, a great place to watch football and their support was decent too. Ward got a good reception from the town fans and luckily they failed to get him in the game at all, wish him all the best.

Also, Gary Roberts is an utter cunt. He should be ashamed of himself today. At least twice he flung himself today the floor after at best, minimal contact. The ref spotted one of them and booked but he really was a pathetic twat.

It was a fantastic point, but our season I fear was lost after the 3 games before today. However, I am confident we can have a more positive end to the season after the performance but I think it will be too late.

Enjoyed today! Knowing a hudds fan who lived in swindon for many years i managed to get a drink in The Vulcan. £2 a pint ....only had one but nice anyway!
Nice ground with good views throughout.
Game: we battled today and it was a joy to watch.
With the exception of prutton (who suddenly returned to his usual shite) all the players put in a decent shift.
Timlin and sheehan would get the lowest marks BUT they did get involved and threw themselves into tackles.
Grella, ritchie and andrew were awesome.
A bit puzzled by the subs Hart made but at least he can see what is glaringly wrong ie doss dropped.
Prutton MUST be dropped for the big lad from palace next week...woeful.
Overall we held the bastards out and rode our luck and got a point , just a shame its too little too late! Other results meant it felt a bit like a loss.
Roll on the gayers....good luck, i have been spared a trip to that shit heap of a ground with wanker stewards....im in Dublin.

We all agree that a draw at Hudds is a good result............my gripe is the negative tactics in the last THREE matches go in the face of the wind in a relegation dog fight....GO FOR IT FOR FUCKS SAKE...........we have nothing to lose....lets try and win a game instead of trying to draw one.

I think we all realise that we're not going to get to safety by winning games 3-2, 4-3, 5-4 etc. We haven't got enough goalscorers for that to happen. What we can do though is keep it tight and win a few 1-0's. That's the way forward.

I predicted a draw....which I would not have done if DW was still in charge. Hart is never going to be the manager us fans want in charge but it does show what might be done with a couple of decent loans signing and a different approach.....there is a running theme here that it is too little too late and the other results going against us only compounds this feeling....perhaps if we hadn`t got to the play offs last year DW would not have been given so much time this season....the margin for success and failure at our level is based on how well loan / signed players fit in....last season it worked well this season not so...

Yesterday I saw Bath v Grimsby and an old friend came on in the second half - Lee Peacock - about 3 stone heavier than the last time I saw him. Good game with Bath wining....

To my mind that's the point.  All season we have been shipping goals, and even when we have scored some (like at Peterboro) we still lost, and that must be really disheartening for the team as well as us lot. Hart has in four games achieved a miracle with the defence, and I am sure that has been his strategy - especially for yesterday and doubtless for Brighton too.  If PH manages then to get another proven striker in before next Thursday, that sets us up for a final fling in the last eight.  I'm happy with that as a strategy for survival.

I understand you view...but i don't agree that is the way forward in the situation we are in.
All good managers start at the back, lets keep it tight and nick a goal...especially away from home.
The difference is that when Hart took the helm his job was to try and keep us up....the two home matches were really disapointing in my view.....with all attacking intent quashed near the end and trying to hang on especially v Daggers....we all felt Daggers would score, for me being a bit more positive against Daggers would have seen us win it.
For me the job he is doing is what we should be striving for next season....this season we need wins and if that means the tactics goes out of the window for a while so be it......lets not be fooled by yesterday.....all though we had heart and a lot of the ball the fact is on another day we could have lost 5-1........nice to see the heart but come on surely lets be more positive especially at home.
Got a feeling we could nick a point at Brighton...but those two points are wasted if we dont bust a gut in the remaining home matches.
Benjon got ten mins v Daggers....nothing yesterday,i thaught he was brought in to score the goals to keep us up.......maybe its time he should be given the chance.

I'm past worrying about going down, we've been doomed for a while now, and yesterday, more or less confirmed it, but my worry is that Hart may do enough to get the job for next season.

He's in place, a few battling performances and the odd clean sheet, may convince the Board he merits a go next season, which would be another mistake.

I get what you are saying Reg,many feel the same.......but wouldn't three straight wins give us a sniff of staying up?
Surely we must give it a go now....i just feel so far under Hart that we havn't. given it full thrust with regard to grabbing all three points...........i accept it was carnage when he took over and yesterday sounds like we showed some much missing heart......lets hope it was the first stepping stone to a great escape.

Three more wins at any time this season would see us having a chance of survival, but we're just not good enough for this league.

This winless run is unprecedented for Div 3, and fast approaching 99/00 stats wise.

Just to highlight how poor we have become, the 99/00 relegation season, was in Div2 a higher standard, we were in admin, and any player who could command a fee, however small was sold. Jimmy Quinn even had to play at 40....shame the bugger had to hit the post with a header v Saddlers, as I wondered if he'd have been our oldest goalscorer.  Consequently it was clear a long way out we were doomed.   That season it was pretty much inevitable....which is why this season is so much worse, because it needn't have happened.

Not sure that it is a striker thats needed based upon the reviews. Sounds like a midfielder - maybe N'Dyie (or whatever his name is).

Targeting 2 points from Udders and Gayers might end up being a good shout....But, as Reg says, its very much like when we went down with Quinn at the helm. Lots of blind optimism.

Old reg spot on again...

I loved Jimmy Quinn and wanted him to do well but the club was on its arse and in free fall.

Thats why i state that this is the worst town team i have seen since 1979 as enough dosh was on offer to prevent another drop into the shit pit of divvy 2!

Just watched the highlights, certainly looks like we rode our luck a bit. Some cracking last ditch defending though -  something like 3, 4 shots cleared off the line?
