Paris and Milan are both great for the wife if she likes shopping for clothes.  Not great for you, though!

Barcelona and Madrid will be boiling in June, as will Rome and Florence and all will be HEAVING with tourists, so if it were me (she she be so lucky!) I'd go to Vienna/Prague, or up to Poland/Denmark.

I've never been but I hear Copenhagen is worth seeing.

It is, although not as much as people say. Alcohol is quite a lot more expensive though.

I preferred Salzburg to Vienna. Depends if she likes culture or designer shopping! Failing that, you could take her to Perm in Russia - the home of Molotov (the cocktail maker). Nice walks along the river, but keep an eye out for bears.

Ive done four of them....i would say Milan was my favourite...Paris was good but full of the french..

Still, I'd go again. So much to see. And you can get yourself some STFC russian dolls from the shop just off Wenceslas Square.

Florence would be my choice....but then its not me going!!  Wouldn't be thathot in June; the frustration would be only being there for the weekend....and there is so much around Florence as well as in it.

I would recommend Valencia, lovely buildings there and friendlier locals than other places in Spain. Walking along the former river converted into one long park through the city is great. Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia at L'Oceanografic is a must see. Of course the Mestalla stadium is a sight aswell.

That'd be my choice, apart from any of the Swiss cities but they're some of the most expensive places in the world.

Rome is one of the best cities i have been to, you never run out of things to do or to see. There is history everywhere. Even the buildings that are shit are absolutely amazing.

It can be pricey if you eat and drink right in the centre by the Coloseum (spelt wrong im sure) but it gets cheaper with just a short walk.

You can fly Bristol to Ciampino with Easyjet too.

Other - Krakow - or Florence

I'll second Oslo.
Such a great place. Had a very good time there last year.
Also the football season will be in full swing, so you can pop along and watch a Vålerenga game. Tickets prices are actually cheaper than a Swindon game.
Although everything else is more expensive over there. 

Stockholm

Florence will be hot and full of americans.... went to Pisa last year in May, weather was great and it was surprisingly quiet which wasnt a bad thing. Equally with Pisa you can also go to Lucca if you fancy a bit of Culture, or Viareggio if you fancy sea and beach!

Other......Brussels, lovely city, good beer for him, good chocolate for her and good chips for you both :)

Out of that lot I've only beento Vienna and it's pleasant - all cake and palaces. So really i'd say Berlin which is just fascinating as it sits at the centre of all 20th century European history. And has good beer and public transport.

My birthplace Berlin is a good call but not much romance there. I'd definitely put the thumbs up to Galway, far better than Dublin  :pint:. Dubrovnik, Croatia too.

A magnificent curtain of walls surrounds marble streets and baroque buildings that exude a pearly light in the Adriatic sun. Churches, monasteries and museums ornamented with finely carved stone recall an eventful history and a vibrant artistic tradition. Beyond the city is a heavenly landscape of beaches, wooded peninsulas and a sea strewn with lush islands.

I'd go for Madrid, Milan or Rome.

Madrid and Milan are quite small, plenty of culture and there's really nice nightlife in all three cities. I found Madrid to be one of the friendliest cities I've been to and it's just nice to wander from bar to bar. The Navigli in Milan and the Trastervere in Rome and most of the centre of Madrid are all areas for a cracking night out.

Lived in Madrid for three months and echo that sentiment: very friendly people, conversational and welcoming

Bruges is well worth a visit.  Lots of canals and very nice to walk around.  It's only an hour and a bit the other side of the channel if you would prefer to drive somewhere.

I know you're trying to narrow it down, but I also like Marseille, Stockholm, Munich, Lisbon and Amsterdam.

Given the choice right now, I'd go to Madrid.

Ah....Lucca.....now there is the jewel of Tuscany....if you go there, I'll hitch a lift!!!

Sorry my friend.  Have to disagree with you there!  Having gone at the end of Feb, I can honestly say I have never been to a more expensive city.  

Transport you can do the Oslo pass which is easy and (relatively) cheap but everything else is extortionate!  To get a decent hotel will cost you quite a bit -  we paid about 65/70 a night each and that was super basic!

I do agree however that Oslo is very nice  :)

Barcelona is awesome in summer - would highly recommend with tonnes to do.
Valencia is lovely too as someone else mentioned.

I'm going to Tallinn and Helsinki in a couple of weeks so will feedback as apparently thats nice in summer!

Funnily enough you can get some good deals to Marrakech too!
