Title: at last! Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:16:13 Wonder who the exciting loan player is? A massive surprise it says.
Title: at last! Post by: Piemonte on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:16:57 what does it say? work are being gay and stopping me getting on all footy related sites apart from this one. possibly because I spent all morning on them :|
Title: at last! Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:17:41 Swindon Town can this afternoon confirm that Jamie Cureton, Charlie Comyn-Platt, Ricky Shakes, Jack Smith and Tony Thorpe have all signed for the club.
The five all took part in their first Town training session today which involved a run at the lawns, before returning to SN1 to put pen to paper, with the moves now just subject to Football League approval. After seeing his squad together for the first time, Manager Andy King was delighted to see them at the club. "To see them out on the pitch putting shirts on and posing for photos was very pleasing for me. To have the five new players all here for training was good to see and what a change from a few days ago! Five new signings at STFC http://www.swindontownfc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/a5/ed/0,,10341~585125,00.jpg "To have Cureton and Thorpe sign here is very exciting. They have signed for footballing reasons and they want to achieve something here, as well as progressing their careers. Both players have come from big clubs and have taken big drops in wages to be here. Tony Thorpe went or £1 million a few years ago and there is still football left in him, and Jamie Cureton. Strikers get better with age and they both remain ambitious. "I have to fill the gaps now and I have an agreement with a Premiership Manager for a player on a year's loan which would be another very exciting signing. It would be a massive surprise but we have to tie that up yet, we shall see what happens with that one." "Smith has played a lot of games for Watford and the other two, Shakes and Comyn-Platt have experienced league football and they will be exciting signings as well. "I still have some money left in the budget and I am looking to spend that. There are still holes to fill and I am continuing in my search to do just that. What we have done is give me and the fans hope and it is a forward step in the right way. These are exciting times," King concluded before heading off down the tunnel to continue his search for further signings. Title: at last! Title: at last! Post by: Piemonte on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:20:24 kick ass. I hope that loan from the premiership comes off.
Paddy Vieria will do as our ball winner  Title: at last! Title: at last! Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:23:28 Gazza reckons Chris Eagles on thisis - can't see it myself.
Title: at last! Post by: le god cuervo on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:37:16 stanley talks a load of poo though. only reason he said that is coz king wanted him before.
the thisis site is well annoying now, people start about 5 new threads for the same fucking subject & just repeat the same stuff in each one. gayers Title: at last! Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:41:30 I know mate, it's bloody infuriating.
The thing is with all the repeating going on, is that every time it happens they seem to think they're the first one to write it, yet it's been said 4 or 5 time already in the last couple of hours. Wish they'd just read the other threads about the subject they're gonna bring up. Title: at last! Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:41:45 Would be good if we could get at least one from
Holmes or Powell or Horlock or decent premiership loanee King has apparently spoken to all of those, Horlock and Holmes are unlikely though but I think we should have a decent team anyway. :guinness: :guinness: Though Powell is on trial at Coventry now so probably not him http://www.ccfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/ClubNewsDetail/0,,10269~680038,00.html but I have full confidence that King will build a good squad now. Title: at last! Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, July 1, 2005, 14:45:47 Ian Taylor would still be welcome as far as I'm concerned - he's got a season at this level in him I'm sure.
I'd dearly love to see Kev pull on the red shirt once more - that really would put the cat amongst the pigeons in terms of the division. Strikers capable of scoring loads, with kev firing in close to double figures would be shit your pants good! Title: at last! Post by: Tails on Friday, July 1, 2005, 15:15:18 Relieved and excited that all 5 are confirmed :)

I'm well chuffed. Just need this "exciting" prem player to turn up and a couple more signings. Fuck relegation. Playoffs are back on chaps :beers: Title: at last! Title: at last! Post by: Piemonte on Friday, July 1, 2005, 15:38:37 indeed the play offs could be on with a couple more players.

Title: at last! Post by: Compo on Friday, July 1, 2005, 16:26:17 i just LUV Swindon Town ...........come on the 6th August
Title: at last! Post by: walrus on Friday, July 1, 2005, 16:35:08 King uses the words "massive surprise" so I would take from that it's either a big name - in the form of Tommy Mooney etc. or a player previously at the club e.g.: Holmes, Horlock etc.
Title: at last! Post by: Leggett on Friday, July 1, 2005, 16:45:31 what a difference 72hours makes hey!!!
Title: at last! Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, July 1, 2005, 16:46:53 Well it can't be any of them as he says he has an agreement with a premiership manager.
If it's anything like some of the premiership players he's brought here in the past (Davis and Milner for example) it would be great if he can tie it up. Realistically I don't think we could get Horlock but if there was any chance at all I'm sure King would bring him here. Title: at last!
