Evening

I know there are some Brooker fans on here.

This started last night.  Much like screenwipe / newswipe.  Very very funny.  Available to download on Iplayer.

Couldn't watch it last night.  Was suffering at the theatre of existential angst that is the county ground.

Haven't watched it yet, was going to last night but decided to wait for Wilson's interview instead.

I hate that cunt.

It's good by the way, brooker back doing screenwipey programme instead of being all celebrity.

It's certainly better than his c4 chat show and the (promising yet) disaster of the 10 O'Clock Live thing he's been involved with.

It really does peter off towards the end, starts off interesting with a good mix of amusing and then just gives up without a point with the hot pen sketch (which lacks a punchline).

It's like a pop version of an Adam Curtis documentary, which is in no way a bad thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was what he was aiming for. If you haven't watched 'The Century of the Self' or 'The Power of Nightmares' then fuck off and watch them right now. Really. I think they might be on google video somewhere.

The time Brooker used on the stupid egg animation and the pen stuff could have been used on more recent examples of fear based telly. There's plenty of them. Maybe have a look at some stats about modern perceptions of crime vs the actual reality. I guess that he didn't want to either get too political or do anything which dates his documentaries on telly before they get released on dvd.

Still. I enjoyed it, and will watch the next one.
