Thank fuck for that. Whilst I'm sure it wouldn't have caused us major financial difficulty, the idea of giving that vile creature any money is horrible. I'd rather hand a cheque over to the board of Oxford United.

And then we can counter the counter.  Eventually, surely, the process must stop.  (I don't know btw).

The OS had a nice little snippet at the end of the article:

"For Swindon Town FC this has been a very time demanding and costly exercise but hopefully the final vestiges of the club's previous history of mismanagement."

Another interesting note from the bottom of the adver article:

Quote
Fitton also paid tribute to the assistance of Sir Seton and James Wills over the course of the preparations and hearing.

"James and Sir Seton have been extremely helpful to the club in this case," he said. "

Wills' seem to have divorced themselves from everyone's favourite adviser.

Oh, and Diamond Mike...fuck off.

It would go High Court - Court of Appeal - House of Lords - European Courts ...

But then, you have to ask how far Diamond Mike would go for £300k - considering the above routes would cost him much more if he lost.

Glad the club won, as these are probably invoices which came out of the woodwork in 2007 just before the takeover happened.

With his reputation, I'm surprised Diamandis found lawyers to represent him. Hope his lawyers got paid in advance !!!

Having read the statement on the official site it seems Diamandis placed a winding up petition on the Club. Also the Court had to hold £300k for the appeal to go through which is now given back to the Club.

I can see why Fitton was so pissed off with it all. I wouldn't expect this to be the last we deal with Diamandis though.

Wow De-Je-vu or what.  Woke this morning in Singapore to see Diamandis name all over my phone , yikes was this a cheese induced nightmare or had I slipped back 5 years into my previous role as stalking horse in chief!  I have no doubt that the Wills have at last got the message, how much pain and misery can one family endure even if they do have some dodgy genes to contend with?  This man deserves every bit of abuse he gets in fact I think he got off very lightly, as he once said to me ' I know where you live'  nice man.  Perhaps we should organise a reunion for Bob Sandy Willie and Diamond for old time sake, just dont let the Greek hold the beer money.  As many people have commented the present problems on the pitch are nothing to the situation this club was in during his magnificent reign.  Ive still got about 40 orange hats and a load of car stickers in my garage at home just in case!  Happy New Year to all that know me or even that pretend not to anymore (cheer up Nigel you miserable old sod).  All will be well, Goodbye Charlie and lets rebuild, nothing can compare with those dark days!  Mike

When I was speaking to an ex work colleague last night on the phone about the Greek, he didn't know about the club winning the case.

I read out the club statement to him, and when I got to the part about claiming costs from him, he gave a massive cheer and decided to go to the club site to read it himself.

Good post, Spud.

There were plenty of slimy, cock-suckers like Nigel Bennet who gave it the big one when the protests evenyually kicked off against Diamond Mike and his chinless, guttless, opportunistic financiers.

On the subject of Diamond Mike; I'm led to believe from a mate who lives and works in Ramsbury that he's now going after the Wills family for the £300k compo that he tried to get the club to pay. Serious.

They must be sooo fucking pissed off with wanking all that money away on the advice of a slimy greek failed businessman like Diamandis. And they're still not rid of him after all this time!

I'd be surprised if the chinless old cunt is allowed anywhere near the family cheque book after that fucking debacle, let alone getting anywhere near even a sniff of Lady Wills' royal box;-)

Sounds very much like Mr D's MO - not so much biting the hand that feeds as trying to gnaw the arm off. I wonder if his lawyers know they're operating on a "No win, No fee" basis yet? Or more likely, just a "No fee no matter what the outcome" basis.

When I was at the club on Wednesday before doing my fathers ashes I was 99% certain that I saw him walking around the County Ground and hanging around the club shop in a track suit with a hat on, he looked me straight in the eye and I swear it was him, he looked thoroughly miserable and looked at me like he was waiting for me to say something to him.

I have met him in the past when I worked at the club and I am certain it was him.

Not sure what he was doing there though if indeed it was him.

His tracksuit had a hat on?

I'd be reasonably certain it wasn't him:

a) Couldn't imagine anyone less persona non grata at the CG this week in the aftermath of the court case. Apart from possibly Charlie's agent.
b) He only ever wears that blue jumper and trousers - I'm sure he must have about 50 of them jumpers. Don't even want to think about the mental image of Diamandis in a tracksuit
c) If he went into the club shop, he'd be at risk of putting money INTO the club. That's not how things work in Diamandis-land

Nice to see Baghdad Bob and Ms Forgetful inadvertently had a small hand in supporting the appeal.

Does paragraph 33 suggest that while Diamandis didn't provide indisputable evidence the company owed him cash, the the matter could still go to trial?
Not in this case. This case arose because Diamandis applied for a Winding up order against the club on the grounds that they'd not paid him money he claimed was owed to him. But for such an order to be granted, the debt must be undisputed. Hence the club applied to have the petition for the Winding Up Order dismissed (as the debt was not beyond dispute). That application was initially rejected by the original judge in the summer and this hearing was the club appealing against that rejection. In this hearing the judges upheld the club's appeal, i.e. agreed that any alleged debt was very far from beyond dispute, and hence the Winding Up petition was effectively dismissed. So the ruling means that the debt is not proved beyond dispute, but it does not mean at least some of it is not owed, although equally it does not mean that it is. The core question seems to be not whether Diamandis is owed money, but

a) how much of what he is claiming he is actually owed
b) who owes it to him - the club, the old holding co or the Wills family.

This judgement casts doubt on his full claims in a) and makes it much more likely that the club is in the clear on b).

I think

So I assume that this is still in dispute then and it is only the decision that there can be no WUP levied against the club - so Micky the Greek has to find a way to prove who owes him the money and try and claim it, am I reading it right ?
