Title: Fave Christmas film?
Post by: DMR on Sunday, December 12, 2010, 15:32:18
Having seen it on last night, surely everyone's answer should be Jingle All The Way.

Discuss.

I'm a bit of a sucker for Christmas films. I think Elf is a good modern effort and Scrooged is one of my favourites.... Other than Arnold and Sinbad in Jingle All the Way, obviously...

Does Die Hard count? :D

They're pretty much all crap but Its A Wonderful Life is the exception to the rule. Jingle All the Way is fucking embarassing and DMR you should hang your head in shame. I find the older X Mas films considerably better than anything new - ie Miracle on 34th Street or whatever it is.
The safest rule, however, is just avoid X Mas films. in fact, best to avoid X Mas songs and best to avoid X Mas altogether.

N'ah I like schlocky Christmas movies. I find watching films like Elf, Home Alone and others quite relaxing.

Of course, the likes of It's a Wonderful Life are the best efforts but I'd be lying if I said it was my favourite.

The Muppet Christmas Carol :)

Santa Claus the Movie - Without a doubt! (The one with Dudley Moore in, not the Tim Allen effort...)
Big fan of The Grinch with Jim Carey, as well as Elf. Muppet Christmas Carol is a nice watch too.

Well apart from the last bit....nowt wrong with a holiday and plenty of getting pissed.

I did go and see Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence....some years ago, mainly because I had a fit bird who liked films, but I did like David Bowie.  Can't remember if it was at Christmas although I suspect not....and it was a bit shit.

Rock stars really should stick to music....although I do recall Mick Jagger, being reasonable as Ned Kelly.

I grew up with Home Alone and muppet Christmas Carol so love those 2 as bring back fond childhood memories and we always used to watch the snowman on the last day of term at primary school!
These days I know it's not strictly a Christmas film but I'm partital to watching "Love actually" this time of year!
