There is not enough land for deer to live on....like Magpies and Foxes they need to be culled in a humane way.
2000 deer were found starved to death in Scotland last year because in the winter there is no food for them.....they have no natural predator.
What i do not agree with is the local councils inviting rich people on there land to hunt them.
This particular deer was a prize specimen with no illness and was a tourist attraction....a fine beast.
While i agree with humane culling hunting live animals for sport is sick and as arriba says not fit for our country.

Culling during the rutting season should be outright banned regardless of whether it's the weak or specimens being taken.

Try a local Farmer's Market and/or a Farm Shop, by far the best sources (and often cheaper than the major supermarkets to boot).

That said, I have seen Venison in the likes of Sainsbury's et al, but choice is very limited.

Currently got a venison Haunch and a Venison Shank nestling away in the freezer.....and before somebody asks, its not from this beast.....

Coincidently, I had venison for lunch. I butchered it using onions and Frank's Red Hot Sauce and stuffed it in some Tiger Rolls. I liked it muchly.
