Title: Your Team For Saturday?
Post by: STFC4LIFE on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, 14:39:48
What would you go for? I'd like to see us back to 4-4-2 and would go with....

......................Lucas
Caddis....Morrison....Cuthbert....Rose
McGovern..Douglas..Ferry..Ritchie
................Austin..Ball

That is presuming everyone is fit etc, if Amankwaah was fully fit I would have him at right back but I think it's quite clear he isn't.

Agree 100% with that team.

We need to go back to what has served us so well in the past.

Probably go with that too, Dave.

Douglas won't play though.

Not sure how long a broken toe needs to heal, but I'd think longer than a fortnight.

I really wish we'd switch back to 4-4-2. Anyone think it'll happen this weekend?

I wasnt personally but he's injured again anyway?

Also, David Ball showed at Peterborough he can finish and finish well, so again personally I'd like to see him played upfront - see what he can do.

If i picked the perfect team, you lot would have nothing to moan about. So to counter act this i have got Maurice Malpas and Colin Todd as my management dream team

I think that the most important thing, regardless of formation and personnel is that they do not play like a bunch of cunts.

Could be the same starting 11 as Saturday according to BBC Radio Swindon. Douglas is a major doubt & Prutton has still not recovered from a virus.

So, with Douglas and Prutton both out, who plays to make it a 4-4-2 which everyone is demanding?  we can't magic the central two back to fitness.  Personally I'm struggling to see a central pairing that I'd be happy with, especially away.  McGovern has shown enough this season to suggest he'd be more lost than Hansel and Grettel in a central midfield role.  He'd put the effort it, no doubt, but other than last season on the right of midfield he's looked spectacularly ineffective.

I'd go with:

Lucas
Caddis
Rose
Cuthbert
Morrison
Mcgovern
Evans
Ferry
Ritchie
Ball or Dossevi
Austin

but it looks too young and I'm worried about Evans not having an experienced enough head alongside him.

I think we have a central midfielder out on loan somewhere?

If we havent got enough central midfielders to play a flat 4 in midfield, then we certainly havent got enough to play with a 5...

Evans, Caddis, Ferry centre mid

I fear Caddis and Ferry being very lightweight

GK Lucas
RB Caddis
CB Cuthbert
CB Morrison
LB Rose
RW Dossevi
CM Prutton (if recovered)
CM Ferry
LW Ritchie
ST Austin
ST Ball

Can we recall Timlin? If Prutton & Douglas are still missing then I would get him back. OK he is not exactly a ball-winner but he has more presence than Ferry, Caddis & McGovern who are all too lightweight. Some of the 'challenges' being made by those 3 on Saturday were embarrassing and we were completely dominated in midfield.

Amankwaah is clearly not fit so I would give Thompson a chance at right back, Caddis is not great defensively, he got roasted several times on Saturday by Orient's left winger including for their 2nd goal when he just fell over!

I do, however, like his directness going forwards so I would have him right midfield instead of JPM. JPM works hard but he is off form at the moment and needs a bit of time out of the team.

Agree that we need to go back to 4-4-2, so my team assuming that Douglas, Prutton and Pericard are not fit would be:

GK - Lucas
RB - Thompson
LB - Rose
CB - Cuthbert
CB - Morrison
RM - Caddis
LM - Ritchie
CM - Timlin
CM - Ferry
ST - Austin
ST - Ball

Ball over Dossevi upfront because Ball knows where the goal is and Dossevi doesnt!

If Prutton is out for any more games I would certainly think recalling Timlin would be a good idea, but given he isn't here we can't include him.

playing 3 more lightweight cnetral midfielders is an attempt to use numbers to improve defensively as opposed to having someone in there who can breal play up properly.  Could imagine Ling and Moncur if they didn't have McLaren sta behind them.

i'd like to see dossevi play right mid in a 4-4-2 as he's got a good first touch , can dribble and doesnt have to try and find the net as often

Agreed, if Ball plays up front.

If we go 4-4-3 JPM and Ritchie should get the wing roles.

RobertT does make a good case for a lack of options in the centre  at the moment. I'd go with Dougie/Ferry or Prutton/Ferry but can't think of another combo I'd like.

From a fully fit squad:

...............Lucas
Manks    Cuthbert Morrison   Sheehan
JPM      Dougie   Ferry      Ritchie
          Pericad Austin

Subs. Smith, Dossevi, Prutton, Ball, Rose, Caddis, A.n.other

Pretty harsh on a lot of the subs. They've all impressed at times. Aaaaaaaaah I see the problem now, we have too much quality and thus a too unsettled team :)

For Sat:

...............Lucas
Manks*    Cuthbert Morrison   Rose
      Caddis  JPM     Ferry     Ritchie
            Austin Dossevi

*if fit

Would be my team also......Caddis for Ritchie when he returns.

Dunno if it has been mentioned, from a fully fit squad, a way we could have both sheehan and magic toes (Rose) in the team is if one of them moves over to right back to give manks a rest, think sheehan would be better on the right more than rose, and sheehan does cut into the middle when going forward mostly so wont effect his game to much, whereas rose likes to beat his man down the wing, so this way it may benefit us, but im probably just talking rubbish.

I'd go with the "who the fuck needs experience" line-up, no way can it be worse than Orient....

Smith
Thompson Morrison LJF Rose
McGovern Evans Ferry Ritchie
Austin Ball

Though Douglas or Prutton for Evans if either is fit.

Douglas definitely out for tomorrow's match
Pericard is 50 / 50
Prutton has a slight chance of starting tomorrow although he hasn't trained most the week due to illness
Frampton will go straight in the starting 11

Lucas

Caddis Cuthbert Frampton Rose

           Prutton Ferry

Ball          Dossevi         Ritchie

               Austin

I think Lucas might let a few in if he stands in that position. Perhaps better he stands in the goal mouth?
