Title: Wireless help
Post by: Luci on Sunday, October 3, 2010, 09:19:41
Grrrr wireless is causing problems again. I can connect to my wireless on my iPhone but when I try my laptop it says "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".

I tried resetting the router, retyping the network security key but nothing is working.  :crash:

Any ideas?  :smack:

Have you set the correct security type on your laptop, ie the same as the router is set to?

I don't think so but don't know how

(it's only playing up this morning as I turned the router off at the mains and back on again)

1. Place your bets using your iphone
2. Log on to the router and check the Security settings
3. Tell the TEF what operating system you are using and the combined mental ability of the group will be avert from seeking free porn to fixing your problem

You need to check the router settings are correct and that they're the same on the laptop.

- Did the laptop work before you powered down the router?

- Have you rebooted the laptop?

Heres the story:

Was using the laptop fine this morning but then the wireless died so I reset the router (which normally works) but on this occasion it didn't.  I think turned the pc off at the wall plug (including router) as that worked before when the normal reset didn't work.  Now, I can't get onto wireless but it says the security settings don't match so I think me turning it off at the plug made things worse.

I also tried restarting the laptop to no avail.

Jonny - have a Belkin 54g router.

To get in to the router admin, on your PC go to http://192.168.2.1 in a web browser, or use the Belkin Router Manager software if it's installed. From there you should be able to check the settings and compare them to what's on your laptop.

Did you have to change anything on your iPhone or has it continued to work ok?

Either through the network icon in the bottom right hand corner, hover over them and the right one will be obvious, just double click it. Or through the control panel. You'll need to find the wireless connection then get the settings for it up.

Might be a link to it in the message box that comes up when you can't connect.

How did you fix it? Did you do the logical thing and look at your iPhone settings and then use these on the laptop?
