Title: Fifa 11
Post by: blinkpip on Monday, September 27, 2010, 19:28:25
Anyone know if Asda (west Swindon) are selling it cheap at £27 again this Thursday night?

Rich?

They are refurbishing the main store so it's been closing at 10pm recently. Obviously the sound & vision bit is separate and they may still open up late.

Last year the club shop had it with a "special" Swindon Town cover, I wonder if they'll do that again...?

Not sure. They have been fucking around refurbishing it lately and the opening hours were cut down the other week. Im going to check with them probably on Wednesday or Thursday. Im not sure they will be doing it as cheap this year as apparently Tesco are not but fingers crossed they do.

We were supposed to get a copy sent at the weekend courtesy of Wayne Rooney but Darren Fletcher went and registered it to his email address for some reason prior to sending it to us so we are now having to purchase it ourselves! Grrr.

£40 instore at Game I reckon. Depends on how old the games are, how rare they are and what condition they are in for trade ins. I've got some good deals recently when trading at Game.

I gave Asda West Swindon a call at lunchtime today and was informed that "they are not a 24 hour store at present" given all of the work being done. So I was told that it will be on sale on Friday from 8am. Now i know they have opened the customer service desk to sell it in previous years so they may yet do that but as said it will depend on whether the store is actually open. Going by that i'd imagine it won't be.

I also asked about the price and got told that it was yet to be decided. I was told however though that they have a deal if you trade in F1 2010, Deadrising 2 or Halo Reach you can get Fifa 11 for 99p. Bit silly given all of those games are less than a month old though. I might give Asda Walmart a call tomorrow and see what the crack is up there. Doesn't sound too promising on the West Swindon front though.

Thanks iffy! Top man!

I may just get it from Game. Ciren doesn't boast a great deal of game shops. Game always has the highest prices. May ring up Tesco to see if they have any deals going on.

I'll keep you posted

Fifa and COD in previous years have had midnight releases. Well actually they can't officially begin to sell until 00:01 for legal reasons I guess.

I assume getting to Wembley isn't enough to reach the heady heights of 2 star like Colchester, Huddersfield, Charlton etc..

Quote
We’re celebrating the launch of FIFA 11 with a fantastic limited time offer which could net you the eagerly awaited new footie title for just 97 pence!

All you have to do is trade in either Halo Reach (on Xbox 360), Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360 or PS3), or F1 2010 (Xbox 360 or PS3) at your nearest participating store and you’ll get FIFA 11 (on Xbox 360 or PS3) in return for this bargain price. Please note this fantastic offer is limited to one trade-in per customer.

Trade-ins aren’t limited to these three games though – we’ll check the trade-in price of any game you bring to store (provided we have it listed and it meets our quality control standards) and tell you right away how much you’ll get off the FIFA title. It doesn’t matter what platform your games are on either – we’ll take PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS games.

Our special FIFA 11 trade-in deal runs in all 236 Asda trade-in games stores from 00.01 on Friday 1st October until the close of business on Sunday 3rd October.
If you’re not interested in FIFA 11 you can use the trade-in price against other entertainment products or anything else in store – or have the amount credited to an Asda Gift Card. So you can even use it to get money off your weekly grocery shop!

If you simply want to purchase the new FIFA title for Xbox 360 or PS3 this week without trading anything in our great price is £29.97 in all Asda stores until the close of business on Sunday 3rd October.

In addition to accepting trade-ins on existing games, we’re also going to start selling pre-owned games at participating stores from October 11th – along with all the latest gaming titles.

Not a patch on FM but the whole point of manager mode is that you play with the team as well as set the tactics. It's not meant to be anywhere near as advanced. They've actually scrapped manager mode this year but you can still do 15 years as being a manager or you can do 5 years as a player then 5 as a player manager and 5 as a manager just to mix it up. I think that will be pretty good. Also looking forward to being a goalie too. Sounds fun.

Takes a while to get use to the new passing, weight of the pass plays a much bigger part. Crossing and the various ways of getting on the end of them is miles better though

It's usually like this for me, take a few hours play to get used to the new game normally! Enjoying it so far though.

I was driving past the County Ground just before 9am this morning so thought I may aswell go in and get the STFC version. There was about 6 or 7 people there at 9am when it opened

Totally agree with getting a few hours play under the belt. I went straight in online and lost my first two games 1-0 and 3-1. I found the clearances from the defence is awful. The passing is a lot harder this year, more realistic. No ping pong passing etc. Still i'll play this to death over the next year or so until the next installment is out!

I really wanted the STFC front. Is there anyway you can get the front slip for it anywhere? Has the disc itself got the swindon players on there?

Title: Re: Fifa 11
Post by: PocketScience on Friday, October 1, 2010, 16:09:19
Yeah the passing will take a bit of getting used to, definitely more realistic. I like the highlights after games amongst other new features

As for the STFC front, it is literally just the front cover. The back cover, instructions, disc, etc are all the standard ones. I did think it was a bit silly paying an extra tenner just for a cover with Town players on but at least this way it'll be worth something (to me anyway) when Fifa 12 comes out. Because as of this morning Fifa 10 is worth fuck all!

when the other team is in possesion hold the B button so another player from your team will pressure the player on the ball. You can then use the player you are controlling to mark and nip in with a tackle. 1-2's should be used alot aswell and try not to use the sprint button too much or the opposition will nip right past you

Use the jockey button too instead of holding down A. LT and it flanks the player. No need to rush into a tackle then and commit a foul.

I would also recommend playing on "Defensive" instead of "Balanced" unless your losing as this makes it quite a bit harder for the opposition to score without taking much away from your attack.

I've scored a few goals online that have been alright. Nothing amazing though. My best goal was a free kick against the computer with my pro that was from about 25-30 yards out.

Loving this and been playing all afternoon.

I had to do a double take when Andy Gray started slagging off Pericard for his workrate during a game, it was just like being in my seat in the DRS, although he didn't then follow it up with 'Rubbish McGovern!', which is the normal cry from the row behind me.

Beat some dude who was Rangers 1-0 with the Town yesterday. A Dossevi cross from the left met by the head of Sir Charles of Austin.

It's weird, I enjoyed the last Fifa a lot more than this one, I don't know why.
The commentary is still lazy and shit and the game seems a lot harder.
Maybe I am just shit, and that's hindering my enjoyment somewhat.

I'm pretty much the same to be honest, the game seems a lot slower and more difficult. Though I am starting to improve the more I play, I dunno if I can be arsed to play it so much I get good!

Seems to be a lot of bugs in this one too, earlier on someone scored past me and the commentators said "And the ball goes out for a goal kick" whilst the players were running around celebrating the goal.

Also, they reset the online rankings the other day because of some cheat people were using to get to the top of the leaderboards if anyone wondered why all their points had gone. I hadn't played it that much so it didn't really bother me but there were people on the EA forums moaning about how they'd spent 2 days playing it, etc :D

The career mode is annoying me atm i started as a keeper played 24 games won 18 drew 4 and lost 2, had an average rating of 6 every game and only conceded 12 goals ( 4 of them against Hartlepool who won the league and i had a rating of 7.6 in this game) at the end of the season i was released and taken on by Ajax as a first choice keeper. BTW i was playing for Swindon. Also on the achievements the long pass one doesn't register if you come out of your box and pass it. But apart from that i am loving it.

No problem.

Although I haven't scored any screamers, it appears at half time that the linesman is moonwalking off the pitch:

Fair play to EA, most of the Town players actually look ok,

Signed RW maestro Alan Stefanovic on a free in career mode, quality, keeping JPM out the side and he wears red boots. ;)

The game is a bit so so, got some good bits and some poor bits, not quite the finished product yet, been playing it a week now and don't find it very difficult on the easy settings but gets very difficult on the tougher settings.

Manager mode is good as long as you play and don't sim it.

Ball is awesome for me, Austin very average, JPM great out wide and Ferry is class, Cuthbert is pretty poor as is Morrison and Douglas, Dossevi and Pericard very poor for me.

Would love them to add a design your own stadium part to it in future editions, I would enjoy recreating the old County Ground with Shrivvy road stand.

I'm doing pretty well online. I struggled at first but manage to play a game a night and often win now. It's frustrating how people always want to be the decent teams rather than slugging it out in a league one match.

Yeah it's annoying. I played someone who was Brighton on Fifa 10 though. That was quite fun. Especially as I won.

I beat Rangers and lost to LA Galaxy as Swindon online recently.

I remember why I don't play online much. I'll have all the possession and better chances then I make one small error and lose.

Yeah, that is annoying. Virtually everyone I play is either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

I did have a Swindon v Barnet online game, I was 1-0 up and they scored in the last minute then beat me on penalties (they are harder than Fifa 10 and I am shite at them!)
